Kishwaukee's faculty is dedicated to the students it serves and expects the School's administration to demonstrate its dedication by ending the games and bargaining in good faith. The administration has pushed half-truths and misinformation to the public regarding the talks and threatened faculty with arrests for attempting to pass along information to students. In 2013 Maine lost 176 people to drug overdoses. This is roughly one person every other day. This is due in part to a surge in heroin use, causing overdose deaths from heroin to rise over 400% during 2013. Last year the legislature passed important measures to curb this frightening trend. But it’s not enough. This year the Legislature and the Governor’s office will be considering common sense policies that will curb the meteoric rise in overdose deaths. These policies will enhance access to emergency medical services and Naloxone, a medication that temporarily reverses an overdose. Tell the Governor and the Legislature that we have to do MORE to address this public health emergency. Tell them that a death every other day is not good enough. Tell them to support Good Samaritan provisions and enhancing access to Naloxone!!! These policies will help save lives, reducing the number of avoidable deaths due to drug overdose each year and preserving our youth, our veterans and other populations that tend to be tragically impacted by drug use and overdose. An Act To Prevent Drug Overdose Deaths By Enhancing Access to Naloxone Hydrochloride: Naloxone is what is called an opioid antagonist. It has no other use than to counteract the effects of an overdose. It produces no high, has no street value and no effect on an individual unless they have opioids in their system. What's more, studies have found that its distribution has no impact on rates of substance abuse - it does NOT increase how many people are abusing drugs. LD 1047 would enhance access to Naloxone by decreasing barriers to getting, using and dispensing this overdose remedy. Allowing for access through non-medical settings would make sure that this life-saving medication was in the right place at the right time. An Act Providing a Good Samaritan Defense To Individuals Reporting A Drug Overdose: Good Samaritan provisions have been passed throughout the U.S. to ensure that people feel safe calling for emergency medical assistance in the event of a drug overdose. In many situations people afraid of being reported to law enforcement due to drug use or possession avoid seeking medical help, increasing the risk of a fatal drug overdose. By providing limited protections for those seeking medical assistance this bill would ensure that people are not punished for attempting to save a life, and are not afraid to ask for help. The difference between life and death can be as much as a few minutes. Every minute wasted could be a life lost. Tell the Governor and the Legislature that we do not want to lose any more lives to drugs. Tell them to support An Act To Prevent Drug Overdose Deaths By Enhancing Access to Naloxone Hydrochloride AND An Act Providing a Good Samaritan Defense To Individuals Reporting A Drug Overdose.

To gain the support of U.S. Solicitor General and have U.S. Supreme Court hear case 14-7455: Three white Columbia, Missouri, police officers yelled "Don't move!", "Hands up!" and "It's not worth it!", interrupting the music on a sunny October day as Josh Williams and Phillip Porter were sitting in a city park, preparing to lawfully have a beer. Phillip noticed that the police guns were pointed at their heads just before the police commands were made to these two black men sitting in a car and listening to music, and they slowly raised his hands in surrender. The shouting initially caused Josh to reach for the radio to turn the volume down, until he realized that his imminent execution was possible. The police then forcibly removed the pair, searched and handcuffed them, and after Josh admitted he lawfully had a gun in the glove compartment, he was also told he was "under arrest." The vehicle was completely searched and their beer destroyed. After an hour Josh's gun was returned, and they were released. The lower federal 8th Circuit Courts said not an arrest and no violation of Josh & Phillip's rights, ignoring on-point Supreme Court precedent. The Integrative Dry Needling Institute, LLC is currently marketing a course titled “IDN Foundation Course”, to be held on March 20-22, 2015 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. This three-day course marketed toward physical therapists includes needling demonstrations by a physical therapist who does not hold an acupuncture license. The course will be held at Elliott Physical Therapy in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Per Elliott’s website there are no licensed acupuncturists on staff, only physical therapists. We petition the COA to regulate the safe practice of acupuncture in Massachusetts. Georgia laws that went into effect last year prevent rescues from having any involvement with stray pets. This means that animals will have to wait on animal control officers to impound them, which is not always the same day. This is detrimental in the event an animal needs medical care or safety from elements or a situation. For the past 6 years I have been in the battle of my life to save my childhood home. Since 2008, my mother has been threatened with foreclosure and eviction by Wells Fargo while at the same time saying they would work with us to modify her loan. This is called dual tracking, and it’s illegal. The court has already thrown out their case for eviction and now we need Wells Fargo to reverse the foreclosure so that my family can have the chance to save the house that we love.

I lost my 28 plus year career in aerospace in 2008 due to the recession. In 2010, I returned to school for my MBA, thinking it would add to my candidacy. But despite having a relevant advanced degree, I cannot get hired at an appropriate level because the middle income jobs have been off-shored. Today I have a part-time job, which makes me thoroughly under-employed making minimum wage that doesn't pay minimal living expenses. It is an economic travesty that those who had a hand in creating the recession, their children don't have to pay back their student loans. Student loan debt is the highest form of indebtedness in America today, even surpassing credit card debt! When will our elected leaders return to doing what is best for the American people, not the special interests. Afford the long-term unemployed permanent student loan forgiveness, now!

With our Country in two wars and on the path to another economic great depression in 2008 and President taking the office in January 2009, the Republicans came up with their objectives of doing "everything they could to cause President Obama's failure. We currently live in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our children play here and attend school just down the street. A cell tower so close to our homes will drastically reduce the liveability of our neighborhood. This proposed tower should be stopped.

My name is Isaac Rodriguez and I’m an EMT at St. Francis Medical Center near Los Angeles. My hospital system, the Daughters of Charity, six hospitals with over 100-years of serving the poor and sick in our communities, is up for sale. The potential buyer, Prime Healthcare, has a track record of ignoring community needs, cutting health services, and laying off dedicated caregivers in order to maximize profits. When Prime bought Centinela Hospital in Inglewood eight years ago, the company said they would “maintain all currently-offered services.” It took them less than a year to cut the hospital’s maternity and psychiatric care units. I couldn’t stand to see my community lose access to so many important services. For me, it’s most important that our hospitals keep providing all of our services to our community. Everything I know about Prime tells me that they will do the opposite. I’ve looked into the company and its practices. Prime Healthcare is under investigation for Medicare fraud and their CEO, Prem Reddy, has stated that a patient’s care should should be limited by what they can afford. If putting profit over patients is what they’re about, Prime shouldn’t be anywhere near our safety-net hospitals. Luckily, California state Attorney General Kamala Harris can prevent the sale to Prime, just as she has done with other hospital sales in the past. If she does, there’s another buyer ready to step up, who has committed to protecting community care and the hospital’s mission of charity. Sign the petition asking Attorney General Harris to stop the sale of Daughters of Charity hospitals to Prime Healthcare, and protect access to quality health care for everyone in our communities.

We urge all to sign this petition because time is of the essence. The Algonquin Pipeline Expansion Project will impact citizens of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. There are only a few weeks left before the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection makes a final decision regarding its certification of water quality for the Incremental market (AIM) pipeline expansion project. Spectra Energy could start construction of the AIM project as early March 2015. After that Spectra Energy will be on track to push for similar pipeline expansion projects, including the Atlantic Bridge and Access Northeast. The health and safety of our citizens as well as the protection of our environment should be our top priority.
