STOP the needle exchange in Falmouth, MaThis petition is aimed to put a stop to the needle exchange proposed at 65 Town Hall Sq in Falmouth, Ma. The heroin epidemic has become out of control in Falmouth and we believe this needle exchange will only make it worse. Would you want to see, or worse, your kids to see someone shooting up while you are bowling, taking care of any business at Town Hall or going for a walk on Main St? I certainly don't! The next logical step is a methodone clinic, then a homeless shelter and then we become Brockton by the Sea. This will make a once great town into a town no tourist will want to travel to or any current resident will want to stay in. This is not designed to go after the addicts. If this was a program to help addicts seek recovery, we wouldn't have an issue. A needle exchange is the town saying "it's okay to shoot up here and as a matter of fact we encourage it." Please do your part and sign this petition to keep Falmouth beautiful. A needle exchange will cause more problems than anyone realizes.138 of 200 SignaturesCreated by anybody in falmouth

Stop terrifying raids on child refugees!A small child, just four-years old, was sleeping soundly over the New Year's weekend when he was abruptly woken up by feet pounding across the floor and screaming in the house. Then his worst nightmare came true: He was taken away by strangers. This just happened in Atlanta, Georgia, one of three U.S. cities, where 121 Central American refugees were abruptly removed from their homes at 4:30 in the morning. No one should be treated that way. We've all got to stand up against this inhumane treatment of children and families. It’s time for DHS to adopt practices that both respect our laws and the dignity of children seeking refuge in the United States, such as the following: • Placing child welfare experts and social workers on the border for screening children and other vulnerable individuals; those who’ve been traumatized by violence should be screened by trained professionals, not by customs border patrol agents; • Strengthening the court system capacity to review cases and ensure due process; • Recognizing that it’s not unlawful to seek asylum at our borders—children and families seeking refuge at our borders have every right to do so under current law and should not be treated as criminals; • Upholding the best interest of the child in all decisions involving children. Join us in urging the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to stop the inhumane treatment of children and families in the name of immigration law enforcement. Decency, fairness, and humanity require that we protect the well-being of the children from Central America seeking asylum in the United States and ensure that they are granted full due process under the law, including adequate legal representation.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elisa, MomsRising.org

Yosemite National Park names should not be changedOur Beloved Yosemite National Park is being targeted by greed and bitterness of Delaware North Company, forcing name changes of all the historic hotels and villages in Yosemite. The Wawona Hotel, which was opened in 1879, the famous Ahwahnee Hotel, built in 1927, Badger ski pass and many others are owned by Yosemite National Park and “we the people”. A beverage and hotel concession company, Delaware North has no business taking ownership of these historic names simply out of spite because they lost a 20-year business contract to service Yosemite National Park. I started this petition out of outrage that a private company, out of spite and greed, is threatening to take away all of our collective wonderful memories of these historic names that we associate with those places in our hearts. This cannot be allowed; please help and use your voice through this petition to out the greed of Delaware North and get the Governor, the President and Representatives to make this severe wrong right. Return the names that belong to Yosemite National Park and to us, “we the people”. Thank you for signing, Lisa Oaks37,685 of 40,000 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Oaks

New Providence Playing Fields: Finding the Best SolutionsNew Providence is proposing to renovate Grove Park and Oakwood Park playing fields by replacing natural grass with synthetic turf, fencing in the park, installing field lights and increasing the parking footprint. We appreciate the need for sustainable playing fields in New Providence, especially for children's sports. We respectfully request that the Borough Council thoroughly considers the effects of these proposed changes on the people who use these parks as well as the areas surrounding the field before moving forward. Our collective voice includes concerned parents, property owners, town residents, neighbors and athletes. Some of us live quite close to these parks. Others of us use these parks for recreational activities that span a wide range. Still others are concerned about the precedent that these proposed changes will have on future Borough public endeavors. We appreciate the Borough Council’s proposal to meet the needs of athletes in New Providence, and we request that the following points are duly considered before any renovations begin: • Property values and any negative effects resulting from these proposed renovations. • Safety issues with regard to increased car traffic to the residential areas surrounding these parks. • Environmental impacts with regard to water flow, the woodlands and aesthetics of the areas near the park. • Health effects with regard to the proposed synthetic playing surface, especially for children. • Lighting impacts and pollution, especially for those living nearest to the field. • Access to natural areas surrounding the park. We appreciate the Borough Council’s efforts in insuring the safety and quality of life for the residents and the athletes who use this public space.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Grove Terrace Concerned Citizens

COLLEGE STUDENTS WANT MANDATORY MEAL PLANS ABOLISHED.. - ***remember to share if you actually wan...Our Constitution demands that Stephen F. Austin, with all colleges nation wide, respect and give way to a student's right of choice, and that that choice not be made under duress and intimidation masked through "policy" If your RIGHT to a choice has been denied, and your money taken by a college you're attending, or have attended, or maybe you know someone who has been violated by a mandatory meal plan policy, or you simply know this is not right, then join me in petitioning our officials: local, state, federal, and even the President, to protect american college students from these bullies and restore the college student's constitutional right to freedom of CHOICE!!! I am a Mother... of a student attending Stephen F. Austin University (Texas) who is being forced to pay for a meal plan she does not want or need. The policy is that every student who resides on campus is obligated to purchase a $1,478.00 meal plan (per semester). That's about $3,000 a year. Most college students will have acquired about $20,000 of debt in just their first year alone! So, why are they forced to shell out $3,000 a year for something that they neither want or need? At the end of the day, anyway you slice it, it is the responsibility of the student and not the university to repay the debt. RIGHT??? So how is the mandatory meal plan a benefit to the educational goal of the student? The universities cannot define that personally for the student. They can only define how it will benefit the university, and they are doing that by fattening their wallets! Not even elementary, middle, or high school students, are forced to participate in a "mandatory" lunch plan; and they are minors! If children have the right to eat in the cafeteria, bring their lunch, or go to lunch with mom or dad, should not college students, who are legally adults, be given and entrusted with the right to choose where they eat and how they pay for it? What the universities are doing, and indeed have been given the right to do, is not only "UNJUST" but cruel, unusual, ridiculous, and "LEGAL THEFT"... When is an american citizen not given the right /freedom to choose how their money is spent?? Mandatory meal plans threaten and insult not only the very reason why our soldiers honorably fight and give their lives, but clearly belittle the intelligence of the student, by quietly telling them "You are not capable handling the responsibility of choosing what you eat." Our constitution demands that mandatory meal plans be "ABOLISHED" from all universities, and demand that they give respect and choice back to the students--the very reason they even have jobs. I am asking, that you fight with me to eliminate mandatory meal plans not only from Stephen F. Austin University ( Texas), but Colleges everywhere in America. IT IS MY MONEY!!!! - Mae Blondell47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by christopher biagioni

Leon County: Start Schools LaterThere is compelling evidence, backed by the Centers for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics, that our teens are showing increasing issues in health, mental health, academic performance, car accidents and brushes with the law related to sleep deprivation as a result of early school start times. There is also a clear correlation between moving school start times to at least an hour later (from 7:30am to 8:30 or even 9:30am) and noted improvements for our kids in all areas. Providing a schedule that promotes health and success for our children needs to be our top priority, and moving the school start time to at least an hour later can help make this happen for our kids.546 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Kimberly Damron

Tell Detroit Public Schools: Our Kids Deserve BetterFor too long, Detroit students and educators have been learning and teaching in deplorable conditions. From serious health and safety hazards such as mold, asbestos and mice infestations, to classrooms with no heat, these unacceptable conditions have been ignored. The floor of the gym at one school has buckled from water damage and is covered in black mold. In at least one school, classrooms even have bullet holes in the walls. Teachers and support staff are expected to teach in overcrowded classrooms without textbooks or support. Students with health issues are suffering due to the lack of school nurses. Educators in Detroit’s public schools come to school every day despite these disgusting conditions and do the best we can to give our students a great education. Enough is enough. Students, parents, educators and the Detroit community are demanding real answers from Gov. Rick Snyder and Emergency Manager Darnell Earley. It’s time to fully fund Detroit’s public schools. Our students deserve nothing less.31,817 of 35,000 SignaturesCreated by Detroit Federation of Teachers

Hilliard 6th, 7th and 8th graders Start TOO EarlyThere is proven scientific evidence that starting middle and high school before the sun rises is out of sync with the biological clocks of young people (people ages 12-25, which includes young teachers). Many school districts in central Ohio have made the adjustment to school start times for the health and safety of their students, but Hilliard City Schools has not. It is time for that to change.179 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Hilliard Start School Later
