We need to get corporate money out of politics. Let's put our Senators and Congresspeople on notice: It might be legal, but you will not be re-elected if you take money from corporate interests.

The connection between Russia and Trump must be investigated thoroughly and in an independent fashion. Hearings should be made public so the American people can fully engage with the issue and understand for ourselves - not filtered through a political lens. This issue goes to the heart of our democracy. The interests of the country need to be put above the interests of politicians. Deadline: this week of 2/15/17 because the GOP is trying to keep the investigation behind closed doors and a decision will be made soon. A large number of signatures will hopefully encourage them to act otherwise.

Our country is approaching the brink of another cold war standoff with Russia. In under 24 hours, Donald Trump's National Security Advisor resigned, reports that multiple campaign aides had constant contact with Russian intelligence officials became public, and a Russian spy vessel was seen off the coast of Delaware. Jason Chaffetz needs to pull his head out of the sand, put members of the executive under oath, subpoena records, and call a full investigation into the full extent of this compromised administration.

I am starting this petition as an honest attempt to change the tone of exchanges when we (the constituents) visit our local representatives. Bullying tactics by elected officials and their staff are NOT acceptable. Many of us are working hard for positive change for our local and federal government. We are engaged in this process and are passionate about the various issues now facing us locally and nationally. We simply want to be heard, ask questions and understand where our representative stands on various issues. We should not have to FIGHT and put up with bullying tactics in order to be heard…especially when we are visiting them in our free time and during our lunch breaks! Bullying tactics are not conducive to listening to constituents. Let's change the tone and how we treat one another otherwise how will we ever have a productive conversation?

Numerous reports and studies have shown the negative human and legal impacts of implementing 287(g). Investigation has revealed that the program has led to widespread racial profiling as police officers target immigrants and people of color for stops, searches, and interrogations. The program has also led to distrust between immigrant communities and law enforcement, making it harder for local police to do their jobs. This program is not mandatory: only 34 law enforcement agencies in the entire country have 287(g) agreements deputizing their officers to act as immigration agents, and only 2 in New Jersey. The Maricopa County, AZ program, run by Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, was the largest 287(g) jurisdiction, until it was terminated following a federal investigation into racial profiling and discrimination. The principal mission of law enforcement officers in this State is to enforce the criminal laws and to protect the communities that they serve. It is not to enforce federal immigration laws. Effective policing requires the cooperation of, and a positive relationship with, all members of the community. Cape May County is home to many immigrants and this program hurts the trust from immigrant community members. We respectfully request that the Cape May County Sheriff and Freeholders discontinue the agreement with ICE.

I am deeply concerned that your voting record is 100% aligned with the Trump agenda and that you are putting party over constituents. I am concerned with your focus on deregulation of financial and environmental issues. I'm horrified at the attack on women's healthcare by voting to defund Planned Parenthood. I'm terrified at the dismantling of the ACA and the number of people who will be left without health coverage.

U.S. District Judge John Z. Lee ruled against the use of detainers. It violates an anti-commandeering statute in the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Donald Trump wants to increase the power of law enforcement in Black communities, like Chicago, but wants to kill the institution that hold police accountable to the law itself. We can not bend and bow to Trumps terror tactics and threats. For the past 60 years the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice has protected the rights of all Americans--including voting rights, the rights of Black folks and other people of color, women, people with disabilities, and religious minorities. And now, Donald Trump wants to eliminate all of that. Stop him now!

Disney CEO Bob Iger serves on Donald Trump’s economic advisory council. While we forced Uber CEO Travis Kalanick to step down last week, Iger refuses to leave the council.[1] In a statement on February 7, Iger said the board is a “great opportunity” that gives him a “pipeline” to speak with Trump.[2] But here’s the thing. There’s no negotiating with an administration that is attacking immigrants, handing government over to Wall Street, and planning to take healthcare away from millions. Tens of thousands of People’s Action and MoveOn members – together with hundreds of thousands of Uber users and workers – forced Uber CEO Travis Kalanick to resign from Trump’s council. We can do it again. We will not let corporate collaborators off the hook.
