Irvington, NJ is poised to become the second city in the country, behind Richmond, CA, to tackle the foreclosure crisis and hold Wall Street banks accountable in a real way. Mayor Wayne Smith of Irvington, NJ and a majority of Town Council members have been working to implement a plan to condemn the most toxic mortgages in Irvington, reset them to fair market value at low fixed interest rates and sell the reset mortgages that back to homeowners so they can afford to stay in their homes and stop the vicious cycle of blight that currently plagues Irvington – fact, the Council voted unanimously last summer to move forward with these plans. Unfortunately, D. Bilal Beasley, the president of the Irvington Town Council, is stalling those efforts. At the most recent Town Council meeting he tabled a resolution that would put this plan in motion, despite broad support for the measure from his council colleagues and Irvington residents. Fortunately, Councilman Beasley's foot dragging can be undone with four votes. Each day that passes without action from the Irvington Town Council is another day closer to foreclosure, homelessness, and bankruptcy for hard-working Irvington residents. Homeowners in Irvington and across the country need courageous leaders willing to stand with them against Wall Street! Council President Beasley & the Irvington Town Council needs to stop playing politics, take a stand against Wall Street’s predatory and fraudulent mortgages and act courageously to save Irvington’s future!

He kept saying he supported immigration reform and even became the first House Republican to cosponsor H.R. 15, the House immigration bill, but that was his only vote. Last week, Denham doubled down. He voted again to gut deferred action programs for DREAMers and military families. This so-called ENFORCE Act would do away with the programs that protect immigrants from deportation and would block President Obama from using his executive authority to fill the vacuum left by Republicans' own inaction. House Republicans like Jeff Denham had a real chance to build on the immigration principles they introduced just a few weeks ago. It was a step in the right direction. But instead, they claim they can't move forward on reform because they don't trust the President to enforce the law. This is the same president who has deported nearly 2 million immigrants. So instead of advancing reform for DREAMers and their loved ones, Rep. Denham and House Republicans have chosen to double-down and blame their inaction on Obama. We're tired of the double-talk. Tell Jeff Denham he can’t have it both ways – either he supports immigration reform or he wants to deport DREAMers. Which one is it?

How is Colorado going to pay for flood damage repair, upgrading mental health care or improving our schools? Well, we can start by looking at the Cayman Islands. Corporations dodge taxes by booking profits made here to offshore tax havens that levy little to no tax. It’s about time that these corporations start living by the same rules as the rest of us. It’s time to close these loopholes and invest in an economy that works for everyone. And the best part is, we don’t need to wait for Congress -- but we need Colorado legislators to act. Montana and Oregon have already passed laws recoup money stashed in offshore tax havens. If we enacted the same policy here in Colorado, it would generate $15.3 million dollars. It's a simple step that could be done in a month if we could convince Colorado legislators to push this forward. But to convince them to take on the big corporations and their lobbyists, they need to hear from you.

Schools are becoming educationally insolvent as well as fiscally insolvent.

Due to the cabotage laws, the goods and materials imported to Puerto Rico in USA vessels are much higher in price than those transported in foreign vessels. All the residents of Puerto Rico are greatly affected by these higher prices which do not help the economy to develop, specially in a economic crisis such as the one being suffered by Puerto Rico. Moreover the common citizen in Puerto Rico is suffering from this situation on a daily basis since they can't pay these higher prices to feed themselves. Getting permission to do a small home repair is absurd. Paying $75 for a permit for a Job that only costs $150 is Absurd. The county's proposal is overstepping into the personal business of our citizens. Lets Stop the Permit Fees for home repairs!

This is our town. Businesses are leaving and taxes are going up. We are at risk of losing our schools. We will NOT improve unless we attract business and families. We cannot attract business and families with the arrogant and self-serving acts of Councilmen Molnar and Polsinelli making Springdale out to be a bunch of fools. We are better than that.
