• Georgia Senators: The Time Is Now For Immigration Reform
We feel that to begin to repair our badly damaged immigration system, reform must be just and effective. S 744, he Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, is the best chance we've had in decades to address what most Americans consider to be a broken system. We urge Senators Chambliss and Isakson to vote yes on S 744 and begin allowing new Georgians to step out of the shadows and have the opportunity to earn a path to citizenship.

  • Tell your senators: Support a strong path to citizenship
The Congressional Budget Office just said that the Senate immigration bill will save the federal government $897 billion over the next 20 years. Now, it's on the Senate to lower the costs of applying for legal status. No one should be left out because they can't afford the $4,000 in fees and fines to apply for legal status in the current bill.

  • The drive to make North Carolina HB 786 better!
I am urging you to support amending HB 786 by adding the following principles: 1. Racial profiling should be explicitly prohibited in the bill. In fact, measures to address the practice of racial profiling by police officers should be included in the bill. 2. Data collected through this process should be used only to determine permit eligibility and should be kept confidential. 3. Law enforcement officers should not be allowed to confiscate the vehicles of drivers who are found driving without a permit. 4. Those seeking eligibility to obtain a driving permit should not have to pay insurance premiums up front. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I believe we can work together to make this bill the best bill it can be and in doing so, help keep families together.

  • Congressman Kevin McCarthy, A Key Vote for Immigration Reform
Congressman Kevin McCarthy's vote to defund Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was a major disappointment to me and other constituents of the Central Valley. These students want nothing more than to contribute as productive citizens to the country they call home. His vote proposes to deprive the world of the contributions these young people could make in the future. ¡Sí Se Puede! Dolores Huerta President Dolores Huerta Foundation

  • Immigration A people issue not a political trick
Senator Rubio is trying to make major changes to the bill. It is looking like he is trying to score political points without actually passing a bill.

  • Rep. Cantor: Stop playing political games and pass immigration reform
As Speaker Boehner's right-hand man, Eric Cantor is one of the most powerful Republicans in the House. Ever since Latino and immigrant voters decided the outcome of the 2012 election, he has talked about the need to fix our broken immigration system. In fact, few Republicans have appeared to embrace this change more than Eric Cantor from Virginia. Earlier this year, Cantor even said about the children of undocumented immigrants, "A good place to start is with the kids. One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents." But while Rep. Cantor's rhetoric has changed, his extreme ideology apparently has not. Instead of standing with immigrants when it really counts, he has turned his back on these young people and sided with the extremists in his party. This is DC hypocrisy at its worst! Until last year, nearly a million children of undocumented immigrants were restricted from doing many basic things like driving, going to college, or applying for jobs. Their immigration status forced them to live in the shadows and prevented them from pursuing their American Dream. But last year these young people -- often called DREAMers -- and the entire immigrant community won a huge victory when President Obama announced the deferred action policy which allowed them to finally come out of the shadows and pursue their dreams through a temporary fix to their status. Recently, Rep. Cantor sided with the extremists shamefully trying to dismantle this victory and voted to block all funding to the program and put DREAMers at risk of deportation. While his vote was mostly a symbolic gesture, since there’s no chance the House bill as it is will be passed by the Senate, this was a direct attack on children and young immigrants. Americans are looking for leadership on immigration reform, not more attacks. Please join us in telling Rep. Cantor we're tired of his party's political games. It's time we pass immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship.

  • GOP House Leadership: Stop playing political games and pass immigration reform
House Republicans are at it again. Their recent attack on young immigrants shows just how far they are willing to go to please the extremists in their party. Until last year, nearly a million children of undocumented immigrants were restricted from doing many basic things like driving, going to college, or applying for jobs. Their immigration status forced them to live in shadows and prevented them from pursuing their American Dream. But last year these young people -- often called DREAMers -- and the entire immigrant community won a huge victory when President Obama announced the deferred action policy which allowed them to finally come out of the shadows and pursue their dreams through a temporary fix to their status. Now nearly all Republican members of the House are shamefully trying to dismantle this victory by blocking all funding to the program and putting DREAMers at risk of deportation. While this vote was mostly a symbolic gesture (since there’s no chance the House bill as is will be passed by the Senate), this was a direct attack on children and young immigrants. Our community is looking for leadership on immigration reform, not more attacks. Please join us in telling the GOP House leadership that we're tired of their party's political games.
