Forget Arizona's anti-gay bill, guess what's still legal in 33 states?Americans can still be legally fired for being gay in 29 states and for being transgender in 33 states. The Senate passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) to address this problem, but Speaker Boehner refuses to take it up in the House. President Obama has an opportunity to protect as many as 16 million federal workers from discrimination with the swipe of his pen, and we think he should do it right now!731 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Paul Song, Courage Campaign

Please oppose PNM's Replacement Power Plan and Intervene in the PRC Case. Seize this opportunity ...The issue of replacement power for the San Juan coal plant is perhaps the most important energy decision that is looming and will have enormous consequences for at least the next 20 years. PNM’s abandonment and replacement power filing - Is not the lowest cost solution; Is not the best environmental outcome; Is not the best jobs outcome; Locks in fossil fuel energy when an avalanche of scientific data demonstrates that we must transition from the burning of fossil fuels to renewables.622 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Bianca Sopoci-Belknap

Support Common Sense Discipline for IllinoisFor too long, students have been impacted by a system of overly harsh discipline while there are common sense alternatives that develop strong, healthy, school communities. The current system has had a devastating impact on students, especially students of color, LGBT students, students with disabilities, and ELL students who are disproportionately impacted, as well as taxpayers who continue to shoulder the cost of this ineffective system. -Research into state records has shown that in the 2010-2011 school year, Illinois students lost 1,117,453 instructional days due to disciplinary actions. -The overuse of exclusionary discipline contributes to the dire fiscal situation in Illinois. It costs six times more to incarcerate a student than to educate one. -While the impact of exclusionary discipline touches all students, regardless of race or gender, a 2012 study of federal civil rights data found that Illinois suspends proportionally more African-American students than any other state in the U.S., including a Black-White suspension disparity that is the highest in the country. In Peoria, a Black student is 4 times more likely to be suspended than a White student; in Chicago, a Black student is 4.9 times more likely; in Proviso, a Black student is 10 times more likely. University of Tennessee Should Lift the Ban on Undocumented StudentsUndocumented students would like to apply to a University of Tennessee (UT) school, but would be denied based on their immigration status. There is no legal reason that UT bans undocumented students, they do it by choice. It's time for UT to lift the ban on undocumented students and give every student an opportunity to pursue their dreams of higher education.241 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Jazmin Ramirez

Beautify Long Beach! Now a year and a half after Hurricane Sandy, Long Beach is starting to make a comeback. Now is the time to beautify Long Beach. I propose murals at the end of each boulevard on the walls of the boardwalk (if not elsewhere as well). Each depicting a scene from Long Beach History. It would be a fantastic addition to this city's great culture and a tourist must see! I would be happy to lead this project with other local artist's. Would you welcome this to our city? If so please sign the petition. Thank you! Best wishes, Rob Rothman267 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Robert Rothman

Expand Medicaid In IndianaAs we know Tax Rates are very important as corporations within certain business districts rely on lower tax rates. When it comes to the ACA being enacted by Indiana not only Hoosiers are disappointed. Indiana effects surrounding states, as there will be no Region Specific Constraints on doing business. Governor Pence's refusal to approve expansion of medicaid will result in higher prices for all of us in Specific Regions, and the effects of that can be viewed as a undue "Tax because of Indiana." Understanding that under the ACA, when insurance rates in Indiana are higher than surrounding states, it undermines all the benefits we could achieve between 2016 -2020. Therefor its reasonable in the minds minds of most, for Alliances and Coalitions in Indiana and surrounding States should support this petition. The ultimate reason to support this petition: Under the ACA as we promote preventative care, and as we become less ill, less often, its only normal that "routine Care (in or out patient Care) would decrease and for some completely end. The more Americans are enrolled the lower medial should cost. Looking Forward: New and improved remedy's for stuff we never imagined, are now more available for what used to be termed "Terminal Illness" and ailments? We are now more positioned now than ever before in our history to eliminate tradition harmful treatments and leave a wonderful legacy for our children to carry on. Economy: As more routine Care become eliminated because of creating a healthier society, demands for very costly treatments will subside along with its Costs. Reduced health care cost creates competition for insurance company's and It's good for both families and the economy and Business and it will get harmful Drugs off the Market.. Please Sign and Share.
