• Rescind the Fart Fine
To show the ABC Board there is no public support for their ridiculous ruling and waste of taxpayer money in a year long investigation, hearings, and appeals.

  • Gov. Bryant: Call Special Session to Change the MS Flag!
Governor Bryant has stated that he will not call a special session of the MS Legislature unless one of the factors was a major economic project. We contend that changing the MS Flag, by removing the Beauregard Confederate Battle Flag in its canton corner, is the most important economic project Mississippi will undertake in its nearly 200-year history.

  • Tell the IRS: Close This Hedge-fund Loophole
Hedge-fund managers are earning exorbitant incomes, and many are avoiding paying taxes by pretending to run offshore reinsurance firms. The top 25 hedge-fund managers earned more than all of our nation's kindergarten teachers in 2014. Despite this, these hedge fund managers are paying a lower effective tax rate than most middle-class families. The IRS and Treasury department is considering a proposal to close the reinsurance loophole, which enables hedge fund managers to pay minimal amounts in taxes on their unbelievable earnings. They do not need the additional benefit of funneling their earnings through an offshore reinsurance company so that they can further reduce their taxes. The IRS and Treasury Department have a duty to preserve fairness in the tax code, and the hedge fund reinsurance loophole is plainly abusive and unfair. Former Representative David Camp has a three prong test that would prevent abuses and ensure tax fairness. That test says that “an insurance company would have to have more than 50 percent of its gross receipts consist of insurance premiums, have insurance liabilities equal to 35 percent of its total assets, and be subject to tax as an insurer if it were a U.S. business.” The IRS and Treasury Department should do the fair thing for the American people by closing this loophole. It’s only fair that people making so much money should be playing by the same rules as the rest of us.

Irvin Moore and many others have been Incarcerated almost 50 years. Pennsylvania's refusal to grant parole and commute the sentences of those who have been rehabilitated is financially draining for taxpayers. • Repeal the Faircloth Amendment.
I live in low-income housing. Seattle rents are among the highest in the nation, and my heart breaks at the long waiting lists (up to 4 years) for people to get into low-income housing, while those on the streets struggle to survive. And yet low-income housing is stuck at 1999 levels. (QUOTED FROM THE LAW) “Faircloth Limit” Unit Counts - Section 9(g) (3) of the United States Housing Act of 1937("Faircloth Amendment") limits the construction of new public housing units. The Faircloth Amendment states that the Department cannot fund the construction or operation of new public housing units with Capital or Operating Funds if the construction of those units would result in a net increase in the number of units the PHA-owned, assisted or operated as of October 1, 1999. This requirement is referred to as the “Faircloth Limit.” PHAs should review the linked National List of Maximum Number of Units Eligible for Capital Funding and Operating Subsidy by PHA (PDF). All congress needs to do is repeal this cruel law of which most people are not aware.

  • Release the Tsimhoni children
We need to tell this judge that children in difficult custody disputes should never been placed in a position of responsibility and accountability. It is the parents' and courts responsibility to protect the children--not cause more trauma. Furthermore, never should 9 and 10 year old children be placed in a jail cell for refusing to eat lunch with their father! These children have been jailed since June 24th. Let's send this judge a clear message, that traumatized children belong in counseling NOT in jail!

  • Tell Congressman Steve Knight: Jobs & Education, not Confederate Flags
How does Congressman Steve Knight choose to represent his constituents? Is it by fighting for a stronger middle class? No. On July 9, Congressman Steve Knight had the opportunity to remove state flags bearing the Confederate battle flag from display in the United States Capitol. Instead of voting to remove this symbol of hate, Knight chose procedural delays and parliamentary games, ensuring that these flags remain on display. This isn’t Knight’s first vote like this – just last year Knight was one of just three California state legislators to vote against barring the display or sale of the flag in state museums and gift shops. Sign the petition and tell Congressman Knight: Focus on Jobs and Education, not Confederate Flags

  • Save our water: Protect the Great Lakes
Large CAFO operations are increasing their presence throughout the state. These farms produce an enormous amount of waste, which has been shown to contain antibiotic resistant bacteria that leaves genetic material behind. The distribution of the animal waste has been shown to have a negative impact on local watersheds, and this has a potential to affect all of the Great Lakes. Action is needed. These operations should have more stringent regulations, similar to any other industry, and should be classified as an industry, not as a farming operation.

  • Ban the Confederate Flag on U.S. Military Bases
The Confederate Flag is a historic symbol that invokes the legacy of slavery and racism that defined the American South for generations. It is a symbol held high by the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremicist groups. It is difficult every day for US Military personnel and federal employees to be reminded of the history of racism, fear, division, and inequality while working side by side or treating people that openly display such hateful imagery. Let's follow the lead of South Carolina and remove this racist and hateful flag off of all US Military Bases.

  • Gov. Rauner: Sign the Data Security and Consumer Protection Bill
When credit card companies, health insurers, merchants and others require us to share private personal information as a routine cost of doing business, they owe it to us to keep only a limited amount of that information, and to take every precaution to keep it secure. Right now, they’re not doing enough. Not even close. The Illinois PIRG and Attorney General Madigan backed data security and consumer protection bill passed the state House and Senate with bi-partisan support. Now we need Governor Rauner to sign the bill into law. Senate Bill 1833, sponsored by Senator Biss and Representative Williams, provides much needed consumer protections including: * Updates the information companies have to keep secure to include medical information, geolocation, sensitive consumer marketing date, login credentials for online accounts, and more. * Requires entities to adopt reasonable security measures to safeguard personal information. * In the event of a breach, requires entities to notify the Attorney General’s office. Email Governor Rauner now. Tell him to support the data security and consumer protection bill.
