• Death With Dignity
I AM WRITING TO ASK YOU TO SPONSOR LEGISLATION THAT MAKES THE MEDICAL PRACTICE OF AID IN DYING ACCESSIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE OF ARIZONA. IT IS GOOD LAW AND RESPONSIBLE POLICY WITH A DOCUMENTED RECORD OF SAFETY. LIKE 70 PERCENT OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, I BELIEVE THAT OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS ARE OURS TO EXERCISE UNTIL WE TAKE OUR LAST BREATH, AND HAVING A TERMINAL ILLNESS DOESN’T CHANGE THAT. I AM CALLING ON YOU AS MY ELECTED LAWMAKER TO GUARANTEE THOSE RIGHTS FOR ME. YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE THIS FREEDOM TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS. THE RECORD SHOWS THAT IN STATES WHERE IT IS AN AUTHORIZED MEDICAL PRACTICE, AID IN DYING WORKS AS INTENDED, AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO ABUSE. IT ALSO PROVIDES GREAT PEACE OF MIND TO TERMINALLY ILL ADULTS AS THEY APPROACH LIFE’S END. AID IN DYING IS NOT A CHOICE OF DEATH OVER LIFE. IT IS AN OPTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE DYING THAT SPARES THEM UNBEARABLE SUFFERING AND OFFERS A CONTROLLED AND PEACEFUL ENDING. ALL DYING PEOPLE DESERVE THAT OPTION, AND THE TREMENDOUS PEACE OF MIND THAT COMES WITH IT. PLEASE, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO ENSURE ACCESS TO DEATH WITH DIGNITY IN ARIZONA.

  • CLOSING OF EXIT 142/CURTIS SYKES DRIVE
We, the undersigned citizens of North Little Rock, Arkansas, hereby petition the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to reconsider the proposed closing of exit number 142 on US Interstate 30, also known as Curtis Sykes Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Our concerns are as follows: 1. The proposed closing has not been carefully reviewed to include all relative feedback, as the latest plans were not initially presented to the community that has been directly affected. This appears as deceit on the part of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. 2. The closing of this exit will pose a great negative impact to the businesses in the area. These businesses utilize the entrance and exit onto Interstate 30 to procure and deliver their goods and services in a timely manner. The proposed change will impact their logistical efforts as to provide efficient service to their customers. a. There are three business parks in the area that also house several business entities. b. There are several dozen churches in the neighborhood adjoining these exits that are served by these entrance and exit ramps. 3. The closing will cause a larger congestive traffic area in the vicinity of Verizon Arena and Dickey Stephens Park during major events, as this entrance and exit are used by travelers as a secondary means of egress. 4. If the exit is moved to the proposed 19th street location, the students that are walking to local schools or participating in the local youth program on this corner are endangered by oncoming traffic traveling at a potentially high rate of speed. 5. CNG gas is the only Natural Gas refill station on Interstate 30 in the area, and will not be easily accessible by the agencies that utilize this service. 6. There are new street plans underway due to the completion of the North Little Rock High School. Due to these plans, closing this exit will cause a backup and delay in traffic on Main Street, which will make it more difficult to access the impacted areas. 7. The proposed closing reflects an injustice to the neighborhoods immediately surrounding and accessible by the entrance and exit, thereby isolating them and causing inaccessibility to the interstate and inconvenience to residents. 8. Residents of the Lakewood neighborhood will face additional traffic congestion while attempting to go into and from downtown North Little Rock, downtown Little Rock, and Interstate 40. 9. Curtis Sykes Drive is a major thoroughfare that leads to North Hills Blvd. 19th Street is a smaller, more congested area abutted by the housing projects. 10. The Curtis Sykes Drive exit is of historical significance to the residents of North Little Rock. Curtis Sykes was a community leader who fought to provide equal access to all the populace of the state and the proposed closing of the entrance and exits at this location casts a negative light on the efforts of the citizens to herald his accomplishments. We hereby affix our signatures, along with our addresses, in opposition to the closing of the entrance and exit ramps leading to Interstate 30 from Curtis Sykes Drive

  • Let The Consumer Decide
After paying off our mortgage in 2011 (13 years early!), I contacted each credit reporting agency and was APPALLED at the discrepancies between the three agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). After 8 months of mailing documents and phone calls, only Experian had corrected their misinformation. "Disinterested" is the best word to describe the customer service I received overall. Introducing competition will force these three credit agencies to actually give a damn.

  • Guns Are US
The gun ownership argument should shift to why we shoot, rather than be centered on the interpretation of what the 2nd Amendment means, or how many bullets should be in a magazine, or how lethal a weapon one can legally own. The reliance on the right to own and use guns in the US is about fear: fear for personal safety; fear of the other and, fear of being emasculated. United States citizens, who so often call ourselves exceptional, should be ashamed of this remarkably unexceptional way of life and death.

  • Reduce the top-heavy administration at the University of Akron
The University of Akron is being mismanaged. As a teacher, I have seen academics take a backseat to other special interests including construction, athletics programs, and the propagation of a severely bloated administrative hierarchy.

  • Members of Pinellas County School Board: Live up to your obligation to Black elementary school...
I have been working in the field of education for more than 25 years. All children should be given the opportunity to experience an effective, solid and meaningful education. Our Black children deserve a quality education to prepare them for the future. It is apparent school board members set the educational clock back 60 years or more when they voted and approved to re-segregate several schools in South Pinellas County. It is time to right the wrong that has negatively impacted black children in these five schools. ~Dr. Psalms Mack

  • Tell iHeartMedia: Anyone who says, "What's wrong with slavery?" does not belong on public airwaves!
Conservative Iowa radio host Jan Mickelson has never been shy about voicing his extreme, right-wing opinions, but this week he revealed just how dangerous he is by promoting slavery for undocumented immigrants. That's right, on the August 17th edition of his show, Mickelson unveiled his plan to capture, imprison in tent cities, and compel into forced labor anyone who can't prove they are legally in the country. When challenged that his plan sounded a lot like slavery, Mickelson replied, "Well, what's wrong with slavery?" and called his plan "moral," "legal," and "politically doable." Mickelson is hugely influential figure in his state's presidential nominating process. Republican candidates flock to his show to try to earn his blessing and appeal to his audience; this year, he has already hosted Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson and Rick Santorum. These horrific views have no place in modern politics, and no responsible business should give Jan Mickelson a platform to spread his hate. Mickelson's show airs on WHO Newsradio, owned by national media conglomerate iHeartMedia. Sign our petition to iHeartMedia Executive Vice President Wendy Goldberg demanding she take Mickelson off the air.

  • Protect the Big Bend From the Trans-Pecos Pipeline!
The proposed Trans-Pecos Pipeline would move natural gas across the vast Big Bend region of Texas to Mexico. This pipeline, backed by the oil and gas industry and big investment banks, would endanger the natural beauty of this pristine, untouched region, threaten the safety of the surrounding rural communities and pave the way for even more pipelines, fracking and oil extraction in the U.S. and Mexico — contributing to climate change.

  • Tell Subway: Switch to better meat!
80 percent of all antibiotics sold in the U.S. are used in animal agriculture. As a result, those same antibiotics may not work when we get sick. We cannot solve the growing problem of antibiotic resistance unless big meat purchasers like Subway stop serving meat raised with routine antibiotics. By insisting on meat raised without routine antibiotics, we will remove a key tool that perpetuates terrible factory farming conditions and prevents a transition to more sustainable, humane meat production.

  • Shut Down Methadone Clinics
I am a recovering heroine addic,t as is my husband. We run 2 addictions recovery ministries. We see 30 out of 50 people walk through our doors weekly. The majority of them hate that they ever got on methadone because now it is in their bones and are deathly sick when they try to come off. The clinic gets $80 to $100 per week per client that walks through their doors! Not only that but as soon as these addicts get their dose, they meet their dealer within 5 miles of the clinic to get the ultimate high! Our lives, our children's lives, and these addicts lives are all at risk. Please help me get these clinics out of our cities.
