Oklahoma Health Care System is Not Fair!! Needs Major ChangeHello my name is Ms. Sounte Sherron the reason for my Petition. I'm so disgusted with Oklahoma Health Care System there is no love here seems like. And this is my home State. The system sucks bottom line, so behind, so out dated. They help the disabled, but not enough to those that really need it, we are not like other states who help you. I have never had the problems I have faced since I moved back from Chicago, Illinois with my kids, an disabled mother. She recieved all the help she needed with no questions asked my mother did. I even worked for the State of Illinois 2 1/2 years as my Moms PA/ Personal Assistant, the state paid me well to take care of my mom. They wanted me to take care of her, because it cost them less to pay me then to pay the Nursing home thousands of dollars to take care of Her. I have been getting the run around since we moved back in 2011. I been told I can't get paid because I'm her daughter we live in the same house. Makes no sense, I'm doing all the work she is 24 hour care, she in a hospital bed, paralyzed on the left side, incontinent, practically bed ridden. She suffered a massive Brain stroke in 2008. If I wasnt able to draw my unemployment for a year and 1/2 we wouldn't have made it this far. But after that ended I went without an income for myself almost 6 months before I started working again. I had no choice but to go back to work. I refuse to put my mom in a nursing home for the rest of her days permantely. It's a shame that I can't get paid to take care of her here. So they say DHS, when many people have told me that's not true. People are getting paid to take care of there loved ones as I speak. Here in Oklahoma it almost took me over a 1 year to get my mom approved for medicaid for the second time around. The first time it took 6 months to get her approved, left a big bill at the nursing home over our heads, until the State backed paid the outstanding balance. But after a month the State took it away from her just like that, said she get to much money not true, that's a lie. She is well under the income guide lines. I was told by a case manager at DHS. So whats the problem???? When she was in Chicago she was approved an kept the benefits until we moved away had no problems at all. Sometimes I wish I never moved back here, I took a big pay cut. All my moms supplies were covered, since we be here I have had to buy her incontinent supplies every month. When she should be getting them free, delivered to our door every month. I came down here, I had to re-apply the day after we arrived for Medicaid, my mom temporarily stayed in a nursing home until I found a house an got settled it took 3 months. You want believe the case manager denied my mother because he said he had no proof that her case was closed in Chicago. When my argument was just put her in the system , Medicaid would see she can't be at two places at one time she can't be in Chicago if she now in Oklahoma. But he went by the book so he say. He Gave me the blues. There is so much more I want to share with my experiences with Oklahoma health care. Trying to get everything for my Mother hasn't been fair. Bottom line Oklahoma health care needs change, needs up grading. My mom was born an raised in Oklahoma. She worked as a LPN charge nurse 25 years different states, from California, Oklahoma, to Chicago where she did 8 years home health care. She has worked hard all her life she has paid the price to reap all the benefits she can get being retired & disabled at age 64. I feel the system is designed to help who they want to help. I believe they really want me to put her in the nursing home, so the nursing home can get her money its been said in so many words. She doesn't want to be in a nursing home permanently for that very reason. So on that note I'm still taking good care of my mom. Despite the fact I work weekend doubles only for my job. Thanks to my daughter an baby son who take care of thier Grandma while I'm at work. I thank god for them. It's not easy nor has it been fair the way there system is. If I could change things around here, make a difference, I definetly would. So want you sign my petition take a stand with me if you agree lets make some noise together. Im taking a stand for not only my mother but for everyone that is being affected by the Oklahoma Health Care system. Disabled people who are not getting what they rightfully all deserve, I know my mom is not the only one being affected. Thank you for your Time Understanding God Bless everyone. Ms. Sounte G. Sherron Closing Remarks!! It's true People do abuse the system, but what about the ones that don't abuse it. What about the people that care a heart, and are doing the right thing taking care of their loved ones like me. Nursing homes abuse the system so many people are being neglected, missed treated, not being taking care of properly in nursing homes so what's the difference??? I have been taking good care of my mom, I'm the reason why she still here an by the grace of God. She has been down 5 years but she still here with me no signs of neglect, no bed sores at all. My point exactly!! Why can't I get Paid I'm doing the Work!!! Thanks27 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sounte

Handicapped person's property devalued without compensationAfter asking several times for handicapped parking in front of my home, Wyalusing removed on street parking except for church and carnival functions leaving me without a place to park since my property is the only one without alternative parking. Their action has devalued the property because it is landlocked as well as making me a shut-in, unable to get to food, doctors, mail and other necessities.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carolyn Harrsch

CNBC: Don’t become the next Fox News – stop denying climate changeWhen President Obama gave his landmark speech in June calling on America to address the causes and impacts of climate change, business station CNBC was the only cable news network that refused to run even one second of the speech. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the network’s egregious climate reporting. A recent Media Matters report found that over half of CNBC’s climate science coverage since 2013 has cast doubt on the scientific consensus that CO2 emissions from fossil fuels is causing climate change. When viewers called CNBC out over Twitter for presenting false information, Squawk Box co-host Joe Kernen responded with offensive statements, calling the tweets a “global warming jihad launched against me by the Eco Taliban”. What’s more, he responded on air, saying: “You haven’t read my Twitter feed, I’ll tell you that much […] there’s a lot of things happening the enviro-socialists are–man, it is a cult. It is a bona fide cult." Calling groups that acknowledge climate change part of a cult isn't just absurd, it’s really bad business advice. This is the kind of climate coverage we expect from Fox News, not a subsidiary of NBC. As a major business network under the banner of NBC Universal, CNBC has a responsibility to report on how climate change will impact its viewers, particularly from a financial perspective, not give voice to disproven conspiracy theories. When the recession hit, CNBC came under fire for making excuses for Wall Street. Now they’re denying climate change. We can’t afford to have CNBC go down the same path as Fox News, compromising their integrity to appeal to right wing viewers. Right now, because CNBC’s ratings are declining, CNBC management will be looking to make changes to get their ratings and advertisers back. We know they are listening. If we make a strong push for responsible journalism and accurate climate reporting, our efforts could help turn things around at CNBC. Please add your voice.1,560 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Jesse Bacon

Immigration reformI know illegals who are hard working & have families. They have been here for 13 years with 3 children, 1 in college who just received her right to a social security card through Pres. Obama's program, and 2 who where born here & are citizens. Their parents need a path to legal citizenship, as do so many other families in this same situation .14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jeanne Schneider

Gov McCrory: No drug testing for public assistanceDuring their final hours in Raleigh, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a foolish bill requiring those applying for public assistance to pass a drug test before they can become eligible for assistance. This unconstitutional idea has been tried in other states, but it has always been stopped by court order. A group of civil rights organizations sent a letter to the Governor outlining the problems with the bill and asking him to veto it. We are asking him to do the same, but we think the Governor should hear from you. HB 392 should be vetoed because it creates unnecessary hurdles for North Carolinians in need of public assistance. It imposes additional requirements on the Work First Program, which provides temporary support for families as they work toward self-sufficiency, and on Food and Nutrition Services, which helps low-income households buy adequate food. As state employees told legislators at legislative hearings regarding this bill, these programs already use a system of interviews and drug screenings to efficiently screen applicants who may be at risk of drug or alcohol addiction. Research shows the differences in the proportion of public assistance and non-public assistance recipients using illegal drugs are statistically insignificant. A more thorough consideration of HB 392 would have revealed that Florida, before its own drug testing law was declared unconstitutional, found that the rate of drug use among these populations is lower than in the general population. The bill is grasping at a problem that simply does not exist in the population of North Carolinians impacted by this legislation.7,671 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Action NC
