• Equal Protection, Equal Pain
Congress should not be able to insulate itself from the effects of the laws it passes, nor be able to pass other laws to lessen the negative impact of a law on its members.

We have been through the process of selecting a Superintendent twice. The money were spending on consultants could be used for teachers or maintenance. • Florida Medicaid Expansion
Florida's Legislature rejected Medicaid expansion and the accompanying 51 billion federal dollars that would have provided healthcare to nearly 1 million Floridians. Several studies provide estimates that the Medicaid expansion would add more than $2 billion to the Florida economy annually and add over 55,000 new private sector jobs. Leaving 100% of the federal funding on the table to be sent to other states is a mis-representation of the citizens of Florida whose tax dollars will be sent to other states.

  • No talking or texting while driving.
I would like for The State of Florida to ban the usage of cell phone while driving, unless it is with a hands free device. There are too many accidents as a result of careless driving because people are talking and/or texting on their cell phones.

  • Reinstate Congress' partial repeal of STOCK (Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge) Act
A year ago, President Obama signed the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act into law at a celebratory ceremony attended by a bipartisan cast of lawmakers. The law wouldn't just outlaw trading on nonpublic information by members of Congress, the executive branch and their staffs, it would greatly expand financial disclosures and make all of the data searchable so insider trading and conflicts of interest would be easier to detect. The president signed a bill reversing big pieces of the law and it barely made print media news, There was no fanfare when the Senate and then the House passed the bill in largely empty chambers using a fast-track procedure known as unanimous consent. In the House, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., shepherded the bill through. It was Friday afternoon at 12:52. Many members had already left for the weekend or were on their way out. The whole process took only 30 seconds. There was no debate. NPR reported that "There weren't too many members of Congress who were aware of this legislation," says Craig Holman, the government affairs lobbyist for Public Citizen. "And I suspect very, very few understood what a sweeping radical change it is to the STOCK Act." When was the last time Congress acted so quickly and so cooperatively? Stop Congress from insider trading.

There are tons of materials that need to be removed from Afganistan and have been slated to be shipped back to the USA. Rather than ship them so far, we can fulfill pledges to our Middle East allies and save us money at the same time.

  • Record Expungement for Non-Violent Charges
You or someone you know may have difficulty with rebuilding their lives after serving time in prison due to their criminal background. Those with a background of non-violent crimes should be given the opportunity to expunge their past record, so they may have a second chance at creating a better life for themselves and their family. Regardless of county jail time or prison time, record expunging should be treated equally for the same non-violent charges.
