• Bus service for hazardous area
As a concerned parent of a student of Cedar Valley Middle school, I know that the rapid growth of our area has created many changes and hazards, one of them being the heavy increase in traffic and therefore deeming the "walk zone" for the school not being something that should be decided only based on geographical distance but also the safety of having to walk or ride a bicycle to school everyday. For this reason, in May 2015 I presented this request to the RRISD board. So far there has been no change on the bus service to our area or a formal response from any responsible authority. I hope that if we can get most parents who believe that we should have bus service in our area to sign this petition, we then will have a stronger case and voice to make a change happen.

  • Blue Streak Monument for Evan Murray
Warren Hills High School needs a way to keep Evan's memory alive and to help the athletes cope with his passing. A memorial that they can touch before each game would be such a way. Evan's mom Kelly does not want us to forget her boy. We must show her that we will never, ever, forget Evan.

  • Proposed development at 1005 Northgate Drive San Rafael
Terra Linda is a suburban neighborhood with a small town pace, charm and an existing, appropriate population density. Constructing a behemoth of this sort will adversely affect the character and general culture of our neighborhood with unwanted traffic congestion, noise and light pollution, and an exponential increase in the number of residents and vehicles in a finite space.

  • Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: Stop selling out our neighborhoods to Wall Street!
Wall Street speculators are buying up neighborhoods across America. Their goal? Squeeze a profit out of struggling homeowners. Private equity firms and Hedge Funds have quietly amassed mortgage notes to 200,000 homes in communities around the USA -- and they're getting special treatment from the government to aid their conquests. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (overseen by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, or FHFA) have refused to offer principal reduction to struggling homeowners, then they turn around and sell these troubled mortgages to Wall Street speculators at a deep discount. Our government agencies are supposed to work for American families -- not for the biggest financial institutions. Tell Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to stop selling these troubled mortgages to Wall Street, and instead sell them to non-profits with a track record of offering loan modifications with principal reduction to help families stay in their homes!

  • Improve the Debate Process - Change the Rules
I was born on Election Day and my Mother, an immigrant to the United States and naturalized citizen, insisted on going to vote before going to the hospital. I watched the two Republican debates and came away with more questions than answers. The issues facing our country are serious and our vote for the President is one of the most important responsibilities we have as citizens of this country. We, the people, deserve debates that address the issues and allow sufficient time to discuss and debate. We deserve debates where facts are presented and sound bites are discouraged. This is why I am proposing that those hosting the debates, the Chairs of the Republican and Democratic parties, and the candidates from both parties, embrace and accept my recommendation for debate rules / guideline. I hope, if you agree, you will sign the petition and ask that the above people respect the voting public by adopting these changes.

  • DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz: We're Holding Out Monetary Support until We Get More Debates
Many have called on the DNC and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz for increasing the number Democratic debates but the DNC(supposedly the "people's" party) is not listening to us, the people! In order for Democrats to choose the best candidate possible, more debates are necessary. I choose to vote for more debates by withholding all donations from the DNC and I urge you all to do the same!

  • Bernie Sanders media blackout
Chris Matthews is a top participant in the media blackout against Bernie Sanders and I feel that the media blackout against Bernie Sanders is unjust and goes against the American way of balance and fairness in American politics. His behavior is something I would expect from the FOX network, NOT MSNBC. It is a disgrace! We want balanced coverage of all the candidates including Bernie Sanders.

  • Start primary debates between ALL Democratic presidential candidates NOW!
We need exposure to ALL candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination! I like @HillaryClinton very much but do not appreciate the corporate media choosing her as the inevitable candidate! @BernieSanders has excellent policies but is getting a fraction of media coverage that Secretary Clinton is! The same is true with Lawrence @Lessig @LincolnChafee @MartinOMalley @JimWebbUSA. The American people deserve a discussion about the truth and valid solutions from which to choose. We DEMAND equal media coverage!

The Pope preaches global tolerance and he's been fighting corruption from day one at the Vatican. Kutesa, President of the United Nations General Assembly and a senior official in a government that promoted an anti-LGBT law does not exemplify the values of Pope Francis or the ideals of the United Nations -- fighting corruption and ensuring human rights for all regardless of race, religion, national origin, and sexual orientation.
