President Obama: Save our Immigration SystemThere are so many people who come to the U.S. trying to have a better life, but many reasons make them stay away from the opportunities that this country offers them. For so many years Immigrants have been fighting for Immigration Reform. If Immigration Reform could be created, it could bring better opportunities for undocumented people who want to make positive contributions to the U.S.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Blanca Rivera

President Obama: End Family DetentionExtreme gang violence in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras make the region the deadliest in the Western Hemisphere, with high rates of violence, rape, and murder. Understandably, thousands of mothers and young children have risked their lives to seek refuge from this violence in the United States. The Obama administration's response has been to detain these families in prison conditions with limited access to legal help. This injustice must end today.301 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Donna De La Cruz

The Volunteer State Welcomes RefugeesThe Tennessee General Assembly is considering SJR467, a joint resolution that would stop the resettlement of refugees in Tennessee. We cannot allow this legislation to pass. People across Tennessee are already welcoming refugees and immigrants, but we all need to make our voices heard to stop politicians from pandering to fear and passing hateful, discriminatory legislation. Join with Church World Service and the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition in asking Tennessee Senators to act with moral courage and reject SJR467 by signing our petition.5,932 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Robert Naiman

ICE: Let Pedro, Yefry, and Oscar go!During the last 2 weeks of January this year, Yefry, Oscar, and Pedro were aprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, on their way to school or work. Oscar and Pedro were both taken on their way to work. Yefry was detained at a school bus stop, before he could get on the school bus. It is inappropriate for ICE agents to be targeting young people and students at bus stops on the way to school or on their way to work. School bus stops, like schools should be considered safe places for young people, free of persecution or feeling terrorized. In 2014, these 3 young men braved the hard journey to the United States, fleeing violence and poor economic conditions in their home countries. They are hardworking students and deserve the right to stay here. Like many of the over 100,000 families that arrived here in 2014, they did not have adequate legal representation, when they applied for refugee status. Now they are facing deportation. If sent back to their home countries, they will be returning to dangerous and violent conditions, as well as poor economic prospects.702 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Kevin J. Rogers, Action NC

Stop Denying Undocumented Residents Access to Clean Water!Undocumented residents of Flint, Michigan are being denied access to free clean water, water filters, and water testing kits and being kept in the dark about the toxic water crisis. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder states "making sure the people of Flint immediately have access to safe, clean water, and that includes reaching every home to supply water, filters, replacement filter cartridges and water testing kits.” But if that was the case, why are undocumented immigrants being denied access to these very things?(1) The state’s disregard for the latino community continues as they failed to distribute information about the water crisis in spanish. Flint’s latino community is mostly Mexican and there are about 1,000 undocumented residents in the area. And many, as a result of not being properly informed, are just now learning about the contaminated water as a result of community and grassroots efforts. On top of the negligent actions of city and state officials, Flint has seen a series of predatory Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeting undocumented residents -- creating an environment of fear and intimidation for many Latino families. And thus making it increasingly more difficult for undocumented residents to get access to the information about the water crisis (2). Access to clean drinking water is a human right! It is a human rights violation to deny individuals to access clean, uncontaminated, and safe drinking water. Individuals, regardless of legal status or whether or not they have IDs, should not be refused access to a resource that all humans need to survive. FLINT: First poison water and now deportations? Tell the Obama administration to stop this now.People who have been poisoned in Flint should not have to fear the government when trying to access clean water. Communities in Flint have been poisoned for more than a year due to the reckless actions of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. And for many in the immigrant community it’s only been in the last couple of weeks that they’ve known the extent and severity of the crisis. As if the fear and the reality of being poisoned by the actions of the Snyder administration wasn’t enough, immigrant communities also have to fear being deported away from their families as they’ve tried to seek help. There have been reports of water distribution centers in Flint asking for IDs against the orders of the State of Michigan. Even worse, when immigrants have gone to pick up water at the grocery store for fear that interactions with the government could lead to their deportation, there have been reports of Immigrant and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents targeting and apprehending people. Demand that the federal government put a moratorium on raids and deportations in Flint immediately, until the water crisis is over and everyone who is at risk of lead poisoning is given proper care and support.48 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Presente.org

Stop terrifying raids on child refugees!A small child, just four-years old, was sleeping soundly over the New Year's weekend when he was abruptly woken up by feet pounding across the floor and screaming in the house. Then his worst nightmare came true: He was taken away by strangers. This just happened in Atlanta, Georgia, one of three U.S. cities, where 121 Central American refugees were abruptly removed from their homes at 4:30 in the morning. No one should be treated that way. We've all got to stand up against this inhumane treatment of children and families. It’s time for DHS to adopt practices that both respect our laws and the dignity of children seeking refuge in the United States, such as the following: • Placing child welfare experts and social workers on the border for screening children and other vulnerable individuals; those who’ve been traumatized by violence should be screened by trained professionals, not by customs border patrol agents; • Strengthening the court system capacity to review cases and ensure due process; • Recognizing that it’s not unlawful to seek asylum at our borders—children and families seeking refuge at our borders have every right to do so under current law and should not be treated as criminals; • Upholding the best interest of the child in all decisions involving children. Join us in urging the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to stop the inhumane treatment of children and families in the name of immigration law enforcement. Decency, fairness, and humanity require that we protect the well-being of the children from Central America seeking asylum in the United States and ensure that they are granted full due process under the law, including adequate legal representation.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elisa, MomsRising.org
