FCC has had since 2010 to enact the "Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation [ CALM ] Act . Passed by congress December 15, 2010 it directs the FCC to establish rules that prevent commercials from being broadcast at a louder volume than the program they follow.I have yet to see this Act abided with.

Our food is killing us and those that govern our food are being paid big money to let corporations mislead the consumers. The product labeling is misleading and false! The fish is being swpapped out for less expensive fish full of toxins. The fruit and vegetables are being laced with poisons. Our meat is full of chemicals to make the animals fat faster. We go into the market and spend our hard earned money on food that is killing us.

Currently, federal General Schedule employees that are not permanent are being released when their yearly renewal comes due. This affects those who have a term contract for a certain number of years that renews each year. Regardless of where an employee is within their term, the position is being cut when the yearly renewal comes up. There are many employees throughout the country that this is currently affecting, and can effectively shut down crucial departments that are mostly made up of employees under these terms. One such department is the Technology Integration division of the Army's prestigious Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Ca. This division creates interactive educational materials for soldiers learning foreign languages, which the US Government views as a critical expense. However, the broad, blind cuts will effectively shut down this division.

On April 22, 16-year-old Kiera Wilmot was arrested at her Polk County high school for conducting a science experiment. Polk County Superintendent John Stewart has made the decision to place Kiera in an “alternative school” as he considers expulsion proceedings. The teen, who has no criminal history and maintained good grades, has suddenly found herself trapped in Florida’s insidious school to prison pipeline; which has continually funneled mostly youth of color out of Florida’s schools.

Air Force Chief of Staff Mark A. Welsh III says that 20% of women who volunteer for duty have already been sexually molested or are part of the "hook up" culture and therefore they get raped in the military. President Obama says our Military Members should know that the Commander in Chief has their back. Well prove it Mr. President. Fire General Mark Welsh for his ridiculous conclusion that service members arrive as damaged goods and therefore can be further sexually assaulted by those under his command. We fight wars abroad. Our healthcare costs are increasing at an alarming rate, threatening the solvency of our country, because we don't regulate them like most countries. Healthcare doesn't need to be a profit-center for private corporations. We also need to provide healthcare coverage to the millions of Americans who lack it. Not only is it the humane thing to do, it's economical.

Women who give birth at Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls, ID should have the option of Water Birth. The hospital's policy is that women are welcome to labor in the tubs provided, but are to leave before or when pushing begins. This cannot be forced upon you, but if you want to give birth in the water, which has many benefits and a great safety record, this should be welcomed with trained staff alongside you. It is a very safe option for pain management and comfort during labor as well as a gentle beginning for baby. Many women would labor longer without medication if this was an option which could shorten the time of side effects and risks of those medications. It will allow the opportunity for amazing birth experiences for those who choose to birth this way. I have not seen evidence of a written policy and would like one to be implemented.

James A. Czywczynski of Rapid City, South Dakota, purchased the 40 acres of Wounded Knee in 1968. The taxable value of the land is $6,600.00, however he is attempting to sell the land back to the Oglala Sioux for $3.9 million. He has given the tribe until June 1 to express interest in the land. Given the historic significance of the land, it is time for the United States Secretary of Interior, Sally Jewell, to declare "eminent domain" on all of Mr. Czywczynski's Wounded Knee property. Native Americans from across the country go to Wounded Knee to remember the wounds that have never healed there. Return this land to the Oglala Sioux tribe so the wounds can begin to heal.
