  • DEMAND SINGLE PAYER HEALTH INSURANCE
Other developed countries watch our health care debate and shake their heads. Most of them have cradle to grave coverage based on the reduced costs that single payer insurance provides. Health, like energy and democracy should not be cash cows for corporations. So called "Obama Care" merely hands the HMO's more customers. It does not reduce costs or allow citizens and doctors to make health care decisions.

  • Texans for a Healthier Texas
This petition asks Govenor Perry to stop playing politics with the lives of Texans by rejecting millions of dollars from President Obama's Patient Bill of Rights. By accepting the Patient Bill of Rights, Texas, the number one state in the nation for providing poor healthcare to it's citizens, would provide millions of citizens with healthcare and also create more jobs in doing so.

  • Congress: It's time to label GMOs
My 11 year-old twin sons have autism. Autism and food allergy rates have skyrocketed at the same time that genetically modified foods entered our food supply. Genetically modified foods have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions in people; to sick, sterile, and dead livestock; and to damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals. Like every other American, I should have a right to know if the food I buy for my kids is genetically modified.

  • Remove toxic cleaners from California's schools
Traditional cleaners contain ingredients linked to asthma, cancer, reproductive toxicity, hormone disruption, neurotoxicity, and other negative effects. These cleaning agents contaminate the air, surfaces, and dust that surround our children, teachers, and school staff every day. I have been chemically sensitive my entire life, and have physically suffered through many days cooped up in a chemically laden classroom, both as a student and teacher. I hope to give my children a healthier environment in which to grow and learn.

  • Public sanitary facilities in public places.
Our public City Park has closed the bathrooms. I go to church there on Friday evening and there is nowhere to go to the bathroom. Public parks in different areas of town have unlocked bathrooms 24/7. I believe this is discrimination against the homeless who now do not even have a homeless shelter or somewhere to clean up anymore. The shelter became a drug rehab program after the building was completed.

  • Request Governor Walker Sign Grant for Exchange Provisions of the Health Care Grant
The US Department of Health and Human Services is awarding Grants to help states build Health Care Exchanges with other states. Wisconsin's Governor Walker has refused to participate, in hopes that Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will be overturned by Republicans winning the November election. Wisconsin is one of 16 states with Republican Governor's trying to block implementation. Wisconsite's health care is at risk. We risk losing Senior Care, an affordable Medicare Part D alternative, funding for Badger Care for low income families and those who have insurable health conditions, and more. Personally, I have few low-cost prescription drugs and am enrolled in Senior Care for $30 a year. Medicare Part D will cost me substantially more if Senior Care is dropped.

  • Ammendment To The US Constitution
This petition issues a call for the RIGHT of all American citizens to access a National Comprehensive Health Care System. Health Care for all Americans is a moral and just principle. At the age of 61, and "down-sized", I was unable to purchase reliable and cost effective health care.

  • Valley Fever Epidemic - The Best Kept Secret by the Federal Government, while millions are infect...
During Thanksgiving 2010, my son visited Arizona to meet his future father-in-law. Unbeknownst to him, he inhaled the spores responsible for Valley Fever or Coccidioidomycosis on an All-Terrain Vehicle excursion. By January 2011, he had a persistent cough. By April, he was hospitalized for shortness of breath and tested for tuberculosis, then released when the test results came out negative. By May, he was taken to another hospital after suffering two strokes and for a ruptured boil. My son was 35 years old at the time. While he has mainly recovered, he lost his job and will be on medication for the rest of his life. The fungus rests in the soil of certain areas of the Americas: southwestern US, northern Mexico and parts of Central & South America. The dangers of Valley Fever are not advertised to travelers to the Southeastern US or to those relocating to that area of the country. Currently, no cure nor vaccine for this disease exists. The fungus is currently listed by the CDC as a select agent or biological toxin. Certain portions of the population are more susceptible to this disease - Filipino, African, Native American, Latino & Asian peoples as well as men, pregnant women & people with weakened immune systems, and animals. With this petition, we hope to have the dangers of this endemic broadcasted to the public, if traveling or relocating to the southwestern United States; and we want the Federal Government to research and fund the creation of a vaccine for humans through the National Institutes of Health.

  • Accept expanded Medicaid funding under the Affordable Care Act
The economic progress of the state depends on having a healthy workforce. Oklahoma currently ranks 46th in the nation for the health of its citizens. We remind you that you said in your 2012 State of the State address that access to affordable health care is necessary for Oklahoma citizens to become healthier. We identify four reasons why the Medicaid expansion should be accepted. 1. It will reduce the number of uninsured Oklahomans. By accepting Medicaid funding, the number of uninsured poor people could be cut by 53.1 percent. Reducing the number of uninsured reduces costs for everyone and makes the healthcare system work better. 2. It protects Oklahoma hospitals. Hospitals will end up treating Oklahoma’s indigent population no matter what happens. They will end up losing millions of dollars in payments if federal funding is not accepted. 3. It will spur the economy by bringing billions of dollars to the state. This will drive more Oklahomans to seek medical services, resulting in an increased demand for medical jobs. While states will have to spend some money on Medicaid, there will be an overall budget savings because a variety of other state expenses, like uncompensated care, will go down. 4. It is philosophically the correct course to take. Health care is a right, not a privilege. The state has a responsibility and people ought to expect to be able to get health care. We urge you to accept the Medicaid expansion.
