• Iron Women NEED to ROW
Currently at the Regional and National United States Lifesaving Association' competitions, the men's American Ironman event consists of a swim, paddle, row, and run, but the women's American Ironwoman event only consists of a swim, paddle, and run. The row event should be added to the women's race, so that the women's event is the same as the men's. Female lifeguards put their life on the line every day and do the same job as the men on the beach. They too should have the opportunity to compete in the full event to show their strength, power and knowledge as well of the surf boat category. This would also benefit United States Lifesaving Association for publicity not only to recognize Ocean Lifeguarding , but also USLA’s name. Meanwhile supporting women's equality and breaking the barrier and reasoning behind not adding singles row for women to American iron women . * In June 2015 the South East Regional level has adopted these changes for regional only. Other regions and National level, women are still being denied the right to row.

  • Tell Fox News: Fire Kimberly Guilfoyle for telling young women they shouldn't vote
Kimberly Guilfoyle, co-host of the Fox News show 'The Five', recently suggested that young women shouldn't vote in the upcoming midterm elections. According to Guilfoyle, young women lack the life experience necessary to cast a ballot. Instead, she says "They can go back on Tinder or Match.com." Women have had the right to vote for less than a century in this country, and now Guilfoyle is discouraging women from exercising that right. Your vote is your voice in our democracy. It is the way we all express our opinions on various issues that affect our lives. Does Kimberly Guilfoyle believe that young women are un-affected by issues like workplace benefits such as paid family and medical leave, decent wages, access to affordable, quality health care, and more? Or does she just not think young women deserve to be part of our democracy? Everyone, young women included, has the right to vote on November 4th and no one should ever be told they don't matter in our democratic process. Fox News has frequently missed the mark, but they should be especially ashamed to employ someone who wants to disenfranchise young women. Sign now and call on Fox News to fire Guilfoyle.

  • A Proper Sentence for Oscar Pistorius!
Oscar Pistorius has a history of obsession with guns and domestic violence "incidents" as documented by his former girlfriend Samantha Taylor and police spokeswoman Brigadier Denise Beukes. Today, NPR reported that: "Correctional services officer Joel Maringa says the sentence Oscar Pistorius should receive would be three years of house arrest with strict monitoring — no guns, no drugs, no alcohol — and the attendance of support programs, along with 16 hours of community service a month, likely cleaning a local museum or hospital, to compensate society 'for the wrong he has done.'" This, for the life of an innocent woman?! UNACCEPTABLE! In the United States three women PER DAY are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Each MINUTE, 24 people endure domestic violence. In fact, the presence of a firearm in a domestic violence situation increased the risk of homicide by 500 percent! Tell Hon. Thokozile Masipa that she needs to send Pistorius and the rest of the world a message - WE WILL NOT STAND FOR IT ANY LONGER! Honor the legacy of the beautiful Reeva Steenkamp and the other angels whose lives were cut short by domestic violence. Add your name now!

  • Demand equal pay for equal work
At Make It Work, we believe women should be treated as equals in the workplace -- and that it’s about time our representatives recognized that, too. Too often, women get paid less for equal work. That's insane, it's 2014! Equal pay is fair, and long overdue. It's not just the right thing to do -- it's good for the economy. Election Day is right around the corner. There’s no better time to send a message to candidates that if they want our votes, they need to show they’ll fight to make this country a fairer place to live and work for ALL of us. Equal pay policies not only support women in the workplace, they ensure that everyone, no matter their gender, can work to support themselves and their families at home. We won’t wait another two years to be heard. Together, we can change the conversation, but we need as many voices as possible to join in. Add your name to demand the equal pay for equal work.

  • Randy Ross: Issue a public apology for your sexist remarks, and hold a public event in support o...
“Well, you know, the reality is, the most of the time Tiffany Moore Russell was in office, she was having babies,” Ross charged. “You want to get to the real point? I mean, she hasn’t really been that engaged.” – Randy Ross, 10/5/14 Help us hold Randy Ross accountable for his words. Let’s demand Randy Ross publicly apologize and admit to the hardships women face when running and serving in office. Research shows that women are 50% less likely than men to seriously consider running for office, and sexist remarks are one of the many reasons why women decide not to run. With the disproportionately low numbers of women in office, we must come together as a community and speak out against blatant sexism. Let’s make sure Randy Ross understands the obstacles women like Tiffany Moore Russell face when running for office. He must be held accountable for his sexist remarks. Join us in demanding a public apology from Randy Ross. We want to be sure he truly understands the hardships women face when running and serving in office. We don’t just want an apology from Randy; that doesn’t solve the problem. What we need from Randy is a true understanding of what Tiffany Moore Russell and other women are going through. We want Randy to hold a public event explaining what women have to go through and why they should get paid leave; why we need Congress to pass the family act now! It’s hard enough to get qualified women to believe they are qualified and run for office without sexist remarks or fear of sexism scaring them off. We need to teach Randy and Central Florida a lesson; that you can’t just say anything and get away with it scot-free. We will hold you accountable for your words. Help us hold Randy accountable and demand that he hold an event on paid family leave.

  • Tell the TRUTH, Cory Gardner
As a woman, I find Cory Gardner's positions on women's health offensive and threatening. For 8 straight years, he co-sponsored the extreme anti-choice effort to designate a fertilized egg as a human being. Now, he's flip-flopped his position as he postures to pursue his political ambition to move from Congress to the Senate. To paraphrase Ann Richards, "A woman who votes for Cory Gardner is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders."

  • Remove Judge Mark Fuller From the Bench
The influence and authority which a judge wields over a person's life is far more significant than that of an entertainer or athlete. To that end, our elected representatives must ensure that members of the judiciary, whom they appoint, exemplify and are held to high standards. When they do not, the legislative branch, as the employer, must take corrective measures to terminate that person.

  • Tell GoFundMe that Women Who Seek Abortion Care Aren't Just Like Terrorist and Criminals
GoFundMe is a popular online fundraising site where you can raise money for personal projects or issues you care about. Lots of people use it to help pay for expensive medical emergencies. But GoFundMe just announced a new policy that restricts people from raising money to help pay for an abortion. You know what else GoFundMe restricts raising money for? Terrorism, violence, and drugs. That's right, they consider abortion in the same category as terrorism and violence. Abortion is standard medical care that one in three women needs. They don’t need stigma, shame, or judgment. Sign the petition to tell GoFundMe to take abortion off its list of banned content.

  • Tell the Pennsylvania Legislature to Stop Throwing Women in Jail for Abortion
Jennifer Whalen is a single mom in very difficult circumstances. She was just sentenced to 18 months in prison for trying to help her daughter get safe, legal abortion care! A round trip to the nearest in-state clinic was over 150 miles, and Pennsylvania has a mandatory waiting period which would have meant making the trip twice in as many days or staying overnight. As a full-time nursing home aide, that would’ve been very difficult. On top of all this, her daughter doesn’t have health insurance to cover the cost of abortion service at a doctor's office or hospital. Whether or not we think what the mother did was right, we can all agree that the real offenders here are the politicians who’ve put abortion out of reach for so many women. We need to bring state politicians face to face with the consequences of their actions and hold them accountable. Join us now to tell the Pennsylvania legislature to stop throwing women in jail and focus on making sure we can exercise our constitutional rights.

  • Women's health rights
This is extremely important because these politicians are trying to take away women's rights to affordable birth control care. As human beings we should have the right to make our own health care decisions without interference of our bosses. What business is it of theirs if I want to be on birth control? Women should be allowed to make decisions for her own body just as men are able to. How are we being treated equally if we can't have a simple birth control pill covered by our work that might I add also produces other health benefits, yet vasectomies are still being covered for men. The answer is that we are in fact not being treated equally whatsoever. It's time to take a stand against these politicians who seem to think they can control the decisions of our own body's. I started this petition because I am a woman as well and I want to be treated equally. By signing this petition you can not only help yourself to receive equal health care coverage but, you can also help spread the word and help other women to receive equal health care coverage.

  • Tell Congress: Violent partners and stalkers should not have guns
There is a direct connection between gun violence and domestic violence: When a domestic abuser has a gun, a victim is 12 times more likely to die than when he doesn’t. One in four American women experiences physical violence from an intimate partner, and every month 46 women are killed by an intimate partner with a gun. We need to tell Congress that too many women are dying. Over twenty years ago Congress passed the landmark Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). We’ve made progress, but we need Congress to step up and plug the loopholes to protect all women now. Congress already expanded VAWA to make it a crime for those convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor to buy or possess a gun. Now we need to expand protection to include women in dating relationships, and to prevent stalkers from owning guns. States United to Prevent Gun Violence and the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus are partnering to deliver the message to Congress: "Step up and protect all women NOW by preventing stalkers and violent dating partners from buying and possessing guns".
