• Save Syrian Refugees
As a global leader playing an active role promoting democracy, the US should also step in to provide assistance when those who have no choice must flee. A generation ago my family left Vietnam as refugees when I was nine-years-old. Before us, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese “boat people” survived the horrors of starvation, pirates, and storms in search of freedom. Had the US not welcomed us, we may have suffered a similar fate as the Syrian refugees. Today my sisters and I are proud contributors in the US economy, raising our own families to pursue the American Dream. I believe no one escaping the horrors of war should be subject to death and despair. Please give these innocent families a chance to pursue a decent life.

  • New Town High School Varsity Football vs Sparrows Point High School
The New Town player had crossed the plain and knocked over the pylon to score the winning touchdown. The official near the play was going to rule it a touchdown until the other officials that were no where near the play said it was not a touchdown. There is also a question of an ejected player returning to the game using a different jersey number. We need to take this to Baltimore County for proper action.

  • Child Support Reform
The lax child support laws in Indiana are some of the weakest in the country. Did you know no matter what you owe on child support, any payment, $5 or $10 in 30 days is considered "trying"? These dead beats are likely the cause of most social welfare passed onto our tax payers and stiffer penalities need to be put into place!

  • Stand up Against Animal Abuse
Animals need someone to speak on their behalf. Animals are living creatures, have a soul, have feeling and emotions, and can be traumatized just like humans. Why do some people treat them like the Nazis did to the Jews, or put them in slaughter houses, skin them alive, mutilate them for fun? Won't you be a voice for these beautiful creatures?

  • "Prison Reform for Non-Violent, 1st-Time Offenders"
My family has never been affected by the cruelty and inequality that has grown in the Federal Prison Sentencing. Finally, our day has come. I completely understand how the millions of families faced with the reality of having a loved one placed in incarceration destroys the morale and dignity of the family. 80 billion dollars a year goes to house federal penitentiaries. Most criminals are non-violent, first-time offenders who have been sentenced to extraordinary long-term incarceration that affects our youth more than any group. Let's use our tax paying money on schools and support for the "at risk" families instead of perpetuating the breakdown of the family. I didn't understand, but now I do. In a country, which favors the rich and guilty over the poor and innocent, we need to stand with President Obama on serious prison reform.

  • The U.S. must accept more refugees and asylum seekers from Syria
The refugee crisis, fueled by the political turmoil in Syria, has resulted in the displacement of millions of families. The images of 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, the Syrian child who drowned while attempting to flee the violence in his home country, should inspire a call to action that the United States cannot ignore.   As we have written at The Nation, the United States and many other wealthy nations have failed gravely in their response to the growing numbers risking their lives to flee war or poverty. We recently reported on the plight of refugees arriving in Greece and the perils they face because of this inaction. Refugees from Syria and other countries encounter sometimes deadly conditions on land and by sea and must face extreme violence and danger on their journey to safety.   The United States bears a special responsibility to respond, as our invasion of Iraq, decision to funnel weapons into the region and failure, along with other countries, to find a diplomatic solution have helped to fuel the violence. Since the Syrian conflict’s beginnings in 2011, the United States has taken in only about 1,500 Syrian refugees and has proposed to add only between 5,000 to 8,000 more. This is not enough. Germany has responded to the crisis by agreeing to take in 800,000 refugees from Syria and other countries in turmoil. The United States must do more to help these families. To begin, we call on the United States government to heed the call of aid organizations and concerned politicians and take in at least 65,000 Syrian refugees before the end of 2016.
