Children with Cystic Fibrosis are required to take supplemental pancreatic enzymes before meals. These enzymes allow the student to digest food properly. Currently, the law states, each student must go to the nurse’s office, each day. The nurse than administers the medication to the student. This is a time consuming process, which takes forces the student to leave class early or miss part of the lunch hour. This inhibits the student’s ability to either learn or have adequate time to finish lunch. This is also becoming problematic, due to budget cuts in the schools. Some schools are eliminating full-time nurses, which would make it impossible for students to take their medication each day. Some schools have passed laws that allow students to carry medication such as over over-the-counter pain relief medications. The main impetus for the current restrictions is to insure the safety of the students by keeping controlled substances (such as prescription medications) out of the hallways and classrooms of the school. However, the danger of someone taking un-prescribed pancreatic enzymes is negligible. We believe students who have Cystic Fibrosis and require pancreatic enzymes before meals, with a Doctor’s note, should be able to carry and administer their own medication. If the student demonstrates understanding and compliance with the prescribed dosage, before the school nurse, the student should be free to carry and administer the medication. We, the people are offended that our elected officials, both Democats and Republicans participate in "get togethers" with ALEC and their supporting corporations to receive "directives" for legislation in Congress. Our elected representatives should be writing their own legislation. And it should be for the betterment of their voters, not their corporate benefactors.

The United States has systematically avoided falling under the jurisdiction of international courts, including the International Criminal Court and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights within the Organization of American States. In essence, the United States has avoided international oversight with respect to human rights, yet claims to be an international defender of these same rights. Isn't it about time for the United States to become a citizen of the world?

One of the biggest problems in Washington State is that people have trouble navigating the unemployment insurance bureaucracy, in order to get to the compensation they desperately need in order to pay for work search expenses. People should have a right to the money that they've paid out of their paychecks to pay for state unemployment insurance compensation, regardless of what might transpire on the job. Its only fair that one should expect the services one pays for. It should not be the states position to have to pass judgement on an individual's work performance, and pit the employee against the employer in cases of termination. As it currently stands, the government is forced to judge against the individual and make determinations that affect the individual's right to work. Lets help restore compassion to the system, and save hundreds of thousands of people from homelessness, by making sure that the unemployment insurance system is used only for the purposes of paying unemployment insurance, and not for judging individuals according to potentially biased employers' opinions of their work performance, social stereotypes, or other reasons that have nothing to do with the need to find a job. Retraining people doesn't pay people money, but a paying job does. If one wants to retrain, one should apply for government grants and loans, not apply for unemployment insurance. Help petition to change this law so that its fair and equitable and give us all the rights to the money that we've paid into the system to use to look for work; when we need it the most.

Senators and congressonal members have gutted school finance over the past decades all the while allowing their own children to attend private schools. This petition seeks to requires senators and congressional members to send their own children to public schools. By doing this we are tying the success of the public school system to the success of the peoples children who make make the funding choices. By doing this we are taking the inequality out of the system that leaves scores of the less fortunate even more disenfranchised.

U.S. citizens are paying a large part of their taxes on keeping people in prison. United States leads the world in sheer numbers of prisoners and in prisoners per capita. It's especially sad that more than 70 percent of the prisoners in the U.S. are non-whites. What's worse is that a very large number of those we incarcerate are not a physical threat to people. There are better ways of discouraging most of the prisoners from being repeat offenders. Why should hard-working taxpayers be picking up the tab for housing, feeding, dressing and giving medical care to white collar criminals, tax evaders, recreational drug users and to hundreds of thousands of "lifers" who have long since learned their lessons? Everyone should want to sign this petition to demand that federal, state, county and city officials and legislators begin the process of purging the prisons and jails of non-violent offenders.

Employers are refusing to hire anyone who is currently unemployed. This includes newly graduated students who are finding employment extremely difficult due to this practice. Students who take out loans cannot pay them back- This is devastating to our economy and makes no sense. We need to ensure that employers are no longer reducing pay of those already employed by only offering jobs to a smaller sector of population. This drains every aspect of our economy- from the taxes these unemployed can be paying, healthcare needed by these citizens, and to student loans that will default of these 13 million unemployed.

Hilary Clinton and President Obama spoke out about the abuses in other countries while going silent on what is happening here on our soil. No more pepper sraying and abusing American protesters! Demand a commitment to end these practices now before the next elections.

My petition is simply about ending the 'lobbying system' (which is a euphamism for legal bribery.) People should sign it because congress will never do this on their own. These legal bribes are essentially what gets them re-elected. Only the voices of the people can end it.

Finally let us remember that Mary the mother of Jesus rode to the place of his birth on the back of a donkey, which he himself later rode to make a very clear point...if it is good enough for Christ, it should be good enough for the Democrat Party. I think our Democrat Leaders should make it official at the next national convention and formally adopt it!
