• A VOICE FOR THOSE WITH NO CHOICE
SIGN this petition to ask city council of Yakima Washington to protect the people that are vulnerable and that are not able to have a voice or a choice. Lets protect our undocumented families from being profiled by law enforcement/police officers and prevent them from asking people about their legal status. Some of these families have children that are US citizens and we need your signatures to protect them from being separated! By signing this petition you understand that you are asking the city council to approve a sanctuary city/welcoming city that will be discussed upon February7, 2017 at 6:00pm and other city council meetings. Signatures will continue to be collected until there is a resolution to this matter. You are also welcomed to join us at the city council to voice your opinions. Remember that any of us can be asked to verify of our legal status by judging us by the way we look. #NoTargeting #ProtectFamilies #YesSanctuaryCity .

  • End Prohibition on Consensual Sex-work
Rather than helping stop trafficking, prohibition has caused a proliferation of sex workers forced to hide their activities behind other services offered. This has made it less safe for bodyworkers, massage therapists, photography models, and workers in other similar fields. This issue disproportionately effects members of the LGBTQ community and women. As a model, I have had some very frightening experiences wherein the photographer tried to take more than just pictures - and now I am afraid to seek a type of work in which I am educated and that I love. It is high time the prohibition ended so that those offering sex work and those seeking it can clearly and cleanly negotiate such expectations consensually. Governor Kate Brown, please stand up for marginalized workers; and help real trafficking victims feel safe enough to come forward by introducing appropriate legislation replacing ORS 167.002-012.

  • @POTUS: Designating Muslim Brotherhood as Terrorist Would Hurt America
The New York Times reports that an executive order is under discussion at the White House which would designate the Muslim Brotherhood, a mostly nonviolent Islamist political movement in the Middle East, as a terrorist organization. [1] Such a move would hamstring U.S. diplomats, who wouldn't be allowed to talk to the Brotherhood. Among Islamist groups in the Middle East, the Brotherhood has been relatively moderate in recent decades, a key reason the U.S. has maintained communication with them under longstanding bipartisan U.S. policy. Like the Smith Act during the McCarthy period, banning the Brotherhood would criminalize a political belief, regardless of behavior. It would unnecessarily classify a huge group of people as enemies of the U.S., though they had no dispute with the U.S. in the past. It would be spectacularly hypocritical, since the U.S., especially the CIA, maintains cozy relations with Saudi Arabia, whose government promotes and enforces, including with violence, a far more rigid and extreme form of Islam than most Brotherhood groups espouse. Such an overbroad designation would allow the executive branch to opportunistically and unaccountably target Islamists not based on whether they threaten the United States, but based on whether they support the imperial agendas of Saudi Arabia and the CIA. The ACLU says the move would "target and stigmatize American Muslims" and would "open the door to using overbroad and unfair laws" that "sweep up innocent individuals and organizations and lack due process safeguards ... it could have a tremendous effect on freedom of speech." [2] Urge President Trump and Members of Congress to oppose designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization by signing our petition. References: 1. • Run Bernie Run
I need say very little. Bernie Sanders is the only trusted politician to run as the opposition candidate to Trump in 2020. The health of our Republic is in crisis and there is no one else who can unite the progressives, independents, liberals, and fallen Republicans like Bernie can. We need him to save the United States of America from total collapse.

  • David Carlucci: Leave the IDC and Renounce the Party of Trump
Since 2011, NY State Senator David Carlucci, representing, Orangetown, Clarkstown, Ossining and Ramapo, has been a member of the IDC, renegade Senate Democrats who have formed a coalition with the GOP in the State Senate. This allows Republicans to maintain majority control of the chamber, letting them block or water down progressive legislation. Senate Republicans have blocked the following legislation from passing in New York: Women’s Equality Act to codify Roe v. Wade in New York law GENDA to protect LGBT New Yorkers from discrimination Voting Reform including early voting and automatic voter registration Criminal Justice Reform including “Raise the Age" Campaign Finance Reform and Ethics Reform to clean up Albany corruption Single payer health insurance bill Tenant protections to keep housing affordable DREAM Act providing tuition assistance to children of undocumented immigrants. As voters in his district, we are demanding that David Carlucci immediately return to the Democratic Caucus .

  • City Council: Rewrite Red Tag Laws.
2/9/17 Update: Red Tag Laws are meant to protect the Tucson community, but they are being used to target University of Arizona & Pima Community College students. The only requirements to receive a Red Tag are 5+ people on the property and a noise complaint. However, the "unruly" noise level is up to the TPD's discretion and seems to be exempt from due process. In addition, students splitting rent by having roommates may have close to five people living in one house, and can receive a Red Tag by having a friend over (houses with 5 or more occupants can receive a Red Tag at any time). Many students, some who are already saving money by having these roommates, cannot afford to contest the Red Tag and have no choice but to accept the $500 fine. The city of Tucson needs to implement regulations, such as creating a minimum noise level or raising the 5+ person limit, that restrict the issuance of Red Tags only to situations that deserve them. Sign the petition and spread the word to help prevent future students from paying enormous fines unfairly targeted for them. EXTRA INFO: - Here's a map of all the Red Tags issued during the 2015-16 school year. Nearly all of them were issued within a few blocks from the University. http://www.wildcat.arizona.edu/article/2016/09/wheres-the-party-at-just-follow-the-red-tags - Every UofA student who receives a Red Tag is reported to the Dean of Students' to potentially receive further consequences. For more info, read the Dean of Students' Red Tag FAQ: https://deanofstudents.arizona.edu/red-tag-faqs 2/4/17 Original Post: After seeing TPD issue a red tag for playing music while painting a bench with four other people at a residency I realized this law has gone too far. We had to pay for an attorney to fight for our case (we won) but this still came at a substantial cost. No student should be forced to pay enormous costs to fight an unjust law that targets students.
