The CIA documented Russian interference in our election and Trump's deep unaddressed conflicts of interest throw the legitimacy of our election and the qualification of our future POTUS into question for every American! We must address this before the Electoral College vote is approved by Congress and Vice-President Biden on January 5, 2017.

Donald Trump has promised to strengthen Social Security. However, Rep. Sam Johnson (Rep-Texas) is proposing changes that decrease taxpayer benefits. Reject Mr. Johnson's plan and allow Donald Trump to keep his promise.

Donald Trump does not have a mandate to enact an extremist agenda aimed at destroying some of our most critical government programs and institutions, including healthcare, public schools, and civil rights. Taken together, President-Elect Trump’s appointment choices to date present a significant threat to our democracy, to the people of our country, and to our economy. The short list includes: REPRESENTATIVE TOM PRICE, nominated for Secretary of Health and Human Services, who has made dismantling the Affordable Care Act a landmark goal of his political career; BETSY DEVOS, a leading proponent of schools vouchers, who, as Education Secretary, would be in a position to chip away at one of the most fundamental cornerstones of civil society: public education; SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS, nominated for U.S. Attorney General, who has record of racist rhetoric and was previously rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee over his embrace of policies that would undermine basic civil rights; ANDY PUZDER, nominated for Labor Secretary, who has consistently prioritized corporate profits over the local economy and welfare of workers; STEVE BANNON, selected to be incoming chief White House strategist, who is a propagandist for white supremacy, and would bring sexism, anti-semitism, homophobia, racism and transphobia with him to the Oval Office. Selecting cabinet leaders who have a history of being anti-healthcare, anti-public school, anti-civil rights, anti-worker, and pro-white supremacy is not the America that the majority of Americans voted for. Remind Senate leaders that Donald Trump does not have a mandate, and tell them to stop his appointments now!

We the people, feel that Rex Tillerson is too closely aligned with Russia for the position of Secretary of State. Our country and allies need someone who understands the complexity of the Middle East and Europe without conflicts of interests. In balancing the administration, we need some experienced candidates representing our country without potential conflicts of interest that will hinder the US agenda and our standing in the world.

We thank Attorney General Schneiderman for taking leadership in reforming New York's election laws. The last election cycle highlighted many problems with them that made it more difficult or impossible for some people to vote. It is critical that Donald Trump's presidency not be confirmed by the Electoral College until there has been further investigation into Russia's alleged role in the 2016 election and the results of that investigation have been made public. Only at the country's peril can the findings of its intelligence community be so easily set aside. Likewise, the connection of several key Trump advisers and supporters of Vladimir Putin and other powerful Russians, cannot be reasonably dismissed as coincidence. This includes the newly nominated Secretary of State and current head of Exxon/Mobil, a recipient of Putin's special "Friendship" award. The possible risks to the world of the Electoral College voting without more information, are too great.

There may be inappropriate ties that would greatly compromise American and global welfare in the event of a Trump presidency. This compromise would affect the US in particular, the world in general. If inappropriate ties are proven, Trump must not be inaugurated as President of the United States.

Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) recently investigated a large pig breeding farm in North America and discovered horrifying conditions. The investigators found dozens of dead and rotting piglets. Each of the mother pigs was confined to a crate so small she could not turn around or move her head. At pig breeding facilities, piglets are taken away from their mothers at just 17 days, well before they are weaned. Many become sick and injured and die slow, painful deaths. In the course of the investigation, DxE rescued a young piglet and named her Madison. Sign the petition and ask Costco to cut ties with all animal-abusing companies.

Most states have adopted winner-take-all rules for their EC delegates. In recent days some have initiated draconian penalties for those who violate those rules. So far, a number of Democratic delegates have announced their willingness to back a reasonable Republican candidate if a sufficient number of Republicans can join them. Most who do so, from both parties, will place themselves at legal risk. We ask ACLU to pledge its assistance to this cross-party effort.

I am starting this petition because I think it has some chance of creating a climate for bipartisan discussion and a way for the situation in which the country finds itself to be resolved so that all are served.

Our children attend elementary NVUSD schools and, since the adoption of the new report cards, we have had extreme difficulty discerning how our kids are doing in class. Specifically, the report card offers us little understanding of what portion of the year’s materials have been taught in that trimester, what the class average is or what level of success is possible. The information we are looking for is the following: What are my child’s strengths? What does she/he need to improve on? Does my child show particular aptitude or ability in any particular area? How is she/he doing overall? Specifically we are objecting to the lack of progress reporting for current trimester and the lack of comments for clarification of the grades. The standards are too rolled up to explain specific information about the student so comments are needed. 1) Measurement against year-end goals is discouraging. Young students benefit from measuring progress toward short-term goals; it is unrealistic to expect any elementary-aged child to take the long view. 2)Measurement against year-end goals is too vague to be helpful. The view from year-end perspective doesn’t capture the bursts of learning or difficulty that occur on a week-to-week basis...everything just evens out to “approaching proficiency”, which doesn’t really tell parents or students anything useful. 3)The lack of comments puts the onus on parents to pursue clarification from teachers on what to work on, or to get more specific feedback. Some parents are better at this than others. When teachers added comments, reluctant parents didn’t have to overcome obstacles such as shyness, hesitation over language fluency, busy schedules, access to technology, unfamiliarity with school structures and procedures, or other impediments. 4) It is better for students and their learning outcomes if parents are provided these comments without having to ask for them. Our multiple emails and discussion with the administration have not resulted in any action thus far. Through many conversations with fellow parents we have realized that we are not alone and hope the district and school board will listen to the voices of many concerned and frustrated parents. All of our experiences with teachers and school-site administrators have remained extremely positive.

Our intelligence agencies are certain that Russia interfered in our elections. They say there is STRONG evidence to suggest that - the goal was to hurt Clinton and help Trump win. The Russians want an end to economic sanctions and it appears that Trump will be much more sympathetic to them in this matter. This nefarious meddling in our elections represents an existential threat to the foundations of our democracy. Senators Schumer, Reed, Graham and McCain are calling for a comprehensive, bipartisan Senate investigation - they need other senators -particularly some additional Republicans - to join with them. This petition specifically calls on Senators Collins, Rand Paul, Flake and Sasse, as well as all the other Senators to support this crucial investigation.
