• Signature needed: The Christie scandal you don't know about yet
Gov. Chris Christie has unilaterally passed a regulation that blocks automakers from directly selling to consumers in New Jersey, requiring them to go through third-party car dealers instead. As a direct result, Tesla—the electric car company that reduces our dependence on fossil fuels—must now close its two dealerships in the state. New Jersey is the third state to kick out Tesla that way, the other two being Arizona and Texas. It is an intentional move on the part of Republican politicians to kill the electric car. Sign the petition denouncing Gov. Christie for killing the electric car in New Jersey.

  • Campus Green: Not Liable
My wrist bone was shattered and I had to have an emergency surgery because I slipped on the ice that was left on the sidewalks in Campus Green for days. Campus Green's lease states that they are not responsible for clearing the snow on the sidewalks or the streets and if a resident were to fall and injure him/herself they are not liable.

  • GMO LABELING
There are no laws governing the disclosure of GMO use in the products we buy and consume every day. The studies have proven that GMO's are linked to many adverse and dangerous health effects when consumed. The consumer should have the rite to be able to make intelligient choices on what we want to buy and consume based on accurate information provided by the companies who sell these products. It is very difficult and almost impossible at this point to be able to avoid these products without adequate labeling laws put into effect immediatly.

  • Keep the Vape in Vape Shops-Long Beach
Sampling is a major part of the vaping industry. Doctors from around the globe agree that e-cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes. The city council and Council Member Suja Lowenthal think that conviction enough is a reason for current smokers to try the alternative. Smokers who have tried the patch, the inhalers, the gum, medication, all to no avail. It's made us skeptical. Vape shops allow people interested in seeking an alternative to learn more, try it out and answer any questions along the way. Every other city around Long Beach has added amendments allowing Vape shops to sample and keep their lounges. The council members admitted they didn't know enough on the topic and that more time should be taken to do it right, however they got tired of deliberating and passed the ordinance as it stood. The ordinance also lacks any sort of grandfathering in of Vape shops. If forced to be regulated similar to tobacco shops, we may lose some of our favorite shops due to zoning restrictions. Sign this petition. Help local small businesses. Keep Long Beach on a level playing field and show City Council we won't stand for lazy policy making. Who knows, together we might even save some lives.

  • Keep Alaska's Records in Alaska
NARA's Anchorage facility holds the most important records in the state. These include Fish and Wildlife Service records, military records, court records, maritime logs, and the records for the federal agencies that impact all Alaskans. These records are essential to our history, our identity, and for the empowerment of Alaska communities. They must be accessible to Alaskans in Alaska, not shipped to Seattle.

  • Ban the legalization of beastiality, and the functioning of animal brothels. Bringing awarenss ab...
I have started this petition because I'm a lover of animals, and I believe that they deserve advocates to represent them. After seeing photographs and videos of animal brothels all over the world showing helpless animals tied down and sodomized and raped by human beings, laying in pools of their own blood, it made me so sick to my stomach. I know that there's others out there that feel the same way . This is happening in countries like Sweden,Brazil,Belgium,Germany,Russia, and Denmark. As well as in the U.S., places like Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Kansas, North Carolina, and New Mexico too. Some of these states have laws protecting animals of certain abuse but not necessarily sexual abuse. I hope we can get as many signatures as possible to at least deem the petition worthy of recognition by officials who hold places in office.

  • WE WANT STEVE SMITH AS A CAROLINA PANTHER!
Steve Smith gave his entire professional NFL career to the Carolina Panthers. He gave his heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears, and body to the Charlotte, NC area and Panthers fans around the nation. Always giving us a show and keeping us pumped up with every reception. He showed up and gave his all every time he was on that field, not matter how far ahead, or how far behind his team was. I realize eventually Steve will have to retire, but not like this. He has earned a place on that field for 1 more year. This petition is simple. Panthers fans who sign agree they will not purchase any merchandise that supports the Carolina Panthers, and will not purchase any tickets to see the Carolina Panthers, until Steve Smith is allowed to finish out at least 1 more year of his professional football career with the Carolina Panthers. He has made sacrifices for us, it's time we return the favor!!!!!!!

  • Pharmacists: Stop participating in executions
All major pharmaceutical companies in the US and Europe have now banned their drugs from being used in executions. States intent on killing prisoners have been forced to turn to so-called ‘compounding pharmacists’ -- who are not regulated by the FDA -- to create their own deadly cocktails that will, however painfully or slowly, cause the death of the recipient. If the American Pharmacists Association would ban their members from participating in executions—as all other major medical associations have already done-- the Association could help end the death penalty in the US once and for all.

  • Tell CrossFit to change its anti-transgender policy
CrossFit needs to change its policy that allows transgender athletes to compete under their consistent, lived gender identity. Last year, Chloie Jonnson registered to compete in the CrossFit Games, a contest aimed at determining the fittest man and woman. Chloie is a transgender woman, has been living as a woman since her teenage years, and registered as such. Chloie was then anonymously outed to CrossFit as a transgender woman. The response of CrossFit was to invalidate her registration and state that all athletes must register and compete under their birth gender. When pressed further, CrossFit issued a letter that said: "The fundamental, ineluctable fact is that a male competitor who has a sex reassignment procedure still has the genetic makeup that confers a physical and physiological advantage over women. That Chloie may have felt herself emotionally, and very conscientiously, to be a woman in her heart, and that she ultimately underwent the legal and other surgical procedures to carry that out, cannot change that reality. Further, the timing of her sex reassignment surgery (and any subsequent hormone therapy) does not change this discussion. … Our decision has nothing to do with ‘ignorance’ or being bigots — it has to do with a very real understanding of the human genome, of fundamental biology, that you are either intentionally ignoring or missed in high school." An organization cannot rightfully claim to "welcome trans* athletes with open arms" and then create conditions which prevent them from participating. As I have outlined on www.transathlete.com, many athletic governing bodies, including the International Olympic Committee, have created guidelines for allowing trans athletes to compete as their lived gender. It is ridiculous to think Chloie Jonsson would meet the standards for transgender women to compete at the highest level of sports but is not allowed to compete in CrossFit. The policies that CrossFit is employing regarding transgender athletes has damaged its reputation, hurt countless transgender athletes, and need to be replaced with an inclusive policy that allows transgender athletes to compete as their consistent and lived gender. -- Chris Mosier, www.transathlete.com

  • Confirm Debo Adegbile to lead Department of Justice Civil Rights Division
Debo Adegbile is one of the nation's top civil rights attorneys and a leading expert on voting rights. He has defended the Voting Rights Act before the Supreme Court twice — the first time, successfully — and he was the only Black attorney to argue before the Supreme Court last term. At a time when the voting rights of Black folks, women, the elderly, students and many others are under attack, an appointment like Adegbile's would ensure that there was someone in the Justice Department who knows what's at stake and will take a principled stand to defend the rights and privileges we all cherish, including the freedom to vote. We demand another vote to confirm Adegbile's nomination.

  • Beautify Long Beach!
Now a year and a half after Hurricane Sandy, Long Beach is starting to make a comeback. Now is the time to beautify Long Beach. I propose murals at the end of each boulevard on the walls of the boardwalk (if not elsewhere as well). Each depicting a scene from Long Beach History. It would be a fantastic addition to this city's great culture and a tourist must see! I would be happy to lead this project with other local artist's. Would you welcome this to our city? If so please sign the petition. Thank you! Best wishes, Rob Rothman
