• Divest from the Gun Industry
I am a doctor, and thus professionally and personally sworn to do no harm to other people. Having grown up on a farm, I understand hunting for meat and sport, but the gun lobby has pushed their mercantilistic agenda much too far. We need to limit access for criminals and the mentally unstable, and restrict the distribution of weapons of massacre. Divesting will lessen the unwelcome influence of these companies on our society.

I have watched with sadness and frustration at the power the gun industry has over legislators on the federal level. It seemed that there was finaly momentum last year after the unspeakable tragedy at Newtown. However, even that event could not inspire courage on the part of Washington. It was then that I realized if any reasonable restrictions would be enacted it would be state by state. Unfortunately Vermont has not taken this up. So now, rather than enact changes based on sense or ethics hopefully changes can be made based on financial disinsentives. Please divest any and all state holdings in any companies or corporations affiliated with the gun industry. Don't have our state finance an irresponsible industry.

  • Divest from the Gun Industry
One year ago yesterday 20 children and 6 adults were killed due to gun violence. The gun manufacturing industry has continuously campaigned to profit off of gun violence with lies about the fear of a false national gun registry (The Manchin-Toomey Background Check Bill will sentence anyone to 15 years in prison for an attempt at a national gun registry). With 26 school shootings since Sandy Hook, 33 people dying from gun violence every single day, and 64% of the murders in Texas due gun violence. It's past time that Texans Stand Up and tell our representatives we want to Divest From Guns. #SaveLives #PeopleComeFirst

  • Divest from the gun industry
After the shootings at Sandy Hook, many hedge funds, private equity firms, as well as city & state pension funds divested tens of millions of dollars from the gun industry. A year later, there are still funds and firms profiting from murder. If they divest, it'll weaken the gun industry's political power and clear the way for commonsense gun violence prevention laws.

There are way too many children dieing because of gun violence. We are the most armed country in the world, so saying that owning guns prevents violence is an absolute falsehood.

  • Divest NJ State Pensions to Save Innocent Lives
The people must take action to curtail gun violence as much as possible and make responsible gun ownership in NJ the standard by which other states can aspire to emulate. The gun manufacturing industry understands that these random spree shootings like Aurora Co., Sandy HooK Elementary, etc will not stop without action being taken. Still it has done nothing. To the contrary, the industry seeks to blame society & lobbies legislatures to allow its products to be enhanced in ways that only further this violent activity. Divesting state pension funds from the gun industry will send a clear message that New Jersey is taking an active role to end gun violence and irresponsible gun ownership in our society.

It is an outrage to see so many innocent men, women, and children who life was ended by a senseless murder. Gun violence has to come to an end in our country.

It is time we find a way to keep our citizens safe. If the members of our Congress are too afraid to stand up to the NRA by enacting tighter gun control then we must find a way to curb the gun industry's power. We all know hitting the pocket book is a forceful weapon. State by state, one small step at a time is the way we can do this. Help South Carolina be a leader in giving our children a future.

My grandchildren attend elementary schools and I want to help then get the best education possible throughout the years. I also want to keep them safe by decreasing the number of illegal guns; as well as, guns sold without background checks in the United States

A dear friend was directly affected by this when his five-year-old nephew found a gun and shot and killed his six-year-old brother. It was pretty devastating to everyone—friends and family alike. And now all these senseless mass murders. Somehow this madness needs to stop and stop now.
