Bridge at Eager north of M59A bridge has been deemed unsafe due to load bearing test. Now, the entire TAX PAYING community that has children that go to Hutchings Elementary are terribly inconvenienced. Now there is only 1 road out of the school. Latson Road. That means there is only 1 way for emergency responders to get to the school. That could mean the difference between life and death. On a smaller note, many people go over the bridge to go through the back entrance of the school to pick up and drop off their children. This bridge needs to be fixed. The information I've been given is that there are zero funds available for use on this bridge. Zero funds when I see all of Detroit and Flint and Pontiac have road crews fixing bridges. Unfortunately since we aren't in an urban area, we just get to pay for the bridges of other communities and our own does not get fixed. We all pay taxes to the state of Michigan.706 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Scott Moore

No Bust for CheneyBusts of former Vice Presidents, though a long standing tradition, should not be slavishly continued without considerations for the past. I do not believe that Dick Chaney served his country well. I believe that he did more harm than good. Perhaps we should reconsider? What do you think? Time is short. The unveiling of the marble bust of Vice President Richard Cheney will be on December 3, 2015. Let your voice be heard on this issue.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charles Trahan

Bring River Home NowMy son was kidnapped from my arms by my domestic abuser and taken over state lines on false testimony and perjury--but through the court system at a secret hearing! There has been much abuse done to me and my son since July 2015 by King County Superior Court, My abuser-Adam Lewis, and his lawyer, Nathan Cliber. My son is gone and I cannot even get a hearing to present evidence when this is a known and state documented domestic abuser, and erratic child abandoner/abuser. All evidence points to that--the courts refuse to look at evidence.144 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Lonna Anderson

Stop The Killing In ChicagoThe Halloween weekend alone brought the city’s violence level to 2,578 shot this year with 378 killed by gunfire. 20 year old Kaylyn Pryor and 9 year old Tyshawn Lee, were killed by gun violence this week. How many more innocent lives need to be taken? We can no longer allow the killing to continue. We need to come together to tackle this violence that is crippling our communities. Let's join together to continue raising the awareness, and try to put an end to Chicago's violence problem.701 of 800 SignaturesCreated by LaShawn Ford

Equal Access for All High School Racers at HylandCurrently, Hyland's premier race lanes are dedicated to a private ski club. As a result, 84% of the High School racers who train with 16 teams at Hyland never get a chance to train on the steepest, best lit and best-equipped lanes. Athlete safety and development are the primary goals for all race teams. Skiers must have access to challenging and varied terrain to develop competitive and safe racing skills. Hyland is a public resource and all high school ski racers, whether they are on a private team or a public high school team, pay the same amount to train -- the cost of an annual pass. Will you join us in signing a petition to request fair allocation of Hyland's training terrain? Please visit Citz4Hyland.com for more information.552 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Paul Hoffman

We Support and Thank CLU Res Life, Multicultural Programs, and the CEJ DepartmentAfter their inspiration from Wesleyan Student Affairs and Hampshire College to create a poster spreading awareness about insensitive costumes this Halloween, we are inspired to thank them for their efforts and intentions in creation of the poster. We would like to applaud the following people for their efforts in promoting and fostering an environment that encourages respect and appreciation of students from all walks of life. We, as students, are thankful to Andrew Hanson, Dr. Juanita Hall, and Dr. Rahuldeep Gill and their respective departments that helped create a flyer challenging students to question whether or not their costumes are offensive. In a world where being "politically correct" has become a dirty word for some, we see politically correct as treating people with respect. This poster helps and encourages students to question their own costumes, as well as their friends' costumes this Halloween. This aids in helping to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes, misinformation, historical and cultural inaccurate so we do not mock, trivialize, reduce, or generalize any specific group. This poster and furthermore, these departments, have intentions to raise awareness and in fact, encourage campus-wide dialogue on the diverse cultures, identities, and backgrounds present on campus, in our community, and globally. These posters are in alignment with the California Lutheran University's Mission Statement in that they are educating "leaders for a global society who are strong in character and judgment, confident in their identity and vocation, and committed to service and justice." Although this poster is just a poster, it has started conversations on campus and encourages the respect for the diversity on and beyond our campus. While some may disagree with these posters, those that sign this petition encourage and support these individuals and their departments to continue to challenge and spark conversation on the topics of diversity and respect.178 of 200 SignaturesCreated by CLU Feminism Is...

Demand CLU Residence Life ApologizeRecently, Residence Life circulated flyers throughout residence halls ordering students to question whether or not their costume was offensive, or if they “represent a culture that is not [their] own.” Residence Life seems to be saying that it is only acceptable for students to wear a costume that represents their own culture? For example, are only Native Americans allowed to wear Native American costumes? Are only Japanese students allowed to wear ninja costumes? Isn't it offensive to reduce such deep and historically important cultures into stereotypes that must not be perpetuated, and to confine the celebration of said cultures to themselves? Is this not cultural segregation? Why does Residence Life assume that by a student dressing in a certain costume, it means that they are mocking that culture/religion? How does Residence Life know that they are not appreciating and showing respect for that culture? This does a disservice to the students of CLU by asserting that it is better to be offended than to express yourself. Residence Life does not give enough credit to the students to make wise choices, and reverts to taking away their rights to choose whatever costume that they so choose. By posting this poster around campus, Residence Life is the one creating a negative stereotype of all students at CLU. Residence Life is making a mockery of your students by believing that we cannot make wise choices because we are only college students and that we don’t know any better, when in fact, we are adults and they should give us the credit that we deserve. The students of CLU deserve an apology for Residence Life’s offensive assumptions.
