Cell Phone Tower: Morgan County Human SocietyMorgan County Humane Society, a non-profit, no kill shelter is trying to get a cell phone tower on our property in Morgan County, just outside of Hartselle, AL. Not only will this provide the shelter with much needed funds to maintain the facility and care for the animals, it will provide the community better coverage in an area with limited coverage. We've been told we need 5,000 signatures for a tower to be considered on our property. Please help us and the animals!11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by MCHS

Florida Insurance Regulatory Reform ActRequire full financial disclosure of all insurance companies and any and all related companies, including offshore subsidiaries. Our homeowners insurance rates are rising very fast and all we hear is excuse after excuse about their financial condition. Without having to present complete and truthful financial disclosure our regulators are flying blind.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizens

Fair use of Queen's Beach, Waikiki (4) Sand Volleyball CourtsThe Queen's beach "Sandbox" is the only location on-island available to set up volleyball nets, and the current community of volleyball players have long used the space without conflict, inviting a constant flux of players at all levels. In the last year, no less than two organizations have secured exclusive use of the space to promote their "for a fee" volleyball programs. Additionally, college teams use the courts for practice and tournaments. The time available to individuals not affiliated with these organizations is now unreliable at best, and nearly non-existant. Furthermore, players have been told to take down their personal nets to allow for the organizations' use, because they have "permits" securing their exclusive use of the public space. The expected "first-come, first-served" implicit rule that normally governs public spaces is exploited by some individuals who now set up their equipment early in the day, (during work hours, for example) and leave the net up when not in use to prevent use of the courts, effectively "reserving" the courts. Additionally, the organized teams, youth clubs, and fitness groups use each of the four courts, when there are others wanting to play-- and the organizations might be accommodated on one, two, or even three courts-- leaving at least one for non-organization use. Your role, as a member of the sand volleyball playing community, with a vested interest in securing equal opportunities to play on these courts, is to take proactive action to voice your concerns. Please sign this petition and describe your observations, suggestions and perspectives--- urging our representatives to take action to provide more spaces to play sand volleyball, or create statute that will result in fair and equitable access to anyone wishing to play sand volleyball on Queen's Beach, Waikiki.191 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Joshua Lyons

Front Avenue Garage: Free Parking Garage or Death Trap?Every day and night as I proceed to enter the Front Avenue Garage I take a deep breath and cross my fingers in hopes that I make it to a secure parking spot without encountering, or becoming a part of a head-on collision. This parking garage failed to be constructed with the actual use of vehicles in mind. This is a constant safety issue and I myself have almost gotten into an accident a few times and I have almost gotten knocked down by a car while walking to my dormitory because the driver could not see clearly around the corner.33 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kayla A. I support disc golf at Pinto Lake County ParkPinto Lake Championship Disc Golf Course is a tremendous success story, transforming a once overgrown and dangerous public space into a thriving park that has witnessed dramatically increased use from disc golfers, walkers, joggers, bicyclists, bird-watchers, picnickers, etc.. It has hosted large womens tournaments, and even a world championship with hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators. Tom Schot has received numerous awards in recognition of his work at Pinto Lake. However, a small (but vocal) group of residents in Soquel don't understand what has happened at Pinto Lake, and even believe that disc golf has been destructive to the environment and has scared away other park users. They have actually gone so far as to request a significant reduction or complete removal of the course.1,315 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by John Hernlund

GMO Food Labels for FloridaIn the modern era of commercial food supply, it is clear American Agribusiness wants to keep consumers in the dark. In fact, corn, soy, canola, cotton, alfalfa, papaya, sugar beets, zucchini, and yellow summer squash are commonly cultivated in chemical resistant, genetically engineered forms with no labeling requirements. Consumers have the right to know whether the foods they purchase contain genetically engineered material. Manipulating genes and inserting them into the commercial food supply is an imprecise process that produces results that are not always predictable or controllable, and could lead to adverse health or environmental consequences. Without mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods, consumers may unknowingly violate their own dietary and religious principles. More than 60 countries around the world, including the European Union, Russia, China, Japan, and South Africa have laws mandating the disclosure of genetically engineered foods on food labels. Consumers should have the choice to avoid purchasing foods that could cause adverse health and environmental consequences. We stand with the thousands of families, farmers, and advocates in helping Florida lead the way on labeling genetically engineered foods. We have a right to know what’s in the food we’re eating and feeding our families. STAND UP FOR CONSUMER RIGHTS. VOTE YES ON HB 1233, SB 1728, or any piece of legislation requiring proper labeling of genetically engineered foods.618 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Dr. J. Adam Metzger

Save Our Neighborhood Librariesi have learned that there is a move to change the neighborhood landscape as it relates to our libraries. I have attended two meetings concerning the Business Library in downtown Brooklyn. The plan as I understand it is to build a condominum and have the library in the basement on a lease arrangement. I believe if people can't see the library the n less people will not attend the library. right now people who don't live in the Heights appear to be the users of the library and not so much the people who live there,\ Are we trying to restructure the library so that people from other communities can;t use them? Just thinking outside the box. In Clinton Hill, I understand they are thinking of building housing on top of the present library(use of the air rights). In my community. We already have buildings that are empty because people can't get jobs and can't afford the housing that is already here. Who are we building this new housing for ? (Are we getting ready to do another regentrification)? We do have others in my community already, so is this to get rid of those of us who are still able to keep our brownstones and co-ops? Just Thinking, wondering. Someone please speak to us in the 8th Congressional district. Why don't we have enough money to keep our libraries. We need our Libraries for our children and for our Seniors and others too. But we need someone to tell why we can't have Libraries like we have always had. Please sign my petition if you are concerned about the Neighborhood Library. .37 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Eunice Morrison-Skinner

Tell the FCC to keep prime time free of nudityThe FCC is planning to remove it's ban on the f word and partial nudity on regular day time television. They are only taking input on this topic this month. Please contact them. As a mother I already have a hard time maintaining the innocents of my three children. I think it's inappropriate and wrong to remove this ban and allow frontal nudity and the f word being broadcast on daytime television. Please stand up against this.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Melissa Kelley

Stop FCC's effort to drop ban on f-word, nudity on television and radio stations nationwideThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced it is considering dropping current broadcast decency standards that ban explicit profanity and "non-sexual" nudity.Specifically, if enacted, the new FCC policy would allow network television and local radio stations to air the f-word, the s-word and to allow programs to show frontal female nudity, even during hours when they know children will be watching and listening.121 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Henry Harris
