• Legalize Backyard Chickens in the city of Kellogg, Idaho
Many cities across the country and our own state have changed local laws and ordinances to allow for the raising of a small flock of hens. It is time for Kellogg, ID to join this movement. With proper education and a little research it is very easy to raise chickens in an urban setting without fear of noise, smell or disease. At the same time you can provide your family with a very healthy choice in home-grown eggs. Factory farming is failing us in many ways. This will give residents the right to provide a much more humane, and safe environment for backyard chickens. Let's join cities like Mullan, Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Bonners Ferry, Moscow, Sandpoint, Preston, McCall , and many more to put food production into the hands of city residents.

  • Ask Electoral College to Not Vote Until Russian Hacks of 2016 Election to Help Donald Trump Are F...
The CIA has "high confidence" the Russian government hacked our 2016 election to help elect Donald Trump. Any knowledge or cooperation from Trump would be an impeachable offense, resulting in a Constitutional crisis. Our Electoral College must not certify him until a full investigation is completed and made public.

Its stupid.I'm.total amendment number 2 but really even a kitchen knife will hurt someone on the outside of jail there is no point in coughing and squatting people in prison when it isn't done at the airport. I do not want to strip at the airport but the plane is consented to as the mental hospital is not.Cough and squat is pointless stop it now! I'm.sick of forced naked.I know it's over people sneaking bombs up their private parts which why with Isis only sex offenders will cough and squat.

  • Gov. Kasich: Veto all abortion bans
This week, the Ohio state legislature passed multiple bans on abortion including as early as 6 weeks. A 6-week ban would criminalize abortions earlier than most women even know they are pregnant--essentially banning all abortion in the state. Governor John Kasich could sign one of these bans any day now. Here's the good news--this abortion ban is clearly unconstitutional, and too extreme even for many conservatives--so Kasich is already feeling the pressure to veto it. No governor wants to be tied to such a blatantly unconstitutional bill--which means that if we speak out loudly now, we can convince him to veto the ban. We know more attempts to ban abortion are coming, so let's draw a line right now that we won't accept any further restrictions on women's healthcare. Next week, we're going to remind Gov. Kasich of his constitutional obligation by delivering hundreds of constitutions to his office. Add your name now and we'll include it when we deliver piles and piles of constitutions to Kasich's office. Join us today--demand that Gov Kasich veto all abortion bans.

  • Tell NBC: Dump Trump
Variety reported on December 8 that Donald Trump will remain as executive producer of The Celebrity Apprentice when the show returns in 2017. This will mean that NBC will have a fiduciary relationship with the president of the United States, creating an unprecedented conflict of interest for the network. Having Trump as an executive producer is intolerable. NBC is now financially invested in Trump's reputation. The network will have an incentive to weigh aggressively reporting about Trump against what they may lose in revenue if Trump's reputation is damaged. Further, imagine the choices they will face if NBC has a blockbuster story about Trump. This is not inconceivable. Remember, NBC is the network that had the hot mic tape of Trump bragging about sexual assault -- but it was The Washington Post, not NBC News, that broke the story. There is simply no way that citizens can trust the reporting of NBC News, CNBC, and MSNBC. Executives have put hard working reporters at these outlets in a completely untenable spot: No amount of disclosure is sufficient when the network is financially invested in the president. NBC has already demonstrated that we cannot rely on their assurances. Trump's involvement flies in the face of previous statements from the network. In a June 2015 statement, NBC said they were ending their business relationship with Trump because his attacks on immigrants violated the network's belief that "respect and dignity for all people are the cornerstones of our values." At the time, the network reported this, saying "Trump ceased his involvement with the reality show during his presidential bid." The solution is simple: NBC needs to dump Trump. As long as they have a fiduciary relationship with Trump, this is going to be an insurmountable problem.

  • CA Attorney General: Challenge the 2016 Election in the Supreme Court for Clinton Victory
NOTE: Please sign this petition below instead. It is essentially the same but has more signatures and we need to consolidate our efforts: https://www.change.org/p/california-attorney-general-kamala-harris-urge-ca-attorney-general-to-bring-a-case-to-the-us-supreme-court-for-a-clinton-victory?recruiter=437185650&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 election by more than 2.5 million votes despite Russian interference, collusion by government officials, and voter suppression. Yet she was not declared the winner due to a “winner-take-all-by-state” practice that is NOT described in the Constitution. In fact, Attorney Jerry L. Sims points out that this absurdly unfair convention could mathematically allow a candidate to win with only 22.6% of the national vote. Attorney Sims says that the “winner-take-all-by-state” practice of allocating electors is an unconstitutional violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment and argues that electors should be allocated proportionally by state vote OR winner-take-all according to the results of the national vote. Harvard Law School professor Lawrence Lessig agrees that there is substantial argument for such a case. We would argue that the former method would be preferable since it still gives less densely populated states a proportionally stronger voice, due to the weighted bias of determining numbers of electors per state, without completely silencing the voices of such a disproportionate number of voters. It also makes more practical the possibility of electors overturning the apparent outcome of a close election if they deemed it necessary. This is because fewer electors would need to vote against their party affiliation in a close election in order to discharge their duty of protecting the country in a rare situation where they would consider it necessary to prevent a candidate from taking power who is unfit, unqualified, has many potential conflicts of interest, and who has a questionable relationship with a foreign government that does not have the best interests of the country at heart. Although it could be argued that the candidates might have campaigned differently were it recognized beforehand that the “winner-take-all-by-state” practice was unconstitutional, there is also strong argument that people in “blue” states would have voted in much greater numbers had this been the case. There are also substantial grounds for a case to be brought that the election should be nullified because of the unprecedented interference in the election by a foreign government (namely Russia), Hatch Act violations and collusion by government officials, and blatant suppression of voters of color in “swing states.” This decision would result in the spirit of the Constitution being carried out in the most efficient and timely manner. On behalf of California voters, we urge Attorney General Kamala D. Harris to challenge the apparent outcome of the election in the United States Supreme Court. We ask the Supreme Court to consider the potential damage done to disenfranchised voters in this democratic country if their Constitutional right to equal protection is denied. We ask Attorney General Harris to demand that the “winner-take-all-by-state” allocation of electors be struck down as unconstitutional and that electors be allocated proportionally by state vote OR winner-take-all according to the national vote in this election. The arguments of attorneys Sims and Lessig can be found in these essays: https://medium.com/@lessig/the-equal-protection-argument-against-winner-take-all-in-the-electoral-college-b09e8a49d777#.ll25892nd https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-constitution-lets-the-electoral-college-choose-the-winner-they-should-choose-clinton/2016/11/24/0f431828-b0f7-11e6-8616-52b15787add0_story.html?utm_term=.e82e0385ab77

  • Suspend Donald Trump's Twitter Account
When Twitter suspended white supremacist Richard Spencer’s account, in defense of its actions the company issued the following statement, "The Twitter Rules prohibit targeted abuse and harassment, and we will suspend accounts that violate this policy." With his attack on United Steelworkers Local 1999 president, President-elect Trump has crossed the line. He has attacked an individual for speaking out and as a result, this individual has now become subject to the wrath of Trump’s loyalist’s. This from USA Today November 16, 2016 with regard to Richard Spencer: As a private company, Twitter has no obligation to provide a forum for white nationalist views and "can do what it wants," said James Grimmelmann, a law professor who studies social networks at Cornell University. "The case for saying Twitter ought to leave these accounts up is that free speech has purposes and those purposes would be served by having private companies be compelled to be more neutral platforms," Grimmelmann said. "This is not a constituency in imminent danger of having its viewpoints shut down by the powers that be in the United States. We just had an election that proved that there are really ample chances for people espousing strong right-wing racist views to get their views heard." This observation can be carried one step further to apply to the president-elect who is about to step up to the ultimate bully pulpit. We the undersigned request that Twitter suspend the account of Donald J. Trump

  • CalPERS, Divest from DAPL!
The California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), California's giant pension fund, owns a major chunk of Energy Transfer Partners, the company building the fracked-oil Dakota Access Pipeline through the Standing Rock Sioux sacred lands in North Dakota. As of December 8, CalPERS owns 1,064,034 shares worth $36.8 million. In addition, CalSTRS, the schoolteachers' retirement fund, owns debt securities (bonds) worth $28.7 million. They used to own a lot of coal stock, too, until I wrote a resolution that ultimately became law (SB 185, 2015) requiring them to divest from coal. Now I've started a petition to CalPERS and CalSTRS to divest from Energy Transfer Partners. California retirees shouldn't be investing in this pipeline--investing in the destruction of their children's future. The pipeline is intended to carry fracked crude oil from North Dakota's Bakken shalefields through North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois. In the process of construction, Energy Transfer Partners has already damaged numerous sacred sites and would drill under the Missouri River, the sole drinking water source of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The Army Corps of Engineers denied the permit to drill under the Missouri, but we expect the incoming Trump administration to ram the project through--if investors like CalPERS and CalSTRS keep backing this foolhardy project. If CalPERS and CalSTRS don't voluntarily divest, the California legislature will consider a bill, AB20, to require divestiture by 2018. So the smart money is on getting out of a climate-destroying project early. These pension funds are overseen by boards that include union and public officials, including California Treasurer John Chiang and Controller Betty Yee. They are directly accountable to the people of California and have a responsibility to all people to make ethical and responsible investments. I'm prepared to take on this fight again. But I need your help.

  • Ohio Gov. Kasich: Say NO To Guns in Daycares & On Campuses
*****UPDATE: PLEASE READ***** We are currently waiting to find out the extent to which the language of House Bill 48 was "rolled into" Senate Bill 199 last night, another piece of pro-gun legislation. So far, it looks like we will be lobbying Gov. Kasich to veto SB199, not HB48. We will provide updates as soon as we have them. It is now more important than ever to sign and share this petition - the fight just got harder, and the stakes just got higher. ----------------------------- As students and residents of Ohio, Kenyon Students for Gun Sense, along with our partnered gun violence prevention organizations (Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence and the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus) are deeply concerned about the potential consequences for our local and state communities if House Bill 48 is allowed to pass into law. By allowing concealed carry into such vulnerable areas as daycares, airports, school safety zones (while in a vehicle, such as while picking up or dropping off your student)and college campuses, as well as some state and local government buildings, HB48 makes Ohio a more dangerous and more at-risk state - not a safer one. Join us in expressing your opposition to this dangerous piece of legislation. In addition to signing and sharing this petition, you can call Governor Kasich's office directly at (614) 466-3555, and/or express your opposition on Facebook, or Twitter via @JohnKasich. When posting on social media, use the hashtag #NoSB199.

  • Our ONE LAST CHANCE to Keep Trump Out of Office
Donald Trump is unfit to be the president and most powerful leader of the world. His cabinet consists of extremists of the worst kind. His policies threaten everything Americans and the World hold dear, not the least of which includes the health of our one shared planet. We cannot let an unfit president take office. The Electors were designed to be our Constitutional safeguard against situations such as we are in. It is their duty to stand up for the welfare of our country and in this case, our world. We call on the Electors to do their duty and vote no to Trump for the sake of our children and future generations.
