  • Implement Meidicare expansion in Ohio
Figures from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2010 Census show that Ohio 1.3 million uninsured, or 14.3 percent. Some examples of the poorer, rural counties: Athens County: 8,870 uninsured, or 17.9 percent uninsured; Hocking County: 3,790 uninsured, or 15.4 percent uninsured; and Meigs County: 3,384 uninsured, or 16.9 percent uninsured. The Urban Institute, a think tank that carries out economic and social-policy research, estimates that 57 percent of Ohio's uninsured non-elderly adults will remain uninsured if Ohio does not implement the ACA's Medicaid expansion.

  • Research for treatment of violent mental illness.
We need a national program to study severe mental illness and find treatments and prevention. So many times lately we hear of young men who's lives have come apart and they have killed dozens of people. Something happens to these apparently normal people that cause them to become terrorists. It is not politics. They seem to have become deranged for no good reason. We need study to help prevent these tragedies and save lives.

  • Stop restricting health coverage
Stop restricting insurance coverage for contraception and abortion based on the religious convictions of the employer. This forces people to accept and adopt religious beliefs of another individual if they want to earn a living.

  • Cure multiple sclerosis with global cooperation
MS attacks the most productive members of society, including my 44 year old son. It slowly debilitates them physically, mentally and emotionally until they become invalids. Funding and research is fragmented. Until a global consortium that shares research and funding is created, a cause and cure will never be found. Pharmaceutical companies will only fund medicines that will make profit. A cause and cure is needed now. You never know when MS will decimate your family. Vote for cooperation.

  • Healthcare for low income Baby Boomers
I am a 60 year old widow. I lost everything from home to my health insurance.. I have pre existing conditions which preclude me from qualifying for individual health insurance unless I am rated much higher. In Mendocino Country California where I live ,the county subsidized program eliminates anyone who makes for than 1700 per month. I just started collecting my husbands S.S. which is just about that. I am a licensed RN, and work as a temp employee at our local health center. If I make more than a few hundred dollars in a month A. I do not qualify for health care at all. B- I loose a portion of my widows benefits. If I AM approved for county insurance, my deductible would be a share of cost of about $1000 per month. Any preexisting health insurance in California is unaffordable..payments approximately $500 per month, and that is after 6 months of NO county insurance. What happens to me and other people who fall between the cracks? Not old enough to receive medicare and too old to qualify for private, affordable insurance due to health conditions, ie. mild hypertension, high cholesterol. I have never been without coverage, and I am in a constant state of panic over this. I hear of many Americans moving to Canada just to have healthcare with a nominal premium. If I got ill, I don't know what I would do. It terrifies me. I live under the poverty level, but apparently I'm not QUITE poor enough. We need President Obama to address this issue . I believe it is urgent for me and so many other Americans.

  • Pres. Obama keep the DEA out of state law
I am a 58 yr. old handicapped man that needs medical marijuana so that I can sleep at night and for relief from pain. President Obama promised he would let the states handle their own medical marijuana issues but the DEA continues its raids on our dispensaries. What a waste of funds that are drastically needed elsewhere. The majority of the people and states are in favor of having legal medical marijuana. Let the states take care of their own state law. Remember it is a election year and we do vote.
