  • Keep the Maryvale Elementary School Neighborhood Safe
One of us has a child at Maryvale Elementary, and both of us have children who will soon attend... and this is our neighborhood. The announcement concerned us, as parents and residents, and even more when we read stories on the industry's own websites. Opposing this use of the land, is a simple way to help keep our children and neighborhood safe, and encourage intelligent land use that will improve our neighborhood, not simply generate tax income.

  • USDA: Protect the safety of US foodstuffs instead of the profits of the agribusiness conglomerates
When we already have so many health problems associated with industrialized-produced foodstuffs in the US, it makes no sense to increase the odds of worsening our problems by shipping US-raised chickens to China for processing before being shipped back to the US for consumption. (It also makes little sense to begin offshoring even more American jobs.) At the very least, require that such food products be labeled clearly so that US consumers can be aware if their chicken took a little detour to China between the farm and our tables.

  • Signature needed: The Christie scandal you don't know about yet
Gov. Chris Christie has unilaterally passed a regulation that blocks automakers from directly selling to consumers in New Jersey, requiring them to go through third-party car dealers instead. As a direct result, Tesla—the electric car company that reduces our dependence on fossil fuels—must now close its two dealerships in the state. New Jersey is the third state to kick out Tesla that way, the other two being Arizona and Texas. It is an intentional move on the part of Republican politicians to kill the electric car. Sign the petition denouncing Gov. Christie for killing the electric car in New Jersey.

  • Campus Green: Not Liable
My wrist bone was shattered and I had to have an emergency surgery because I slipped on the ice that was left on the sidewalks in Campus Green for days. Campus Green's lease states that they are not responsible for clearing the snow on the sidewalks or the streets and if a resident were to fall and injure him/herself they are not liable.

  • GMO LABELING
There are no laws governing the disclosure of GMO use in the products we buy and consume every day. The studies have proven that GMO's are linked to many adverse and dangerous health effects when consumed. The consumer should have the rite to be able to make intelligient choices on what we want to buy and consume based on accurate information provided by the companies who sell these products. It is very difficult and almost impossible at this point to be able to avoid these products without adequate labeling laws put into effect immediatly.

  • Keep the Vape in Vape Shops-Long Beach
Sampling is a major part of the vaping industry. Doctors from around the globe agree that e-cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes. The city council and Council Member Suja Lowenthal think that conviction enough is a reason for current smokers to try the alternative. Smokers who have tried the patch, the inhalers, the gum, medication, all to no avail. It's made us skeptical. Vape shops allow people interested in seeking an alternative to learn more, try it out and answer any questions along the way. Every other city around Long Beach has added amendments allowing Vape shops to sample and keep their lounges. The council members admitted they didn't know enough on the topic and that more time should be taken to do it right, however they got tired of deliberating and passed the ordinance as it stood. The ordinance also lacks any sort of grandfathering in of Vape shops. If forced to be regulated similar to tobacco shops, we may lose some of our favorite shops due to zoning restrictions. Sign this petition. Help local small businesses. Keep Long Beach on a level playing field and show City Council we won't stand for lazy policy making. Who knows, together we might even save some lives.

  • Keep Alaska's Records in Alaska
NARA's Anchorage facility holds the most important records in the state. These include Fish and Wildlife Service records, military records, court records, maritime logs, and the records for the federal agencies that impact all Alaskans. These records are essential to our history, our identity, and for the empowerment of Alaska communities. They must be accessible to Alaskans in Alaska, not shipped to Seattle.

  • Ban the legalization of beastiality, and the functioning of animal brothels. Bringing awarenss ab...
I have started this petition because I'm a lover of animals, and I believe that they deserve advocates to represent them. After seeing photographs and videos of animal brothels all over the world showing helpless animals tied down and sodomized and raped by human beings, laying in pools of their own blood, it made me so sick to my stomach. I know that there's others out there that feel the same way . This is happening in countries like Sweden,Brazil,Belgium,Germany,Russia, and Denmark. As well as in the U.S., places like Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Kansas, North Carolina, and New Mexico too. Some of these states have laws protecting animals of certain abuse but not necessarily sexual abuse. I hope we can get as many signatures as possible to at least deem the petition worthy of recognition by officials who hold places in office.
