Stop Trump: Education Not Deportation for Gay DreamerFelipe de Jesus Molina Mendoza (A# 206-252-347) is a proud graduate of Durham Public Schools. Felipe graduated from Riverside High School in 2009 with a 3.8 GPA with dreams of attending UNC Chapel Hill and majoring in nursing. Despite graduating from a North Carolina public school, Felipe was facing out-of-state tuition, a sum so great higher education became unrealistic. Left with no other option, Felipe returned to Mexico to continue his academic studies. Felipe faced discrimination and prejudice in Mexico, which led to a rapid decline in Felipe’s mental health. Felipe faced various instances of being persecuted, stalked and assaulted because of his sexual orientation. At one point, a group of men threw beer bottles at Felipe and his then boyfriend. Felipe reported the incident to the police but the police refused to act. Instead, these government officials blamed Felipe for holding hands with his boyfriend. Another time, Felipe and his boyfriend were stopped and frisked by the police and ordered not to kiss in public. With Mexican authorities refusing to protect Felipe, Felipe faced no other option but applying for asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border. During Felipe’s time in detention, Felipe was targeted by detainees and officers. Felipe was harassed, intimidated and falsely accused. Felipe and other LGBT immigrants were, then, segregated in a cell in direct view of a detention officer. Despite the fact that Felipe’s life is in danger in Mexico, Felipe was ordered deported in March 2016 and an appeal is, currently, pending. Two months ago, Felipe enrolled at Durham Technical Community College. Felipe’s dreams were crushed, again, after receiving a deportation notice from Immigration & Customs Enforcement this past Christmas Eve. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, exercise favorable prosecutorial discretion and approve Felipe’s (A# 206-252-347) stay of removal.741 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Alerta Migratoria NC

Texas A&M University-Kingsville as a Sanctuary CampusWe should be concerned about this issue out of a sense of inclusiveness, justice, and humanity. Undocumented students, staff, and their family members who live in fear of deportation threats should know that TAMUK will provide the protection that would be allowed by law or by action as a sanctuary campus.198 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Ari Sherris

Save our Loved onesHmong, Laotian, Cambodians and numerous other race from the south east Asia region have been targeted, hunted and executed for decades due to the CIA's involvement during the Vietnam war. This caused all these people to run for their lives seeking asylum in the US and many other countries around the world. Now the US government is trying to send these people with INS holding back to the very country that has been hunting, prosecuting and annihilating them for the past 4 decades. Any person from the south east Asia region entering the US on or before 2008 is due to them fearing for their lives and seeking asylum from the governmental persecution. Please stop the deportation of our loves ones to Laos and Cambodia.385 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Thao Yang

End Cholera and Protect Haitians in the USIn early November, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) started twice-weekly deportation flights to Haiti, despite Hurricane Matthew’s massive devastation just a few weeks earlier affecting two million Haitians. A broad variety of religious and political leaders have urged the President to stop the deportations, redesignate Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and expand the unfairly limited Haitian Family Reunification Program. Following the passage of Hurricane Matthew, the cholera epidemic is once again rapidly spreading throughout Haiti. The United Nations has finally begun accepting responsibility after it introduced the bacteria six years ago, but response plans remain woefully underfunded. On October 20, 27 Florida-based organizations and 24 other prominent Floridians urged US leadership in eradicating the epidemic and in compensating victims. Urge the President and Congress to support these reforms of U.S. policy towards Haiti by signing our petition.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert Naiman

Tell U.S. Mayors: Protect Undocumented Immigrants - Declare Your City a Sanctuary of Safety! #He...Mayors across the country must stand with their undocumented immigrant residents in this moment of crisis. Undocumented Immigrants like me are under attack—from Trump's assault on DACA, ICE's ruthless deportation machinery, and now Jeff Sessions' lawsuit against California's sanctuary laws. In a sanctuary city, officials implement policies to restrict local police from turning immigrants over to federal immigration agents and declare in no uncertain terms that immigrants are welcome. Without them, undocumented immigrants like me and my family are left vulnerable to racial profiling, detention and deportation. We salute the mayors of cities like Seattle, San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland who have been strong in standing with their undocumented residents. Oakland's Mayor Libby Schaaf even took the courageous step of warning her residents of ICE round-ups, which may have saved hundreds of immigrants from being torn from their families. But we know that Trump, Sessions, and ICE are turning up their aggressive tactics—ICE agents have sought to enter houses of worship, targeted immigrant rights leaders, and detained immigrants whose status should have been protected, in addition to ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and El Salvadorans. In the face of Trump's aggression, city and state leaders can—and must—be strong. This is just the beginning —we can make our cities and states safe for all!131,205 of 200,000 SignaturesCreated by Greisa Martinez

Refuse to allow taxpayer money for a U.S. border wallThe budget that the U.S. spends on border patrol has increased by more than 1,300% since 2002 to an astounding $3.8 billion in 2015. Donald Trump’s official immigration policy announcements this week would almost certainly more than double the current budget by adding 5,000 more border patrol agents, and of course–building a brick-and-mortar wall across the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico border. All of this at a time that the flow of undocumented immigrants has actually decreased—in short, it's an expensive, race-baiting absurdity in search of a problem. And yet, this false solution would have real costs—especially as the president of Mexico just reaffirmed that despite Trump's claims, Mexico will not pay for the wall. The increase in taxpayer dollars that Trump is suggesting–which could likely eclipse $4 billion or more annually–could instead fund the following: * Education for more than 375,000 school children each year. * Benefits for more than 650,000 veterans per annual fiscal year. * Investments in energy efficiencies and renewable energy at triple the rates they were in fiscal year 2015. Will you join me in asking your Senator to commit to speaking out against Trump's fiscally unsound immigration policy?1,499 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Justin Krebs

Tell President Obama to thank Donald Trump for endorsing his immigration policies ;-)Donald Trump is desperate. He's so desperate he's started to flip-flop on the issue he founded his campaign on: hatred and fear of immigrants. Asked about what he’d do with the millions of undocumented immigrants who contribute to our communities and live among our families, Donald Trump is now saying he’ll do what President Obama is doing, but “with a lot more energy.” Who knows where Donald Trump really stands, or even less where he’ll stand tomorrow, but there’s one thing President Obama can do to make Donald Trump’s head explode today. He can take credit for Donald Trump’s latest shift and thank him for showing he’s right. Unfortunately, Donald Trump moving towards President Obama on immigration is not good news. Not enough people outside of immigrant communities know that President Obama has deported more people than any other president in history. If Donald Trump were to do the same, except with “more energy” he’d deport even more people than President Obama. If President Obama thanks Donald Trump for his latest shift, it will draw attention to just how tough on immigrants President Obama has been, and give a chance to whomever is elected in a few months to make a clean break and start in a new direction. Tell President Obama to thank Donald Trump for his latest shift in immigration. Also, don’t be afraid to tweet Donald Trump about it either. We all know how much Donald Trump loves tweets.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Presente.org
