R1 zoning is for single-family residences. It was never intended to house 20 plus inmates next to families with children or near seniors and pre-schools. In a community that is already overburdened with homeless shelters, permanent supportive housing, gang violence, and several other transitional housing during a time of a pandemic and civil unrest our elected leaders should have considered those who live in the area and notified the community as they are obligated to do so and obtain feedback. Although, transitional housing may have some benefits the disadvantages are greater. Homeowners have spent their life savings to buy their homes. Children and preschoolers should live in a safe environment and as our recent pandemic has proven. Density housing is a failure and should never be rushed into. A single home with over 20 people who are violent offenders should have never been rushed into.

This is to save what is left of the United States. We as Americans have to do our part in making sure we save our country.

The justice system needs to be reformed. We must act to remove those who tarnish the system. We must revisit how we are training police. We must evaluate how the hiring process works. We must enable the so called good police to weed out bad ones. We must end the war on drugs that continues to put non-violent offenders in for-profit prisons.

To preserve the constitution, save the country from further descending into anarchy, chaos, and civil war.

If George Floyd’s murder wasn’t filmed, no one would know what happened. If cops are required to wear body cams, they would be more careful and there would be less killings of innocent black people.

You have the chance to make change and inspire change in other police departments by leading by example. Be the heroes that we hope you will be! We know that you care about the Scituate community, and that your work-life is dedicated to serving our community. Help to enrich and enlighten our community by educating yourselves about the implicit unconscious racial bias that lives and thrives in every community in America. Lead our community to rise up and make real lasting change!

We talk a lot about equity and fairness on our campus it is time we walked the walk and not just talked a lot of empty talk.  Tell Chancellor Johnson to do the humane thing.

The Trump administration has shown a complete disregard for the Constitution, and openly plans to use violence against the people of this country. There’s nothing more unpatriotic than declaring war against Americans, especially when these protesters are calling on our country to live up to its highest ideals.

President Trump wants to use Twitter to spread disinformation about vote-by-mail to his millions of followers. And unless Twitter acts, he could deter countless voters nationwide from casting a ballot by mail this year -- or whip up vigilantes who will suppress votes in person. Trump -- who voted absentee in Florida’s primary this spring -- has been railing against vote-by-mail for months. He’s spouting baseless claims about the reform -- and even threatened to withhold federal funding from states that encourage it. And Trump’s Twitter account has been integral to his anti-vote-by-mail crusade -- sharing dangerous and disproven lies about the reform with his millions of followers. Up until recently, Twitter hadn’t applied its policies against election-related misinformation to the president. But now, for the first time ever, Twitter has added a disclaimer to one of Trump’s tweets -- describing his claims about vote-by-mail as “unsubstantiated” and linking to more credible information. Trump is outraged. And he’s retaliating against Twitter and other social media platforms with an executive order targeting them -- if they don't let him keep tweeting whatever disinformation he wants. Twitter has a responsibility to make sure voters aren’t misled by harmful, deliberate disinformation. And for the sake of our democracy, we can’t let Trump intimidate social media platforms out of upholding that duty. Vote-by-mail is a secure and convenient option for voters, and it’s more necessary than ever during this pandemic -- which is why Republican and Democratic election officials are relying on it. Any efforts to discredit this vital reform are efforts to disenfranchise American voters, plain and simple. Add your name to tell CEO Jack Dorsey and the team at Twitter: don’t let up on your duty to stop dangerous disinformation on your platform -- and don’t let Trump use Twitter to suppress votes.

Transparency and a means for identification keeps protesters AND police accountable for their behaviors. If citizens are asked to carry identification when they drive (so they can be identified if they break the law) so too should police be required to show identification if they break the law. PEACEFUL protesters in my city have been met with completely unwarranted aggression from police whose badges were covered up with tape. What message does this send other than "we will not be held accountable for our actions". NO ONE is above the law, even those who swore to uphold it, and even under the guise of keeping people and property safe from "violent" protestors. Police officers acting as if they are above the law is EXACTLY what caused this outrage to begin with. Even if there are only "a few bad apples" within the police force, those apples didn't grow over night - they were only held accountable for their offenses when proof of their conduct was made publicly available on social media. Perhaps if all officers had to wear body cams regularly and ensure their badges were visible so citizens can identify them, it would help you weed out those "few bad apples" BEFORE they murder innocent people.
