• Legalization of Illegal Drugs
I believe the "War on Drugs" to be a dismal failure; economically, as a means of curbing addiction, keeping drugs out of the hands of underage children, curbing crime associated with illegal drug trade, filling our prisons with drug related offenses (have heard that 70% and above of people in prison are there due to drug related crimes), loss of life due to drug overdose, crime related loss of life for citizens and police officers, clogging our court systems. This supposed "War on Drugs" has been going on for 3-4 decades and if anything the situation is worse today than ever. From my research, there appears to be as many "legitimate business" people who are profiting off the illegal sale of drugs as are the cartel people. I expect that these "legitimate business" people don't want it to end. I also believe there is more than a little evidence that our govt has benefited from illegal drug trade to pay for black op operations. It is the taxpayers and people caught up in the cycle addiction who end up paying the price. We need to grow up and take control where we can and realize that prohibition will never work.

  • Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, Investigate ALEC
The American Legislative Exchange Council wants to be treated as a charitable organization, not as the extremist national organization that is a "bill mill" for laws that limit the right of Alabamians to vote. ALEC has also been responsible for laws like the Stand Your Ground law in Florida.

  • License Customer Service in Insurance
I have worked in the insurance 10 to 15 years. I sold, did follow up on underwriting & taught insurance. I've spent the last 5 years answering questions for people that needed Medicare. I need a license & continuing education just to sell insurance. I've found that member services in just about any company you can think of, there member services aren't licensed!!!! The medicare population, the people that need it the most are misinformed on a daily basis. Why are insurance companies allowed to have unlicensed employees that need to know products inside & out do customer service. It's a loop hole for the insurance industry so they won't have to pay agents. Most people on medicare have never had to buy health insurance which is a very complicated insurance. Why should we let unlicensed people that aren't qualified enough to do the job

  • Eliminate taxes paid on any "forgiven" students loan
Sign this petition if you want total forgiveness on your soon-to-be-forgiven student loans by not having the federal or state require you to pay taxes on the forgiven amount. There have been many talks on forgiving student loans to stimulate the economy. There is also currently a program through the federal government's Direct Loans that forgive outstanding student loans for those who work in certain professions (such as teaching, civil service, etc) after the individuals makes 120 monthly payments starting in October 2007 while employed in qualified professions. For short, pay your student loans diligently for 10 years and the rest is forgiven. There is also legislation out there forgiving outstanding student loans for the rest of the population provided that the person has paid their loans diligently for 25 years. Sounds great, doesn't it? It is a great relief...but not quite until you see the whole picture. We pay taxes on debt forgiven by private creditors. Since there is no legislation written out there on how forgiven student loan debt is treated, consider it treated just like any other debt--if it is forgiven, it is INCOME to you. If it's income to you, then you MUST pay taxes. There haven't been talks on what happens when 2017 comes, or how these "forgiven" outstanding student loan debts are treated tax-wise (federal and state-wise). These "forgiven" amounts can range from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. It sounds untrue, but there are many out there who had to defer their loans due to falling to bad times. Just picture that you're on the road to financial freedom once your student loan debt is forgiven (all without having to file for bankruptcy), only for you to owe thousands of dollars worth in federal and state taxes immediately on the year your outstanding student loan debt is forgiven. Sign this petition to ask all legislative parties to treat forgiven student loans as non-taxable.

  • Repealing "The Patriot Act "
The Patriot Act (P.A.) has taken away my Constitutional Rights as an American. My fore fathers fought against outside government takeovers. And the P.A. does that and even more unconstitutional things against the citizens Bill Of Rights. Therefore repealing the P.A. would then restore our sovournty(sp)? Back to where out once was. No one group of representatives should have the right to change the Constitutions Perameters or Framework of a Historical Document we have lived by as a peaceful nation. In doing this repeal we will also be attempting to change the Protocal of the C.I.A. & Homeland Security preventing them from staging and performing accidents at home and abroad to give our government a reason to retaliate.

  • NATIONAL MONORAIL SERVICE
Federal Gov. construction of a Nation-Wide Monorail system running up the middle of the Interstate Hwy System. The Monorail would run above the ground on pylons and would provide passenger service (including auto transport), freight service and US mail service. All interstate trans would be required to use it--NO exceptions. Airlines would relenquish their Fed subsidies to support this. Construction would be done by Federal employees--under a WPA like system. Materials would be purchased from an approved list of vendors who could prove NO lobbying and NO connections to Gov. employees or elective officials. A date would be set for completion---ie: 20 yrs. (think Pres. Kennedy's pledge to land a man on the moon in less than 10 yrs.). This legislation and the resulting program would result in the following: job creation on a massive scale, reduction of carbon emissions, safe and effective travel, safe and effective freight transport, reduction (drastic) in fuel consumption, rapid interstate travel, convenience (no waiting to board a plane--get to an airport etc.), smog reduction, less stress for travelers with children and reduced cost for families. These are only a few of the countless benefits. They address the most crucial crises facing our country: employment, fuel consumption, foreign control of fuel supplies, pollution, global warming, safety, erroding infrastructure, transportation. It is NOT a matter of "if"---it is a matter of MUST!!!

  • Open CU dive well to qualified divers
University of Colorado at Boulder Recreation Center has been so restrictive with regard to its diving boards, that it's preventing potential Olympic athletes from progressing. Indeed, the CU Boulder rec center has nearly transformed the dive well into the water polo well, because they are so afraid to allow access to the 3m diving boards. In the 1980s and 90s US Olympic divers were among the best. But facilities like CU need to set an example & encourage young athletes, not prevent them.

  • Sign Petition – Reunite Tens of Thousands of American Children Taken From Their Deported Parents
Dear Mr. President Barack Obama: In 2011, over 46,000 mothers and fathers of at least one U.S. citizen child were part of massive ICE deportations. Many of these children (unable to be claimed by their parents while held in ICE detention centers) were put into county foster care custody and scattered throughout the nation - as abandoned and neglected. The United States needs to reunite these families and end these blunt violations of perhaps the oldest and most fundamental of human rights: a parent's right to raise and care for their own child. Please issue a Presidential Executive Order to locate these children so they can be reunited with their parents. America must do the right thing. No one has the right to separate a child from the parent they love. Nobody!
