Homeless people have civil rights.Discrimination against the poor and homeless is rampant. Infringement of basic civil liberties is a given with current laws. (Vagrancy, loitering etc.) I have been homeless on and off for a few years and I know that Americans can be quite cruel to those who don't fit the capitalist's bill. Bias laws promote bias thinking therefore, I propose that all vagrancy laws be repealed. I also propose that public places provide shelter without bias instead of no loitering and no camping signs.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Shawn

Advocates for change in mental health legislationThere are many people affected by the ever growing mental health crisis in this country. Many families have a family member/or know someone who is undergoing a crisis situation as a resut of the mental health dilemma. We need change in legislation and more programs to assist sufferers and their families. Education in schools, work settings, and hospitals are preliminary to dessiminate the "stigma" presented with this issue. "When one is afflicted, we are all affected!" Let's stand together and raise our voices to our Congress on this matter!63 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nathalie Day-T.

Stop the lies! Intentional falsification of the newsThe petition is about holding mass media accountable for their stories, and forcing news agencies to tell the truth. Most people, falsely assume, that major news reports represent the truth. Knowledge is power, and people need to have some confidence that they are being told the truth by the media. The issue affects all people who seek the truth. Distributing falsified information and intentionally misleading the public should be a crime when done by the mass media. ******************************* For more details and to locate the source for below quoted texts search for "FOX can lie lawsuit" "The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves." "In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a “policy,” not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation. Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was “totally vindicated” by the verdict."5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jon Murray

Voter supression lawssome Republican-leaning states have recently placed voter supression laws designed to prevent poor, elderly, disabled and those without transportation from voting, under the guise that they are designed to prevent fraud, without no apparent proof. If these laws are effected by states, they should apply only to state elections, and not to federal elections, as these are the domain of the federal government.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Pete

Truth in Campaign AdvertisingIt is becoming clear that there is no downside to lying in political ads but this must change. There are no penalities for half truths, lies, or distortions in political campaign ads that would never be permitted in commercial ads. Campaign ads are certainly more important to the public in making informed decisions based on FACTS.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Koji Asada

Stop behaving as if the planet were infiniteThe planet is finite. This means it has a finite capacity to give us resources sustainably, and a finite capacity to absorb our effluents (like climate-change-inducing carbon dioxide). And yet economic policy, including monetary policy, continue to assume that the planet is capable of supporting infinite growth in both.138 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Eric Zencey

No off stage helpIt has been photographically documented that George Bush wore a concelled earphone during the 2004 debates where off stage handlers provided answers to questions posed. Please sign this petition to let the GOP know that this trick will not be allowed during the upcoming Presidential debates.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Scott Kane

Blackfeet Tribal Business Council: Petition To Implement A Zero Tolerance Violence-Free Work PolicyWe are asking the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council to commit to creating and maintaining a zero tolerance and violence-free workplace policy where threats, threatening behavior, intimidation, harassment including sexual, verbal and physical assaults, or any act of violence will not be tolerated. We are also asking that this policy state that threats or threatening behaviors will be investigated immediately and will be grounds for charges according to Blackfeet Tribal Law if found to be in violation of this policy. These types of incidents have been known to occur within and throughout the Blackfeet Tribal Organization and have been numerous enough to not only merit review, but numerous enough to implement such a policy. It is the belief of the petitioners that implementing a zero tolerance and violence-free policy and posting statements of this policy and the consequences of violating this policy in all buildings owned or operated by the Blackfeet Nation will help manage and reduce workplace violence incidents. Employers everywhere have a legal and ethical responsibility to promote a work environment free from threats and violence and the Blackfeet Tribe as the main employer on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation should have the same legal and ethical obligation to do the same. Workplace violence according to this policy will refer to actions including threats, threatening behaviors, intimidation, harassment including sexual, verbal and physical assaults or any other act of violence that originates from the General Public, Blackfeet Tribal Employee's and the Blackfeet Tribal Administration including all Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Members and all will be subject to the guidelines of such a policy. This petition is asking that the Blackfeet Tribe also provide professional training from an outside entity to educate all Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Members, all Blackfeet Tribal Program Directors, and all Blackfeet Tribal Staff Members should they chose to implement this policy. This petition is also asking that the General Public be made aware of this policy should it be implemented as well. The petitioners believe that implementing such a policy will effectively make a positive change as well as working on creating a professional work environment throughout the Blackfeet Tribal Organization.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patty Gilham

Congressional Reform ActAs with many people, I am disgusted with the way Congress has performed over the past several years. They seem to be out of touch with those who they represent and with the idea they are in Washington to stonewall legislation which would help the economy and the American people. Maybe taking away the privileges they have legislated and giving them the same benefits most people have, would give them a different perspective on healthcare, social security and medicare. Granted this has been passed around the internet, but nobody seems to know how to get the ball rolling to make this happen. Hopefully a petition through your organization might be the means.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steve Wilcox

Disability DiscriminationI am a T-9 paraplegic 38 years old and 38 weeks pregnant and I went to lunch at Burger King where I was filling my drink and an employee came over and punched me in the face insisting I get out of my wheelchair, my 16 yr old son restrained him & after asking 2 employees for help and being ignored a mgr finally came forward and got the man away from us and the city of Lafayette says I have no proof it happened! The man told police he hit me because he wanted me out of my wheelchair! What else do you need! Burger King should be liable for their employee discriminating against me for being physically disabled not to mention my busted mouth and danger they placed me and my son and unborn baby in by employing such a person! Need help getting support to hold them accountable!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Randy
