For two years in a row my gas has been shut off in the winter months leaving my family without a way to keep warm or cook meals. We've been struggling to keep up with our bills as well as feeding our family and we are again without heat in our home with several small children. Last year temperatures were below 0 and I personally believe a human being's health and well being is more important than any amount of money.

Our projected move in date of a new school being built is August 2018, but our students need it now! Our school is very old! We have the following problems that our STUDENTS, TEACHERS, STAFF, and PARENTS have to deal with on a daily bases: Parking lot/ dismissal area in need of repair and redesign, recurring pot holes, parking lot size not adequate, safety concerns with dismissal ( accidents on Dean road,45 mph speed limit and no school yellow light or zone indicator ), traffic back ups to 50 East Colonial, rocks and gravel from parking lot spread over side walk area, flooding issues in parking lot, Kindergarten building and PE area, A/C unit inconsistent temperatures. Temperature are below 60 degrees in some classroom,which is not good for our students health. Concrete walkways and inside flooring / carpeting are very old and need to be repaired or replaced. The common area bathrooms are in need of renovation. We do not have bathroom in or around the cafeteria . Overall our school is ugly and we are losing students and funding. Instead of putting a band aid on UPE by doing repairs, we demand a new school! Schools that were built after UPE are being rebuilt before us. DON'T YOU THINK OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF DESERVE A BETTER PLACE TO LEARN!!!!

People should be concerned about the minimum wage for two reasons: 1) there's a major misunderstanding about what the hourly wage adds up to, and 2) the state's economy would be *boosted considerably* by putting more money in people's pockets!

I have two school-aged children attending an elementary level Chicago Public School. CPS is using sexual health materials at the elementary school level that appear to be promotional materials for how to perform sexual acts to enhance pleasure versus being a modest, objective and age appropriate approach to teaching our children comprehensive health education inclusive of sexual health. They themselves admit that they are inappropriate for elementary students. These materials must be removed district-wide.

This petition is for the residents of North Carolina who want Gmos to be labeled in the grocery stores where they shop. People have the right to know what they are consuming. Whether they are for or against Gmos, they should know which products contain them.

I developed an allergy to a preservative that is found in many products, from pesticides and cleaning materials to soaps and cosmetics. I have found it very difficult to avoid this chemical, as ingredients are not always listed, and can be very difficult to locate (webites, emails to companies, phone calls). I found that many people are allergic to this compound, as well as others, and we should be able to easily find out this information in order to protect our health.

It's not against the Law to video tape someone without them knowing. It's agaiinst the law to video tape with audio on it. With Comcast having video with audio in people's homes recording and with hidden cameras in people's homes watching care givers with their children making sure they are not abused, and with all the people recording other people on their phones with audio and posting them on line without consent, this should not be a felony. And Michael Lyon should not be in jail serving time for what the whole rest of the world is doing. Yet another court has now said that secretly recording a conversation -- in this case with an iPhone -- is okay, assuming there was no crime committed with the recording, and the recording was for a legitimate purpose. As the court noted: "The defendant must have the intent to use the illicit recording to commit a tort of crime beyond the act of recording itself." That makes sense. The act of recording alone, shouldn't be a criminal act, as it really depends on what is being done with the recording. And, in an age where not only is recording everything easier, but for some becoming standard, requiring permission to record all audio seems like an outdated concept. The Military Service Buyback Bill (AKA 'Veterans Equality Act'), was overwhelmingly supported by 57 (of 57) NYS Senators and 133 (of 134) NYS Assembly Members over the Summer (June/July 2014). It waited months to be called for by Governor Cuomo (called for on 10/29/14, before election day) only to be promptly vetoed AFTER the election (officially vetoed on 11/7/14) and notably right BEFORE Veterans Day. In brief, some NY Veterans (Cold War and Wartime) are currently and arbitrarily excluded from purchasing any "Military Service Credit" in NY and deserve equality with other NY Veterans. We support equality in NY for ALL the excluded Veterans of Afghanistan, Somalia, Bosnia, and South Korea as well as all other Wartime and Cold War Veterans. This bill would provide all NY Veterans the equality they deserve and is in need of a two-thirds vote by the Assembly and Senate in order to have Governor Cuomo's veto overridden.
