The International Civil Rights Center and Museum (ICRCM) is a Historic landmark, promoting an understanding of the struggles for equality, justice, and freedom in the United States and across the world. ICRCM is located in the former F.W. Woolworth building the site of the 1960 lunch counter sit-in protest against racially segregated eating accomodations. ICRCM is seeking funding support from the City of Greensboro for operating expenses to carry on this vital work.

Hugely popular children's books like the Ramona Quimby and Junie B. Jones chapter books are wonderful finds for little girls and boys. They help teachers interest new readers in books. Wouldn't it be great if some copies of these books could be printed with illustrations of little Black and Brown girls. This does not seem like a glass mountain to climb but more a choice of will, and perhaps a job or two for a few illustrators. I know this is not an issue to lose sleep over or be enraged about but it is meaningful and important all the same. I would love to walk up to the children's section of a library or a book store, with my students or my own children, and see a rainbow of Ramona and Junie B. Jones books to choose from! If the authors of these two series are with us we cannot fail, let them know it matters. Help me work for this by signing my petition!

The following information was excerpted from a similar MoveOn petition to the Los Angeles City Council. Russia's elected leaders are out of control -- and we can't stand for it any longer. First came a ban on the adoption of Russian-born children not only to gay couples but also to any couple or single parent living in any country where marriage equality exists. Then came a law allowing police officers to arrest tourists and foreign nationals they suspect of being homosexual, lesbian or “pro-gay” and detain them for up to 14 days. And then the "gay propaganda" law, making any parent who tells their child that being gay is okay, any Pride parade organizer, any health official distributing information regarding safe sex between same-sex partners, even a judge or lawyer, can be subject to arrest or fine. Already people are being arrested, beaten, intimidated and more. One lawmaker even vowed that foreign nationals attending the 2014 Sochi Olympics would be subject to this. Recent anti-gay violence in Charlotte sister city Voronezh is concerning and is cause for action. Charlotte should send a clear message that violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens of Voronezh is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Mayor Kinsey and Charlotte City Council should vote immediately to pass a resolution to sever ties with our sister city, Voronezh.

After spending tens of millions of dollars attempting to break in to the New York City market -- and facing fierce community resistance -- Walmart finally gave up in 2012. But now David Storobin, Republican candidate for NYC City Council, has said that he has a plan to help the poor if elected -- bring Walmart to the city. Storobin is wrong -- Walmarts hurt communities by driving down wages and drying up local businesses, all in the name of outrageous corporate profits for the executives at the top. Brooklyn doesn't need a Walmart -- add your name to say "no" to any new Walmarts in New York City.

We need to stand for the victims and demand justice, Michael Doporto should never get out of prison.

Due to the hateful environment against gays and lesbians in Russia the American government needs to place pressure on the International Olympic Committee to pull all Olympic events from Russia.

My business has been blocked from expanding because BLM will not issue any permits to any other vendor to provide shuttle service to river recreationalists on the Colorado River. Rancho Del Rio has been the only vendor allowed to legally operate since 2009. Tell BLM anyone should be allowed to purchase a permit to operate on BLM land, not just one company!
