  • Hold Prospective and Existing Police Officers to Higher Standards
We have seen too many people in the U.S. die at the hands of unqualified and ill-equipped police officers who are meant to serve and protect the people, not disrespect and murder them. We need a change, and the beginning to this should be steeper qualifications.

  • Urge SF Mayor to fully fund Deportation Defense
In detention, immigrants are often subjected to harsh conditions of confinement and denied access to phone calls, family contact. They are not provided legal counsel if they cannot afford it. They might not know they have legal pathways to stay in the country (such as seeking asylum), and often waive their rights without understanding what is happening. Immigration law is incredibly complex. Immigrants with legal counsel are 5-7 times more likely to be able to legally remain with their families. Every person deserves legal representation when the stakes are so high. Immigrants in detention include people who have been in the US for years as hard working members of the economy, as well as asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups including children, pregnant women, and individuals who are seriously ill.

  • President Trump: You Wanted to Protect the Planet
Federal government websites no longer have data or information on climate change. The president has proposed slashing the EPA, and has already overturned regulations to protect the planet. But TRUMP AGREED just over 7 years ago that the U.S. needed to control climate change - yes, TRUMP signed a letter ACKNOWLEDGING that CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL AND IS HAPPENING NOW. Hold him accountable!

  • 1960's Assassinations
The American people need a definitive answer to exactly who was behind the John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and the Martin Luther King assassinations. These issues have affected our politics for years now and we need truth.

  • Do NOT Cut EPA Funding!
The Environmental Protection Agency was created to enforce critical laws that protect people and the safety of our water and air. Hindering the EPA’s ability to do this work would only line the pockets of big corporations while destroying our environment and making American families sick. That's outrageous – and it's completely unacceptable. We need Congress to stand up for us and fiercely reject any and all attempts to cut funding for the Environmental Protection Agency. We need a strong EPA to keep polluters in check and protect our health.

  • Tell FedEx: Stop Supporting the NRA!
FedEx is a member of the National Rifle Association's Business Alliance. As a member of the alliance, it grants discounts of up to 26 percent for NRA members, a generous perk that encourages people to join the NRA and adopt its gun culture, building the organization's power. In 2016, FedEx was #58 on the Fortune 500 list of companies, with revenues exceeding $50 billion. As an economic powerhouse, and as an iconic American brand, it needs to send a message to the gun lobby and reassure the communities it serves that it does not condone the NRA's extremist agenda by cutting its NRA ties. The National Rifle Association accepts millions of dollars from gun manufacturers every year to advance an extremist pro-gun agenda, while presenting itself as a grassroots organization for gun owners, which FedEx helps to support by being part of the NRA Business Alliance and offering members discounts. The NRA right now is working to eliminate gun-free zones at schools and houses of worship, gutting criminal background checks for gun sales, and getting rid of all permitting requirements for people who want to conceal-carry their weapons, among other things. FedEx should not have any part in building the NRA's membership and advancing its lethal agenda.

  • @Bolivia_ONU, @RussiaUN: Demand @UN Security Council Save Yemeni Children From Starvation
"Hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children languishing in refugee camps and remote villages are nearing starvation," the Washington Post reports. Airstrikes near the port of Hodeida - main entry point for food, medicine and humanitarian aid into northern Yemen - have slowed the delivery of supplies. Half a million children are severely acutely malnourished. The UN says Yemen is “on the brink of famine.” U.S.-backed Saudi airstrikes have destroyed roads and bridges across Hodeida province. Unexploded rockets have landed inside the port, further reducing imports and the number of ships willing to come to Yemen. The Saudis are enforcing a blockade that is restricting food imports, and have told humanitarian agencies to redirect shipments to Aden. That would mean vital food and medicine would need to be trucked from Aden through war zones to reach the millions at risk of starvation in the north. [1] To save hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children from starvation, someone must stop the U.S.-backed Saudi attacks on Hodeida. Sadly, so far Washington has turned a deaf ear to the cries of Yemeni children. But any member of the UN Security Council can demand a meeting to discuss action to save Yemeni children from starvation. Of the fifteen current members of the Security Council, [2] Bolivia and Russia are the most independent of the U.S.-Saudi alliance that is pushing Yemen into famine. A vigorous Security Council debate would put pressure on the U.S. to stop supporting the Saudi assault on Hodeida. Urge Bolivia and Russia to demand action by the UN Security Council to save hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children from starvation by signing our petition. • Create a Highway 17 Express Bus Route From Santa Cruz County to Los Gatos
50,000 people commute each day over Highway 17. With the recent storms and road damage, it's more clear than ever we need options to help get people to and from work other than cars. Right now Highway 17 Express only stops at Diridon Station (Caltrain Depot) and San Fernando & 5th outside of Santa Cruz County. This forces anyone working in Los Gatos to drive their own cars to work, not only clogging up the highway, but city streets and parking. Please sign this petition to let the Board of Directors at SCMTD know a stop in Los Gatos or two (Summit could be an additional stop to transport all of the mountain residents into LG and beyond) would not only be profitable, but it would be heavily used and the environmentally responsible decision for Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.

  • Transparent schedules for members of Congress
In the past year, I have tried to engage with all three of my US Congressmen and have in all three cases been told blatant lies by their staff - that by signing up for their newsletter, I will get an e-mail notification of any public events they hold. This never, never happens. The only event postings I have seen are created by constituents to organize groups to attend town halls, and after-the-fact pictures on their FB feeds. They and their staff are colluding to make it needlessly difficult for the public to engage with them, and this needs to stop. It is undemocratic, un-American, and serves neither the interests of their supporters or their opponents.

  • Florida Care
The repealing of the Affordable Care Act is going to effect the coverage of millions of Floridians. The healthcare of Florida residents should be a priority and all residents should be afforded the same coverage by all insurance companies that provide health insurance to Florida residents. Floridians need health insurance that provides free preventative care and chronic disease management, coverage of preexisting conditions, free contraceptive and birth control, elimination of lifetime and annual coverage limits, coverage until age 26 under a parent policy, and lower cost of life depending medications.
