• San Francisco Needs a Better Plan
Signing this petition will let city authorities know you have had ENUF and why you are signing this petition. All comments go directly to the recipients. City Hall wants to bring dense development into all our neighborhoods. No area of the city will be spared unless we stop them. 1. Dense development is coming to all our neighborhoods including the Marina, Cow Hollow, Richmond, Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, Western Addition, and the Sunset. Described and illustrated by charts and maps seen here. http://www.sf-planning.org/AHBP 2. You can say goodbye to private yards, garages and other single-family home amenities in the future San Francisco. If you don’t have your own now, you probably have friends who do. 3. This program was designed without any neighborhood groups or residents’ knowledge or involvement. The city authorities plan to approve it very soon with as little public notice as possible. 4. No notice was given to citizens who are signed up to get such notice; and no property owners have been mailed any notices about this new plan. 5. Citizens became aware of the program when this article was posted on BizJournals.com August 11, 2015. 6. No full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is planned for his program. The EIR will rely on the 2014 Housing Element EIR, seen as “legally defensible.” 7. Please see further details on this issue here: https://discoveryink.wordpress.com/sf-actions/a-better-plan/

  • More Walking and Biking: Thank You Surgeon General!
The nation’s doctor has issued a rare Call to Action calling on cities and states across the country to invest in ways to make walking and biking safer, more attractive, and easier to use. Less than half of Americans get enough daily physical activity to help ward off chronic health problems like obesity and cancer, but more “active transportation” options can be part of the solution. By issuing this challenge to cities and states, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy recognizes that not only is this something more people want, but it’s also something we need. Thank the Surgeon General for his leadership on keeping America healthy.

  • Accept Refugees into the U.S.
The news in recent weeks has been awash with tragic images of drowned children and desperate parents fleeing violence and the chaos of war. The one heartening thing in this global crisis is the phenomenon of people lining the road with food and water or filling train platforms to warmly greet arriving refugees. Germany has set an example by opening its program and refusing limits, in sharp contrast to the terrifying scenes we've seen of Hungarian police chasing families through fields. The United States, too, should be be a leader to say #refugeeswelcome and raise the limit on refugees it accepts each year. President Obama has said the Administration is reconsidering the current cap on the refugee program. Sign to tell the White House to raise it immediately.

  • Penalizing Bullies
•I am starting this petition because bully victims will not speak for themselves and are too scared to. •Many issues contribute to suicide risk, including depression, problems at home, and trauma history. •I'm seeing more and more bullying on adults affecting their reputation, business, motivation and encourages others to partake in bullying. •If we start penalizing bullies, we can cut down the number of bullies, suicidal victims, violence, people who partake on it in any way, may stop them from wanting to commit any future abuse and start teaching everyone by force how to stop being aggressive towards one another. • It's a BIGGER problem than what we think. Let's take ACTION!

  • Mark Cuban: stop your net neutrality hypocrisy
Dallas Mavericks owner, Shark Tank judge, and tech billionaire Marc Cuban is in Washington this week to lobby against net neutrality -- the rule for Internet providers: all online content must be treated equally. Ending net neutrality would be great for big telecoms like Comcast and Verizon, but terrible for consumers -- and our democracy. Marc Cuban should know the importance of net neutrality better than anybody. His businesses thrive thanks to the ease of communication and accessibility that the Open Internet offers. And on Shark Tank, he positions himself as a mentor to young entrepreneurs. But now, he's shutting the door behind him and choosing corporate profits over his community. Instead, Cuban ought to preserve that openness for every American by speaking out for -- not against -- net neutrality.

  • $10.10 for Tennessee
We want to establish a state minimum wage law in Tennessee. Tennessee has the highest percentage of workers at or below minimum wage in the country. Small businesses will prosper with this law, as will virtually all middle-income hourly wage workers. We need 200,000 signatures. This petition also calls for an automatic cost of living increase every year.

  • Child support enforcement
I'm starting this petition for stricter child support enforcement. Many of the non-custodial parents live in other states. Florida particularly is slow when it comes to enforcing its orders when the other parent no longer resides here. I have taken the time to track down updated addresses and employment to the state agencies with no success. This is not my job to do. While I have been patient, i feel more could be done. Pass a law that even if they don't live in the state an arrest warrant should be issued for contempt. The law should require all states to assist the issuing state with all enforcement actions. Law enforcement agencies use social media to charge and convict criminals. Non- payment of child support is a crime; use these tools to aide and assist. Hold these individuals accountable. In order to do that, I'm holding my elected officials accountable first. No parent should have to stay on hold for hours, attend endless court hearing when the respondent doesn't show up. The laws allowing these parents to petition for modified orders when they don't pay anyway is absurd.

  • No Budget, No Pay for Pennsylvania Lawmakers
Sen. Rob Teplitz (D, Dauphin County) has introduced legislation that will suspend the pay of legislators, the governor, lieutenant governor and cabinet members until a state budget is in place. It's time to stop playing political games and pass a budget that fully funds our schools, protects taxpayers and stands up for working families in Pennsylvania. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Sen. Rob Teplitz, D-Dauphin, who is the sponsor of a bill that would suspend compensation for lawmakers during a budget impasse, is not accepting his salary and said he is borrowing funds from his bank in the meantime. “'I didn’t want to be a hypocrite,' he said, referring to his bill. 'And I wanted to stand in solidarity with social service agencies, schools and others who are being hurt.' "Mr. Teplitz’s bill would suspend compensation for the governor, lieutenant governor, cabinet officers and the General Assembly if a budget bill is not passed by June 30. His bill, which he also sponsored last session, hasn’t moved from the state government committee since it was introduced."

  • Impeach Governor Mary Fallin
To whom it may concern: We, the people of Oklahoma, are requesting that Governor Mary Fallin face Impeachment on the many levels and facets that Mary Fallin has failed Oklahoma. Mary Fallin has broken her Oath, which she swore to uphold when she took office again in 2014. She has exhibited corruption while in office, and willful neglect of duty and incompetence while acting as a leader for all of Oklahoma. A Resolution calling for impeachment of Governor Mary Fallin to SECTION VIII-1 of the Oklahoma Constitution states the following: The Governor and other elective state officers, including the Justices of the Supreme Court, shall be liable and subject to impeachment for wilful neglect of duty, corruption in office, habitual drunkenness, incompetency or any offense involving moral turpitude committed while in office. We bring you the following reasons to consider: A. Oklahoma ranks 48th in education out of 50 states. B. Mary Fallin cut taxes for Oil & Gas industries shortly after receiving some of the highest political campaign contributions from those same industries for her 2014 campaign win. Mary Fallin cut their taxes from 7% to 2%, while knowing OPEC productions were continuing to hurt the price of Oil per Barrel across the country, ultimately causing a good portion of the $611 million budget deficit. C. Up through the 3rd quarter of 2013, Mary Fallin received $38,250 from private prison corporations via political donations. Her biggest push was for private prisons to be introduced in Oklahoma from 2012 to 2013. D. Mary Fallin promoted and supported failing State Superintendent Janet Barresi, who wasted millions upon millions of dollars for Education here in Oklahoma on Common Core, standardized testing and wasteful spending at all levels of education. Then, only moments before her election and after thousands marched on the Capitol lawn, Mary Fallin changed her mind and signed a bill to stop Common Core in Oklahoma. E. Mary Fallin continues to undermine Teachers and Educators by not offering pay raises and by not offering respect, ultimately causing OKC schools alone to hand out over a thousand emergency hiring certificates to under-qualified teachers. Teachers were either leaving the state for more respect or for better pay at different places of work, ultimately making our educational rankings worse by having poorly trained and under-qualified teachers, leading to even lower rankings in Public Education. F. We are potentially facing a $1 billion budget deficit and total depletion of the rainy day funds. G. She removed $50 million from the seized property funds that may have belonged to individuals who were never convicted of a crime or felony in order to help balance the state budget in 2015. H. Mary Fallin accepted gifts from private donors and took a second luxurious European trip, and wouldn’t disclose how much her security detail and other expenses cost the state of Oklahoma. I. During the eleven days the state was flooded, there was zero response from her second in command, Todd Lamb, and zero response for disaster assistance or relief from Mary Fallin because she was more concerned about her European trip. The state went eleven days with no answers and no solutions, while people's homes, businesses, land, and lives were lost or destroyed. J. Mary Fallin is consistently putting big money and those who further her political career over the needs of people and Oklahoma. K. Mary Fallin invested almost 50% less in mental health than the rest of the nation, causing some of the highest prison populations in the nation, as well some of the highest crimes and violent offenders anywhere in the United States. L. From 2008 to 2013, Mary Fallin claimed to invest more in per pupil funding, which went from $8400 per student to $7672.00; that is less 7.6%. There may be slight increases in educational funding, yet our teachers are still understaffed, overworked and some of the lowest paid in the Nation, in some cases 20 to 30% lower. M. Mary Fallin defied an order from the Oklahoma state supreme court to remove The Ten Commandments. Mary Fallin directed Scott Pruitt to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight for her religious beliefs. Mary Fallin first said it was for historical purposes, then 2 months later got on National TV and said it was for religious purposes. The Oklahoma Constitution voted on and by the people of Oklahoma says the monument cannot stay. Mary Fallin should be held in contempt of court for using her religious beliefs to defy the law. N. Mary Fallin broke her OATH that Mary Fallin swore to uphold by defying the highest court in the land, and then tries to rewrite the entire State Constitution to meet her needs. O. Instead of diverting lottery money to K-12, Mary Fallin wasted most of those dollars in higher education, all due to failed leadership and poor development planning. P. Oklahoma has some the highest incarceration rates of nonviolent offenders in the nation, yet Mary Fallin came up with a program to speed up the release of violent criminals such as rapists, murderers and those who committed other heinous crimes against the people of Oklahoma, before releasing someone for smoking Marijuana. This bill and the law was quickly and quietly put through in 2015 with little knowledge given to the public. Q. Mary Fallin supported the Republican League of Women, who on a number of occasions promoted bigoted and racist comments, as well as supported the OK GOP political party that compared those on welfare to Animals. It wasn’t until it received national attention that Mary Fallin even took action. R. Mary Fallin wasted taxpayer dollars by letting her daughter keep a trailer on state property and paid to have utilities to her trailer run and hooked up to city lines for electric, television, water and gas lines for over four months. S. Mary Fallin continues to put prison funding levels at a higher rate of pay then educ...

  • Cover Bernie or Lose Viewers
Enough is Enough! MSNBC has been downplaying, marginalizing, and downright ignoring Bernie for too long. Now Chris Matthews is falsely making the race out to be between Biden and Hillary, and Biden has not even announced! Not only that, but he's even implying- with staged polls that obviously do not reflect what the real polls say--that Biden will easily beat Bernie! The media can keep putting their spin on things. While they do that, we will not only get Bernie into office, we'll stop watching MSNBC completely! They will notice their viewing stats drop. Then maybe they will see reason.
