• California Musicians for an Open Internet.
This is a no brainer! An open Internet is the only option if we're trying to keep things fair and away from greedy paws like Comcast. I, being a musician, can't stress enough how hugely the open Internet has helped independent musicians survive and distribute their music without the help of greedy record companies. As we all know, in the recent past, major record companies tried to control how we use the internet. We fought them, and we won. The whole music industry is a whole lot more fair and balanced than before. One can publish, market, and sell their music without ever talking to a record company. I think if companies like Verizon and Comcast are regulating the Web, they will start to try and regulate everything else. This will directly effect music. If one person or corporation has too much power they tend to put their priorities first and that almost always screws the majority. This is a fact. So let's end this. We're watching you, Mr. Wheeler.

  • Washington Post: Apologize for racist, xenophobia editorial!
Stanford Professor Ian Morris argues that British colonialism in India eliminated "savagery," that genocides only killed two percent of the century's population, so they weren't that big a deal, and that obliterating the Native American population was justified since "people almost never give up their freedoms... unless forced to do so."

  • NBA Commissioner: Thank You For Taking A Stand!
Surely by now you've heard about the despicable, disgusting racist comments made by Clippers owner Donald Sterling. This situation is bigger than just basketball. The NBA holds enormous power over our cultural values - having a significantly large impact on American youth.

  • These Nigerian Schoolgirls Desperately Need Our Help!
Boko Haram is one of the most violent, misogynistic and notorious terrorist vigilante groups in the world. They've just kidnapped over 250 Nigerian girls for human trafficking as sex slaves and child brides — and their government is doing nothing to help them.

  • Congress: Don't Pass The Transparent Airfares Act!
The Transparent Airfares Act of 2014 sounds like much-needed reform for greater consumer protection. It's actually a bait-and-switch to let airlines bury tax spikes in their ticket price.

  • Internet freedom
As a disabled person, this was my main daily link to the outside world. If my legs hurt too much to get up, my wife can bring her laptop in to me, and I can see what is happening in the world and contact others.

  • Keep the Internet open!
As an IT Professional, an open Internet is important for my day-to-day work where I research technical issues, often finding answers on free blogs and forums. As a person with fibromyalgia and a spouse to an MS patient, an open Internet is important to me as a medium for support networks and medical articles.

  • Educators for Fair Unbiased Internet Access
As a high school chemistry teacher, my access to small, independent stories and videos is critical, if I am to convey both the excitement as well as the dangers of the world of chemistry. There's no way a litigation-adverse school district would allow me to demonstrate all the CRAZY chemistry-related things people people do!

  • Net-Neutrality at Risk: Don't be neutral about this attempt to privatize free and open access to...
As a math and science teacher (recently retired) I was able to provide more current and thought-provoking activities that were web-based for my students as well as keep up with the latest ideas and methods in teaching content. I also was able to develop a website for my students that gave them an easy way to ask questions about content and assignments as well as keep track of their grades. I see all those benefits threatened by legislation to make the internet "pay-to-play." On a personal level I was able to travel on a work study trip to Guatemala and able to keep in touch with family through the internet. The cost of international phone calls was prohibitive and the modest fee for using computers very doable.

  • Protect Net Neutrality
I am able to provide my second language students with affordable tutoring and free supplementary information through my personal web page. I also use that space to schedule appointments and answer immediate student questions; we would be greatly hindered by price-driven limited access, especially given that we try to maintain affordability.

  • Please keep an open, neutral internet
My income depends upon it! As a recent graduate unable to find work in my field of study, I started a small online business. I barely make ends meet as it is. My future livelihood depends upon an open internet.

  • Keep the Internet open and free!
Companies like Comcast, Verizon, AT&T and others want to create a closed off Internet with restrictions to websites that they see as a threat to profit. They want to restrict access to knowledge and free information that we all have benefited from and that we all want the next generation to enjoy. I am a child of the Internet age and a free and open Internet has been my access to the world. No other time in history has humanity had access to such knowledge.
