• Senator Bill Cassidy: Hold a Town Hall in Southeast Louisiana
We are requesting that Senator Bill Cassidy hold a town hall meeting with his constituents in southeast Louisiana. Senator Cassidy's office phones have been going to voicemail, and in some offices the mailbox is full. Constituents deserve an opportunity to make their voices heard. Cassidy has scheduled town halls in rural northwest Louisiana. Those in the southeastern part of the state want an opportunity as well.

  • Justice for Emmett Till
Please encourage Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood to investigate Carolyn Bryant Donham and any others who may have been involved in the death of Emmett Till. While Emmett's murder occurred in 1955, it continues to impact American society today. Carolyn Bryant Donham, the named accuser of Emmett Till, recently admitted that she lied in court about what Emmett Till did on that day. This lie led to the murder of this young boy and further divided this Country. Contact AG Hood at http://www.ago.state.ms.us/contact/ or call 601-359-3680. https://newsone.com/3651562/carolyn-bryant-donham-lied-about-emmett-till/

  • Come Out of Hiding, Mike Bishop!
Mike Bishop has refused to speak to his constituents about the Affordable Care Act, but instead has hidden behind op-eds in the local newspaper and even blocked people from his Twitter account. More than 23.1 million Americans could lose their health care if the Affordable Care Act is repealed, many of them in the 8th District. Many others will be affected by the lose of other parts of the law. We deserve to be heard by our elected representative.

  • Mayor Duggan & City Council: Stand with Muslims, Immigrants, & Refugees Against Federal Attacks
The City of Detroit is home to a robust and vibrant set of communities, including diverse communities of immigrants, many of whom are asylum seekers, many of whom are Muslims, and many of whom are from the Middle-East or predominantly Muslim countries, and are thereby threatened by the increasingly aggressive and discriminatory policies of the Trump administration. As well, the City of Detroit is a self-governing political entity that owes its responsibility to its citizens, to the constitution of the State of Michigan and to the constitution of the United States. As such, the City of Detroit and its representatives are not only entitled to oppose unconstitutional and unethical actions taken at the federal and state levels, but are morally responsible to do so in the interests of the people of the Detroit. *Neither the Mayor of Detroit, Mike Duggan, or the Mayor's Chief of Staff, Alexis Wiley, make their emails or office phone numbers available to the public. As such, a petition such as this, cannot be directly or easily delivered. This petition will most easily reach City Council Pres. Hon. Brenda Jones.

  • Rep. Dan Donovan, Protect Refugees and Muslims
I care deeply about the wonderful, diverse community in Brooklyn where I live. Many hard-working immigrants live in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights, Gravesend and Staten Island, which make up Rep. Dan Donovan's district. Many of our Muslim brothers and sisters call these wonderful neighborhoods home. This ban on Muslims and refugees affects many families in our neighborhoods. Families are at risk of being torn apart. Refugees who have found a welcoming home in our neighborhoods are wondering if they will face persecution yet again. We all share an interest in keeping our neighborhoods safe and welcoming for immigrants of all religions and communities. If you live in these neighborhoods, or have family members here, you may be affected as well. Discrimination based on country of origin or religion is unconstitutional and damaging to the social and economic fabric of our cherished neighborhoods. Let's stand together in solidarity against this unconstitutional and discriminatory ban and ask Rep. Dan Donovan, who is our elected representative, to do the same.

  • Malliotakis and Castorina - DROP THE LAWSUIT AGAINST IDNYC!
Republican Assemblymembers Nicole Malliotakis (District 64, Staten Island and Brooklyn) and Rob Castorina (District 62, Staten Island) recently filed a lawsuit against the City of New York to prevent them from protecting information collected by the city as part of its municipal ID program IDNYC. The new IDs, which nearly 1 million New Yorkers have applied for, is particularly important to undocumented immigrants, seniors, the formerly incarcerated, members of the LGBTQ community, and others who lack the benefits provided by conventional identification cards including opening bank accounts, using libraries, and picking up their children from school. IDNYC had built into it a provision that the data gathered as part of the application process would be destroyed after a period in order to protect undocumented cardholders from deportation. The lawsuit brought by Malliotakis and Castorina is currently risking the exposure of nearly a million people to this anti-immigration administration by preventing the destruction of this data. The IDNYC program was designed to provide vulnerable New Yorkers with the same opportunities as all New Yorkers. It must not be used as a weapon against them. Malliotakis and Castorina were elected to serve their constituents, not the draconian policies of the Trump administration. We, the undersigned, call on Malliotakis and Castorina to immediately drop the lawsuit. Protect immigrant rights. Protect New Yorkers. Protect our neighbors.

  • Tax changes should benefit ordinary working families
This petition asks President Trump and members of Congress to keep faith with the voters who elected them when they make changes to the tax system. Congress will be considering tax changes over the next several months, perhaps in different pieces of legislation. The petition sets forth basic principles of tax fairness that should be respected, regarding who benefits from the changes. The petition makes clear what benchmark for tax fairness voters are expecting Congress to meet as it enacts tax reform or any other changes to the tax system.
