Current voting machines are touch screen computers that leave no paper record of your vote. There is no way to test accuracy or have a recount. The machines are not tamper proof.

HAVE AMERICAN DOG CLUB SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD! Yes, right next to Build-a-Bear in the Smith Haven Mall. Anyone with a functioning nose KNOWS that the smell of that place screams unsanitary, abuse, and laziness. Those teeny little boxes with metal bars as the ground that display these poor pups are no way to live a life. The dogs drink out of little hamster water droppers. The newspaper that barely covers half of the ground is so dirty that the store can be smelt when entering that part of the mall. Each time I go in there, I see about 30 people hovering over the dogs and tapping the glass. The people in this world need to open their eyes and STOP being so selfish. You have no idea how far a small gesture can go. By signing this petition, we can get all of those puppies healthy again and into a safer environment.

Caltrans has ranked the intersection at El Camino Real and Rosedale/Ray Drive to be one of the two most dangerous intersections in Burlingame. We need to safeguard our children and other pedestrians from potentially fatal traffic accidents. For the last century, New Jersey law has required sales of public water systems to go before the voters. The idea is that politicians shouldn’t just be able to sell off what generations of New Jerseyans built together, and that the public should have the right to review any sale of a resources as fundamental as water. But the New Jersey Legislature just passed a bill that cuts voters out of the picture. Instead of making the case for these sales to the voters, multinational water companies want to work exclusively with the elected officials whose campaigns they help bankroll. Selling off water systems might provide a one-time infusion of cash to towns and cities, but it's the ratepayers who end up paying the cost. Water companies can make sky-high bids with the full knowledge that they can raise rates to cover the cost of the purchase. This is a blatant attack on democracy and local control, and a veto is our last chance to stop it.

Rabbi Kane has given 22 years of devoted and effective service as the leader of CSI, and the thought that any of the very real long-term financial and membership issues facing the congregation (and which, as you know, face the Conservative movement generally) would be ameliorated by firing our Rabbi is ludicrous. He has enriched our lives in many different ways- through his teaching, his spiritual guidance, his encouragement of meaningful engagement with Jewish life, the outstanding educational programming he has brought to the shul, his leadership in Westchester on behalf of Israel advocacy, and the innumerable large and small acts of kindness he has performed on behalf of so many members of the community and our families. We strongly believe that separating Rabbi Kane from CSI would be devastating to the community, and it would also irrevocably change our relationship with CSI as well.
