• Stop Selling Puppies in Pet Stores
To many dogs are suffering in these puppy mills. According to the Humane Society of the United States out of 100 worst puppy mills 2 are located right here in Illinois. People pay large amounts of money for dogs that come from an uncared for, sick, deprived mother who is forced to mate. Many of these puppies from the store come with hidden health issues and when the owners cannot afford to take care of them they wind up in Humane Society's or abandoned. This only creates a larger issue of homeless animals!

A photo uploaded to Facebook this past Friday has gone viral due to its racist and disrespectful tenor. A trio of young Floridians appear in the image, a woman flanked by two men, with the two men unabashedly wearing handmade Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman Halloween costumes. The Zimmerman costume consists of a black "neighborhood watch" t-shirt while the Martin costume includes black face and a blood stained grey hooded sweatshirt. In addition, the Zimmerman character has fashioned his hand into a gun and is pointing it at Martin's head. Your policies state: •We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity). Hate Speech "Hate speech" refers to content that promotes hatred against members of a protected group. For instance, racist or sexist content may be considered hate speech. Sometimes there is a fine line between what is and what is not considered hate speech. For instance, it is generally okay to criticize a nation, but not okay to make insulting generalizations about people of a particular nationality. ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!

  • YES widen sidewalks on Potrero Avenue!
San Francisco citizens have taken part in years of planning for how to improve safety for all street users as our city grows. Wider sidewalks and bulbouts make walking more pleasant and crossing the street safer, especially for seniors and people with disabilities. Preservation of city-subsidized free parking shouldn't take precedence over pedestrian safety and a more walkable city. Details of plans for a better Potrero Avenue available at http://sfdpw.org/index.aspx?page=1673.

I believe that soccer can strive in our town and we can be the leaders in bringing it to other neighboring towns. Please sign this petition to help bring soccer to our community. Please only sign this petition if you are a resident of Brimfield or you have a child that goes to Brimfield.

  • Addition of the Madison, SD Skate Park
It would be beneficial to children in Madison, SD, to expand and update the present skate park. The present skate park limits children's abilities due to space and quality. By updating the skate park we have the potential to motivate the local youth to get outside and be active. By expanding the skate park we can prevent youth skaters, skating on public property.

  • Outdoor Patio Grilling
There is a great desire among the residents of the the Ritz Residence to be able to cook (grill) outdoors on our individual patios. We would also like to petition the Board for the construction of a large outdoor gas grill which can be used by the Ritz community at large. Our living experience at the Ritz would be greatly enhanced with the outdoor grilling capability.

  • Veteran Affair Unfair Education Benefits
I am a veteran who has been denied my education benefits. I have been in the military since 2004 and have served overseas. The Veterans Administration has denied me my hard worked education benefits due to their interpretation of the law. Even the representatives at the Veterans Administration have stated that my individual case is unfair and does not make sense, that i am being wrongfully denied. The Department of the Army, Human Resource Command has also stated that they feel like "i am being punished" because of a wrongful interpretation of the law. I am fighting to correct this unfair interpretation of the law. I have worked and fought for this country, under the impression that I would have benefits that are earned through serving the United States. I have put my education on hold to go overseas and fight. I know I am not the only Soldier that has been screwed out of education benefits. When they changed the education benefits back in 2009 and added the Post 9/11 any service member that used chapter 30 and continued to serve after that was denied or given a lower amount of months to use chapter 33 benefits which is the Post 9/11. The Veterans Administration purposely does not inform the Service Member what the best option is for using education benefits. Many Service Members have lost money and time for their schooling because the VA does not assist the member. they try to keep as much money as possible. The VA is not our friend. They do not care. I am asking for help in making this unfair action address and corrected. Military Service Members should have their education benefits corrected. We put our life on the line 24/7, to serve and protect this wonderful country. Please help me get all of our education benefits back.
