Stand against H.R.347I am making this petition because I believe it is morally and tactically unwise for the government increase the suspicions of the people it is meant to protect and serve. If the government you has nothing to hide, it has no reason to fear its citizens. We only want truth. Is that something the government should have to defend itself against? The greatest law is - Love thy God. The second is Love thy neighbor. Are we not all each other's brothers keepers to atone and answer for each other, to help each other up? Preventing protests near government buildings, is not helpful and after recent events at Ferguson and other places, this only will inspire hostility in the people toward government authority. Please hear me out. God bless you all.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Griswold

Don't move the Utah State Prison. It's a waste of taxpayer money.I felt ambivalent about the Prison being built somewhere else, until they decided they want to build it within a half a mile from my house. I started researching the reasons and the cost of moving the prison. It is so expensive to rebuild the prison elsewhere, and lawmakers don't have a good understanding of the economic development of other cities. Draper is the only city that will benefit from the prison moving locations. Taxpayers will NOT recoup the cost of moving the prison by the tax revenue that could potentially come from the Draper land. Also, the cities that could potentially get the prison do not want it and do not choose it. The city of Draper chose to have the prison in their community.2,891 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Stacy Haight

South Carolina State Health Insurance to Cover ALL of Women's BASIC HealthI am a teacher, and like most teachers, a woman who has the South Carolina State Health Plan. Women are not being given the coverage we need/deserve for our annual visit to the gynecologist. Instead, we have to pay out of pocket $135 or more. The state health insurance plan does not cover a basic visit, let alone the additional services of checking for HPV, STD's, etc. This is an issue of basic human rights, which is sickening to me and needs to be changed ASAP.133 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Katie Blomquist

Tell Sen. McKoon to support religious freedom, not discriminationThe city council of Kennesaw has rejected a request from a neighborhood Islamic group for the right to rent a local retail space for worship service. McKoon’s silence on this issue speaks volumes about the true intentions of his so-called “religious freedom” bill, which is really designed to promote discrimination. "Religious pluralism is one of the foundation stones of this country,” McKoon says. “Sending a message that people of every faith are welcome in this state, and don't have to worry about government trampling their right to free exercise, is something we should want to champion.” Despite being a clear case of local government trampling on one group’s freedom to express their religion, the council’s decision was celebrated by opponents of the mosque, including protestors. Demonstrators held signs that read “Ban Islam” and “Islam wants no peace!” One resident addressed the Muslim group in a public meeting by saying, “We’re scared of you!” Now, Sen. McKoon has the chance to add his voice to this fight, but, so far, hasn’t said a word. The council silently denied the community’s request in a 4-1 vote, claiming they don’t allow religious organizations to rent retail space; however, as recently as July 2014, the council unanimously approved the use of a large retail space by a Pentecostal church. Only one council member, Cris Eaton-Welsh, voted in favor of the motion. “This is 100 percent, bar none, a First Amendment issue,” says Eaton-Welsh, who describes herself as “politically conservative” Catholic. “They have the right to assemble. I don’t understand their religion, but they have the right to do this.” This is clearly a case of religious discrimination. Tell McKoon to take a stand for the Islamic community in Kennesaw by publicly supporting religious expression for Georgians of all faiths.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bryan Long

Gov. Quinn - Please Stop Frackquakes In Southern ILThe risk of frackquakes is well known and proven. The scientists know less about frackquakes in the active earthquake zones - many of them have recommended that active seismic zones be placed off limits to fracking and disposal of waste water. Deer Path Opposition to HSE Redistricting ProposalAs part of the HSE school redistricting initiative our neighborhood has been proposed as the only one that will be split into 3 different schools. In addition, the schools proposed for our children are a wholesale difference from current state and involve much longer bus times and 2-3x greater distance from our home. Especially at the intermediate/junior high level, it is so important that kids can stay together as a group that feed to HSE. Right now, all the options have our kids going to schools that funnel to FHS (in some cases a 65/35 split which is entirely unacceptable) when our children will be sent to HSE HS.170 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Heather Scott

Do not support Elizabeth Warren for PresidentElizabeth Warren supports the disaster known as Obamacare. How can you expect her to be an effective leader if she cannot decipher the ludicrousy of the current program that is putting billions of dollars into health insurance providers that give us $6000 deductibles while we still have to pay the government for them monthly and then pay out-of -pocket for healthcare. She only opposes the tax on prosthetics companies. I think she is nothing but another corporate supporter and we need main street support. I am do not believe that MoveOn should support this candidate.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Gervais

Michigan Citizens against the The Religious Freedom Restoration ActThe Religious Freedom Restoration Act states that a provider's " religious reasons" could prevent a person in need from receiving medical help, housing, or a driver's license. This Act is discriminatory and unkind. We the people of Michigan who have signed this petition do not support this Act.399 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Sherlock

Boston City Council: We Support the Hearings on Diversity in Higher EducationThe Boston City Council has begun a series of hearings to address diversity in Boston's institutions of higher education. While some institutions claim these hearings are not necessary, we believe that the hearings are necessary and we expect full participation from the Presidents and leadership of Boston's institutions of higher learning.49 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizens

White Tights and Socks for Uniform- GirlsMaking a change to the dress code that would make kids' and parents' lives easier, instead of more challenging, would be greatly appreciated. We've endured countless little changes to the uniform code over the past 6-7 years. Complying with the many changes while knowing there is little real return is frustrating, but we've done it. White socks and tights: that is all we're asking. We have been good with keeping up with the uniform merry-go-round, but we're getting dizzy and unamused after yearly, tedious changes. Since this change can only be an aesthetic one, we promise the girls will look just as adorable in white.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erin Kennedy

SPEAK UP AGAINST Senate Bill 1342The bill discourages people from recording the police by making unlawfully recording police – or an attorney general, assistant attorney general, state’s attorney, assistant state’s attorney or judge – a class 3 felony, which carries a sentence of two to four years in prison. Meanwhile, the bill makes illegal recording of a private citizen a class 4 felony, which carries a lower sentencing range of one to three years in prison. We can also stop this bill by calling the office of Illinois governor, Pat Quinn, at 312-814-2121, and demand that he veto the Amendment to Senate Bill 1342. Or you can email him at this link.
