Demand companies return the $2 trillion in offshore funds to the USA 3. Demand congress acts to alleviate the huge wealth gap among Americans The Problem According to the Wall Street Journal, U. S. companies are making record profits; but too much of the money is staying offshore where it is lightly taxed. JPMorgan Chase and Bloomberg News report that offshore investing is increasing because of special incentives in the U. S. tax code for taking profits out of the USA. It is now estimated that these company offshore funds total almost $2 trillion. Worse yet is that companies gain tax savings and subsidies by moving and outsourcing jobs offshore, denying American workers employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. They place money in offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Ireland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Singapore and Belgium. Clearly, such companies are the "takers" from the American taxpayers and are not true "makers" in building our economy. Over 280 of America's largest and most profitable corporations don't pay federal corporate income tax. Although the federal government is struggling for cash, many corporations are still manipulating within the tax-code to sidestep paying their fair share. As many Americans are experiencing layoffs and difficulty in finding jobs that pay livable wages, coupled with painful termination of police, fire, sanitation and educational services, large corporations on average are paying their CEOs 354 times the average worker's salaries. According to the Office of Management and Budget, since 1952 the decline in the rate corporations pay in taxes has gone from 35% to 9%. Many corporations do not pay even 9% as they receive such enormous government subsidies that they end up with billions in credits from taxpayers, thereby totally without any tax obligations. Advocates for the business community state that the corporate gross tax rate of 35% is unusually high, but they neglect to tell you that in practice, they pay much less or nothing due to many exemptions and subsidies won from Congress at the behest of corporate lobbyists. Many companies have purchased lobbying services, spending more than $1 billion to influence Washington lawmakers over the last decade to have their taxes slashed. The Solution This petition demands that a specified tax haven/tax zone is established her in the United States, denying tax credits to all companies investing elsewhere. This tax haven will serve as the approved tax zone/haven allowing companies to gain from a structure within the established tax code that is transparent and basically equal to all. Companies will be required to report to the IRS all funds now offshore ($2 trillion) and pay a fair offshore repatriation tax rate. This authorized tax haven should help return to the USA more than 582,000 jobs now offshore as a result of offshore investing. This specified U.S. tax haven will generate new revenue that is channeled into expanded initiatives to create more opportunities to achieve the "American Dream" of upward mobility through gainful employment or entrepreneurial advancement.

A new study co-authored by the Friends of the Earth and Pesticide Research Institute found that seven out of 13 samples of garden plants purchased at top retailers in Washington D.C., the San Francisco Bay Area and Minneapolis contain neurotoxic pesticides known as neonicotinoids. Neonics, made by Bayer CropScience and Syngenta, are the fastest-growing class of synthetic pesticides. They’re also linked to the mass die-off of honeybees. How do we get bee-killing plants out of garden centers? We start by asking the CEOs of two of the largest national chains – Home Depot and Lowe’s – to stop selling them. Help us, and our partner organizations, gather 300,000 signatures. When we reach that goal, we will meet with the CEOs of Home Depot (Frank Blake) and Lowe’s (Robert Niblock) and ask them to do what garden centers in the U.K. have done – commit to getting bee-killing garden plants out of their stores. About 100 crop species provide 90 percent of food globally. Of those species, 71 are pollinated by bees. In the U.S. alone, a full one-third of the food supply depends on pollination from bees. Can we afford not to pressure Home Depot and Lowe’s into getting neonics out of our gardens?

The September 11, 2001 terror attacks resulted in 2,996 immediate deaths and 2,977 victims not including the surviving family members of those that died. The euthanization of a dog because it is a pitt or rottweiler or otherwise what is known as a so-called aggressive breed is wrong and should be changed. Unless the dog is out of control and is literally just randomly biting people they should have a chance in life just as all people do. I have met plenty of pitts and all of my limbs are still in place. None of them have attacked me, and some of them are trained to protect. Not to kill or harm but to protect the family. If the dog doesnt listen or can not be retrained and is just constantly attacking people or has had the taste of blood then its understandable but to kill an animal just because one has been aggressive due to being trained by its owner that way is just wrong. One bad dog doesnt make the whole breed bad and it is time to stop the animal cruelty.

Many Harding, Madera and Portola students who had Mr. Kenneth Brewer as their teacher did not receive any instruction, direction or teacher led discussions while in class with Mr. Brewer. Many students felt unsafe in a confining and fearful classroom atmosphere, while being subjected to unreasonable yelling and bullying by Mr. Brewer. Parents and Students should not tolerate such substandard academic education or treatment.

In a matter of days the new moderate President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani will be in New York to address the United Nations General Assembly. From sanctions that are hurting thousands of Iranians, to the Syrian crisis, millions of people stand to benefit from President Obama meeting with President Rouhani in an attempt to work out differences diplomatically. The last time Iran had a moderate President, George Bush named Iran as part of an axis of evil. Those comments made it even harder for former President Khatami to pursue diplomacy, as conservatives in Iran were able to argue that reaching out to the US would only be met with hostility. We’ve already started repeating the same mistakes again. Congress recently voted to increase sanctions on Iran before the new president was even sworn in. At the moment conservative lobby groups are pushing for President Obama to further isolate Iran. However President Obama has previously said he would be happy to talk to Iran and Iranians. Unless we show the President that such a move would have public support it’s possible that he’ll cave to conservative lobby groups. We saw what happened with Syria. If people stand up and make our voices heard - it can make a real difference in our foreign policy. President Rouhani isn’t perfect - there’s no denying that. However, pushing another moderate President into a corner in Iran, thus limiting their ability to pursue progressive reforms isn’t good for anyone. With economic sanctions that are hurting everyday Iranians and with an increase in rhetoric about an attack on Iran - there’s a lot to be concerned about. There is no guarantee of success by talking, however not trying to broker solutions using peaceful means given the stakes is unforgivable.
