Richard Black, a candidate for Congress in Virginia, thinks that spousal rape should not be a crime. When Virginia voted to allow spouses to be prosecuted for rape, Black opposed it as a state senator and questioned whether marital rape is even possible, saying "when they're living together, sleeping in the same bed, she's in a nightie, and so forth." This is outrageous and unacceptable. Marital rape is a crime and a very serious instance of domestic violence. And it's not the first time Black dismisses rape with his comments. He once told a newspaper that military rape is "as predictable as human nature... Think of yourself at 25,... Wouldn't you love to have a group of 19-year-old girls under your control, day in, day out?" When candidates for public office aren't met with the outrage they deserve for their offensive and incredibly dangerous comments, it only emboldens them to push radical anti-woman policies once they are in office. Black's views on rape are downright dangerous and inhumane, and we have to speak out. The National Republican Campaign Committee knows that women voters are critical to success. They have to hear that this is the wrong way to attract them.

I feel it is time for all good men and women come to the aid of their respective parties. We need to convince all that our individual voices will increase in volume until the recognize who they work for. And that soon our voices will hold more influence than corporate America.

An appeals court just dealt the latest blow to the open Internet. The court struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s Open Internet Order because of the questionable legal framework the agency used when it adopted its Net neutrality rules in 2010. This ruling means there is no one who can protect us from ISPs that block or discriminate against websites, applications, or services. But there’s hope: FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler can correct the agency’s past mistakes and truly protect our nation’s communications infrastructure. The agency must take the necessary steps to make broadband networks open, accessible, reliable, and affordable for everyone. We need to tell the FCC to start treating broadband like a communications service, and to restore its Net neutrality rules.

Many Americans have contributed to the unemployment fund for a significant period of time while gainfully employed. After losing their jobs through no fault of their own and continuing to searching for jobs on a daily basis and going to interviews, many are still unemployed. Citizens in this predicament will cease contributing to the economy and supporting our local merchants without extended benefits. If unemployment is truly "insurance," these Americans should be able to collect on that "policy" now that they qualify. Please pass the pending legislation to extend unemployment benefits, including Tiers 2, 3 and 4.

The cost of this program pails in comparison to spending in government in other areas. I'm unemployed but I am not a freeloader. I try every day to find a job and volunteer my time in my community. The economy isn't fixed yet and there are hundreds of us competing for the same poorly paying jobs. Food banks are running out of supplies. Resumes are fading to that yellowish color inside of dusty briefcases. I'd rather see the economy fixed, but until then, I just want to pay my mortgage, utilities. And for a bag of dried beans each week. What are your personal financial concerns?

Until a viable jobs bill is instituted and more jobs are provided the American unemployed deserve their unemployment benefits to continue- that's what unemployment insurance was created for!

Breaking news: House majority leader Eric Cantor is working on a hawkish bill that would torpedo President Obama's interim agreement with Iran by setting unrealistic goals for the final deal. A bill in the Senate would add sanctions now. The President is THE negotiator for the United States and needs space to work with his Secretary of State and staff. Iran is cooperating; let's exploit this opening for long-term peace.

I have been unemployed since July and know personally the importance of these much needed employment benefits. The money we receive goes right back into the economy for housing, utilities, food, gas, the basics of life.

As a Jewish American who sees peace with Iran as essential to a broader Middle East peace, I am appalled by hawkish efforts to put a stranglehold on The President's negotiations with Iran.
