Mark Zuckerberg has decided to throw a fundraiser for Governor Chris Christie's reelection campaign. Zuckerberg made waves when he donated $100 million to Newark public schools in 2010. But just this year Chris Christie is trying to take $50 million away from Newark public schools -- half of Zuckerberg's donation. And that's on top of the $3.6 billion he's cut from New Jersey schools -- urban and suburban -- since he took office. Tell Mark Zuckerberg that he can't pretend to be friends with New Jersey students while buddying up to Chris Christie. He needs to cancel his fundraiser today.

A Republican lawmaker in New Mexico introduced a bill on Wednesday that would legally require victims of rape to carry their pregnancies to term in order to use the fetus as evidence for a sexual assault trial. House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), would charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony for "tampering with evidence."

Both parties have used gerrymandering to increase their representation. It destroys any pretense of democracy. There already exists a usable system for creating districts by population which is non-political and fair to both parties. It is the Post Office's zip code system. Some districts might need some re-arranging, but most are usable now. Please do something for the people that will last for generations.

Officials attending these conferences without public knowledge and accountability violate our democracy.

I used to be able to go to my math classroom before class and ask my teacher for help on problems I didn't understand. Now, I will be forced to sit in first/second period, wasting time, while the teacher works with those few who need help. The new TAP Intervention schedule is a complete failure, and the only solution is to revert to the original configuration.

We are in need of your assistance. A grave injustice is being served to one of our fellow classmates, Kim Brown. Kim suffered the loss of her baby after having to emergently deliver her at just 21weeks gestation. The baby unfortunately did not make it and the nursing school is attempting to force Kim to retake peds/ob clinical because she missed one week (although there are a built in 2 make up days) and told her not to come to the next week (thus now missing 4 clinical days not by choice). She has been told that she can still continue on for medsurg clinicals and hopefully make up peds/ob this summer if someone in the accelerated program drops out, which so far no one has. We are asking for your signature on the below petition for the school of nursing to allow Kim to make up the clinical days on the built in make up days and also during her medsurg clinical rotation ( she's in pep and will only have to go one day so the other day she can fit in peds/ob). For years we have seen corporate interests dominate our nations economy. Elected officials have even signed a pledge of allegiance to anti tax zealot Grover Norquist instead to our country. Signing a pledge of integrity would show the nation who is working for them and who is a slave to Corporate America

In order to better fund drug treatment and prevention, undermine illegal markets, and keep our children and families safe, Rhode Island needs sensible marijuana regulation. It's time to end the failed policy of marijuana prohibition and establish a controlled regulatory framework that will boost Rhode Island's economy, take control away from criminals, and prevent youth access.

All PERS jobs with salaries at $250,000 and over should not be part of this pension system. If the taxpayers are paying you that can of income, you can surely save for your own retirement and help save PERS for the underpaid employees, such as police, firefighters and teachers.
