As a peninsular state surrounded by water, and filled with miles of Everglades wetlands, we, of all states, should be making the greatest effort to reduce our waste. Florida’s coasts, wetlands, springs and marine life support tourism and have helped the state amass great wealth year-round. We need to protect the greatest natural treasures of this state. Ban single-use plastic bags for good. Let’s be the 9th state to do so, alongside California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New York, Oregon and Vermont.

How Sidewalks Would Improve our Community: • Would provide sidewalk access to two entrances of Rock Creek Park Paths (Parkvale Rd and Manorvale Rd) • Provides sidewalk access for students walking to Earle B Wood Middle School and Rock Creek Valley Elementary School and the Earle B Wood Park on the school’s grounds • Provides sidewalk access to Bauer Driver Community Recreation Center • Would allow sidewalk access (via Rock Creek Park Path) to Tikvat Israel, and Twinbrook Baptist Church • Provides sidewalk access to Bus Stop (Bus 48 Line) at intersection of Greenspan Lane and Bauer Drive • Allows sidewalk access to Rock Creek Village center grocery stores/restaurants • All three roads are being used by drivers from outside the neighborhood as a short cut around Rock Creek Village Center and associated traffic • There have been car accidents from speeding cars on our street already. • We have an active community with seniors, kids, bikers, pedestrians, and dog walkers all currently in the street and increasing the risk of a serious accident.

We've seen the tragic results when wolf management is turned over to states. States beholden to special interests are eager to let wolves be hunted, trapped and poisoned with the same kind of violence that nearly drove them extinct more than a century ago. In the one-third of Washington where wolves lost federal protections back in 2011, the state has wiped out entire packs. Idaho has for years expanded its hunting season for wolves and Wyoming even allows people to chase wolves to exhaustion with snowmobiles, then run them over. Wisconsin has laws requiring trophy hunts of wolves just as soon as wolves are stripped of federal protections. These are just a few examples of what could happen nationwide to wolves if federal protections are stripped and management is turned over to states. America needs wolves. They are a vital keystone species and their loss can have devastating effects on ecosystems and other species. Removing Endangered Species Act protection is the opposite of what's needed: stronger protections and science-based wolf management plans. We demand you immediately stop plans to strip Endangered Species Action protection from nearly every gray wolf in the lower 48.

The Washington Post reports that Pentagon has funneled almost $700 million of COVID-19 relief funds intended to build up *medical equipment supplies* to massive defense contractors for things like jet engine parts and body armor.  This is corruption, pure and simple — and all of us ARE already paying the price of the Pentagon’s waste. These funds could’ve shored up the severe shortage of N95 masks at numerous U.S. hospitals. Or supported desperately needed vaccine distribution infrastructure. Instead, they were funneled to defense contractors and spent on things like jet engine parts and body armor. There is only one solution: the Pentagon needs to pay this money back. Urge your member of Congress to demand that the Pentagon pay back the nearly billion dollars in COVID funding it misspent.

DPI must be instilled within DEI project plans to offer a sustainable approach to retaining diverse ANISHINAABEK, Native American, First Nations, Black Native, Pacific Island, Mesoamerican, South American, Caribbean Indigenous and global Indigenous students and their epistemologies. DPI at The University will give way to mass decolonization of academia throughout Turtle Island. Decolonization must BEGIN with Michigan! THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TREATY OF FORT MEIGS ON BEHALF OF DIVERSE ANISHINAABEK AND GLOBAL INDIGENOUS ONTOLOGIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION. Times up Michigan, your Treaty obligation is overdue. We DEMAND decolonial pedagogy.

If the candidates are under oath during the presidential debates, voters could be better assured of the veracity of the claims. It would also provide legal recourse if either candidate lied to the American people during such an important national forum.

It is important to be transparent with the residents of the Seasons about what their hard-earned income pays for each month. While many amenities are completely shut down and others have limited hours with reservations, the cost of rent remains the same. THE RENT IS TOO HIGH!

After the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, Senator Mitch McConnell stated, "Of course, the American people should have a say in the court's direction. It is a president's constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court justice, and it is the Senate's constitutional right to act as a check on the president and withhold its consent." He held the seat vacant for over 321 days (between the date President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the day President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch). It is only right that he respect the American people's choice in the court's direction. Senator McConnell must keep Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat open until after Inauguration Day 2021.

The r-word (r*tard) is a highly offensive term to the disability community. It is a derogatory, exclusive, hateful and outdated slur to refer to people with intellectual disabilities. Time and time again activists with intellectual disabilities have spoken up about how hurtful this word is to them and the impact is has had on their lives. It also offends anyone who knows or loves someone with a disability. This word perpetuates negative stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities and is dehumanizing. It is time for instagram to make a change and include this word as a violation of community guidelines under hate speech as this is exactly what it is.

President Trump’s recently publicized comments that he “saved” known authoritarian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) of Saudi Arabia from accountability in the wake of Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder are utterly unacceptable. We cannot let Trump allow MbS to act with impunity, nor can we allow an erosion of the checks and balances in our own system of government. Congress has got to stop the Trump administration’s blank check for authoritarians and despots. By halting weapon sales to Saudi Arabia, we, through Congress, can hold MbS accountable — breaking this corrupt relationship apart and removing the firepower he needs to wage war. Sign the petition urging Congress to immediately halt ALL weapon sales to Saudi Arabia.

On September 11th, Amazon appointed General Keith Alexander to their board of directors. Gen. Alexander headed up the NSA when they secretly built a massive domestic surveillance system, the same system to which we were alerted by Edward Snowden, who risked his life to bring this operation to light. General Alexander headed up U.S. Cyber Command along with the NSA during the Obama Administration. Alexander retired in 2014 and went on to found the private cybersecurity firm IronNet. Last week the US Court of Appeals ruled the NSA surveillance program built under the directorship of General Alexander was unlawful .
