• City Council: Rewrite Red Tag Laws.
2/9/17 Update: Red Tag Laws are meant to protect the Tucson community, but they are being used to target University of Arizona & Pima Community College students. The only requirements to receive a Red Tag are 5+ people on the property and a noise complaint. However, the "unruly" noise level is up to the TPD's discretion and seems to be exempt from due process. In addition, students splitting rent by having roommates may have close to five people living in one house, and can receive a Red Tag by having a friend over (houses with 5 or more occupants can receive a Red Tag at any time). Many students, some who are already saving money by having these roommates, cannot afford to contest the Red Tag and have no choice but to accept the $500 fine. The city of Tucson needs to implement regulations, such as creating a minimum noise level or raising the 5+ person limit, that restrict the issuance of Red Tags only to situations that deserve them. Sign the petition and spread the word to help prevent future students from paying enormous fines unfairly targeted for them. EXTRA INFO: - Here's a map of all the Red Tags issued during the 2015-16 school year. Nearly all of them were issued within a few blocks from the University. http://www.wildcat.arizona.edu/article/2016/09/wheres-the-party-at-just-follow-the-red-tags - Every UofA student who receives a Red Tag is reported to the Dean of Students' to potentially receive further consequences. For more info, read the Dean of Students' Red Tag FAQ: https://deanofstudents.arizona.edu/red-tag-faqs 2/4/17 Original Post: After seeing TPD issue a red tag for playing music while painting a bench with four other people at a residency I realized this law has gone too far. We had to pay for an attorney to fight for our case (we won) but this still came at a substantial cost. No student should be forced to pay enormous costs to fight an unjust law that targets students. • Ask Expedia to Dump Trump Hotels
#DeleteUber was just a start. We control the vast majority of the consumer economy--which is the last and final check and balance on power in the country. Let's put companies on notice, profiting from political neutrality will no longer be an option.

  • Stop Florida SB 188
This Florida Senate Bill, SB 188, would strip local governments throughout the State of Florida of self governing vacation rentals. This would devastate small communities due to " investor homes" that seek to have unregulated number of people, and allow for short term rentals for any length of stay in existing residential neighborhoods.

  • Vote No on Andrew Puzder for Labor Secretary
Puzder would be a disaster for American workers. I am a former W2 employee now working 2-4 part-time consulting jobs and trying to raise 2 daughters. This means I have no job security, worker's comp, paid sick leave, vacation pay, health insurance benefits, retirement, and am not eligible for unemployment. Puzder would cut the safety net for workers even further.

  • Plea For Allies For Us
Almost every single goal of the Trump administration is a direct attack on an already marginalized group of people, or the planet itself. That was most of his platform. He is making good on his promises, and many of his own supporters are turning against him. He and the billionaires he has installed can and will harm and kill innumerable human beings over time through these sociopathically irresponsible actions. They are waging war against us for their own benefit. We, the American people, are diverse and united. We do not subscribe to his rhetoric, and we do not intend to cooperate with his policies. We are strong, and will protect the most vulnerable among us. That does not mean we do not need allies. We will ask that other nations keep an eye on our leaders, and do what they can to curb their callousness. We will ask that they use rational, peaceful means against this machine of social and environmental destruction.

  • Nicholas County Consolidation Efforts
We want our legislators and government officials to know that we do not support the efforts of some of the citizens of Nicholas County to keep the schools in Richwood. We support the BOE and the Superintendent and understand the challenges we face as a County. We want what's best for all of the students and their future. Nicholas County High School and Richwood High School are excellent schools, if the decision is made to consolidate we will still have a legacy of excellence. Please do not let the voices of a few based on emotion overshadow what's best for our County, students and future.

  • Senator Toomey: hold open and accessible weekend town halls
Senator Toomey's offices around Pennsylvania and in DC have been sending calls directly to voicemail, or are just busy. He is supposed to work for his constituents, yet we are unable to share our concerns. Senator Toomey should hold multiple open and accessible town halls in the coming weeks and months for all his constituents so that he can hear directly from Pennsylvanians who are personally affected by how he votes in the Senate.
