• Support the Western Tribal Water Infrastructure Act
After 40 years of a failed water infrastructure system, the community of Warm Springs desperately wants this great state of Oregon to help with the replacement of the water pumps, pipes, treatment systems, and sewers. The planning and services to help bring SAFE and HEALTHY water to the community of Warm Springs is estimated at $200 million. The Western Tribal Water Infrastructure Act extends funding to tribes in the Colorado Basin, which includes Warm Springs, Oregon. Your consideration of this bill and congressional influence in this matter will be invaluable and a significant step forward towards solving this crisis. As constituents of Oregon, members of the minority communities, and indigenous people of an American claimed land, WE strongly feel our kuleana (responsibility) is to teach our children ways we can best help our community and neighbors as part of our endeavor to follow our values, and help our community during a time of crisis. We hope to see your support of the Western Tribal Water Infrastructure Act. • TJJD: Give Victims a Voice
A 12 year old girl was raped and pressed charges against her offender in 2017. After the trial was delayed three times over the course of three years, this young woman's offender has still not been brought to justice. It is time that we ensure victims are afforded the rights that they are guaranteed by law. This starts with providing victims with a designated contact in each office across Texas that will ensure that the victims' needs are met. More and more victims feel powerless when their trials are delayed for years at a time. Victims are voiceless when they are not granted time to speak in court and present their Victim Impact Statement. The Texas Juvenile Justice Department is a system that prioritizes the punishment of offenders before granting the victims' guaranteed rights. Please help bring justice to these victims by supporting the revision of the Texas Family Code § 57.003.

  • Giving Land Back to Indigenous People’s in Pierce, Texas
Our nation was founded on stolen land. It is important in the dismantling of White Supremacy for reparations to be given to the Indigenous and Afro-Indigenous people who’s land we are on, including the returning of said land. The family who owns this land and company are direct descendants of a man who fought for the confederate army, the side that fought to own slaves. This is a textbook example of consequences of generations of White Supremacy and Anti-Black racism that need to be fought against to provide Equity to the BIPOC community

  • Petition To Reopen Township Pit
As a resident of Rockford Township we appreciated the use of the Township Pit greatly! Since it has been closed we have had to drive over 20 min away to the Wright County Compost & Recycling Center to transport brush from trimming trees. The transport it’s self has some risks to consider such as driving 55 mph with tied down brush, as items can shift and cause injury to others on the road, especially motorcyclists. While we do understand the closing of the Township Pit was necessary to bring about change, we urge you to consider the time and efforts, as well as safety of the citizens of our Rockford Township equally important and reopen the Township pit as a result. Your concerned neighbor.

  • In Support Of Pump House Music Works
Dear Friends, The Pump House has applied for an extension of the outdoor venue until the end of December. This license will be heard at the next Town Council meeting on October 26, 2020. There are a number of “outdoor” businesses which will automatically be approved. Unfortunately, the Pump House along with a few other businesses have had some complaints from neighbors. We have made numerous efforts to respond to complaints but there is no doubt that these neighbors stand in opposition to the Pump House. As you may also know, we have been attempting to find ways to stay open beyond December. In order to stay in business, we need tents, heaters and lights and we have several pending grant requests. Above all It is important for us to deliver a positive message to convince the Town Council to support the Pump House if we are successful. At the moment, there appears to be some doubt about businesses continuing in the winter months for safety reasons coming from Town officials. It has been our experience that the musicians and the patrons of the Pump House have been overwhelmingly positive. To date there have been no COVID issues and we passed a COVID investigation with “ flying colors”. We fear nonetheless that we are up against a prejudice for continuation of the Venue. In order for us to influence the Town, we need a number of positive voices to demonstrate the importance of live music, particularly in this depressing time. In the four months we have enjoyed the outdoor music venue, we have hosted more than 70 live music performances. Our audiences, many of whom were venturing out for the first time, have been thrilled at the opportunity to listen to live music on the green Bottom line, we need your help. We are asking our friends and the people who know the Pump House best to sign a petition, write a note to the Council, and do anything you can to show up for us by spreading the word. The Town Council has a duty to protect all citizens and businesses of the Town. If restaurants are allowed to open with a tent, there is no reason to deny the Pump House. In fact, we feel that we are an important and unique benefit to the community and serve as a lifeline to musicians who have no other place to perform. Please reach out if you have any questions about how to attend the Town Council meeting. Thank you, Pump House Staff

  • Board of Social Work Examiners Revokes LGBTQIA+ and Disability Rights
As current MSW students who will soon be licensed practitioners, we believe that these recent changes are detrimental to the furthering of social justice. Our future careers and the lives of the people we will serve demand that all populations have the rights and protections that they are due. We demand that the BHEC reverse their recent decision and return the Code of Conduct to offer full protection to people of all populations, specifically persons in the LGBTQIA+ community and persons with disabilities. We also petition Texas lawmakers to change the Social Work Practice Act to offer full protections for all populations. Sign this petition to show your support for reinstating protections for these vulnerable populations. • Vote no on Amy Coney Barrett as Supreme Court Justice
This is so important to protect families in the workplace from discrimination and harassment. It is part of our constitutional right per Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The United States Constitution also prohibits discrimination by federal and state governments against their public employees. Discrimination in the private sector is not directly constrained by the Constitution, but by signing this petition we can change that, we can move forward not backwards on civil liberties. Please join me in telling the house of senate we do not want a Supreme Court Justice who rules in favor of using the N word! We want a Supreme Court appointee that supports workplaces that are free of discrimination and harassment. We want senators who support safe workplaces.

  • Dianne Feinstein: Step Down From Senate Judiciary Committee
Republicans are trying to rewrite the rules and force through an unqualified, extremist candidate for a lifetime position to the Supreme Court. Prominent Democrats spoke our strongly against this move, up until the moment where someone could actually do something. That person is Senator Feinstein, and she did nothing. She made small talk. She asked about Amy Coney Barrett's family. She thanked Lindsey Graham and gave him a hug. If confirmed, Barrett would be in the position to invalidate some of our most hard-fought rights, like abortion access and the Affordable Care Act. Senator Feinstein is supposed to be fighting on our behalf to keep these rights intact, not thanking their opposition for their "fairness" during a patently unfair process. As a constituent, I'm calling on Senator Feinstein to step down from her leadership role on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and make room for someone who's willing to fight the hard fights. I ask that her colleagues on the committee join us in voicing their disapproval of her leadership.

  • Change the name of the Building for Women
The Building for Women in Downtown Duluth has been open since 1981 and providing services including reproductive health care, advocacy for sexual assault victim-survivors, programs for young mothers and young women, and much more. While all of these services are important and necessary, we recognize those accessing the building aren't just women. Folks of all genders access resources through the services provided in this building. The building name is currently a barrier and exclusive to those who are not female identifying. It should represent all of those it serves, not just a portion of them.

  • This police union leader assaulted an unarmed, handcuffed man. Demand his removal.
Michael McGrath — president of the Somerville, Massachusetts police union, and VP of a Massachusetts coalition of police unions — was just charged with assault and battery for pepper spraying a handcuffed man. It’s been a year since the assault, and the police unions he leads have taken no action against him. When bodycam video of the assault was released recently, they tried to ignore questions from the media. Somerville’s mayor said he and the police chief both believe McGrath’s actions are “unacceptable” and they “will not tolerate any unnecessary use of force” — but they could fire him, and they haven’t. McGrath leads the Somerville Police Employees Association, and is a Vice President of the Massachusetts Municipal Police Coalition. Police unions like these help violent police officers get away with brutality all the time. Right now, they’re hoping that attention to this case fades and they can get away with doing nothing. But we can force them to make a choice: take action against McGrath, or be known for supporting police brutality, and face the consequences. Police unions like to act tough. But when it comes time to negotiate their next pay raise, block popular police reform measures, or shield an officer from accountability, their reputation and political standing matters. By confronting these police unions publicly, we can make sure they pay a price for standing by a union leader who is being prosecuted for assaulting someone who posed no threat. We can also make it easier for the mayor, police chief, and other officials to stand up to them — in this case, in other cases of police misconduct, and when it’s time to fight for systemic change. Join us in calling on Somerville’s mayor and police chief to stand up to the police unions and take action to hold Mike McGrath accountable.

  • Speed Bumps
The fact that several parked cars have been hit, we are lucky that no one was in the cars, between the cars, or even launched into someone's house. This has turned into a safety issue and it's only a matter or time before someone is seriously hurt or killed.
