Make sure everyone who commits a crime is afforded a trial! Just because you are not in this country legally does not mean you get to commit any crime you want, then when caught just deport yourself and avoid prosecution.

Equal Rights does intrinsically not discriminate -right? except in some cases - wrong! Bigotry is not dead, just head for the nearest Republican and/or Right Wing group (in person, on the internet, at rallies and parades, and yes, friendships!) and discuss a favorite issue - taxes. Because the current law does not allow a legal agreement defining marriage as available option to same sex couples these brothers and sisters, friends and family, are denied, the same economic benefits that are offered to heterosexuals, the current "reigning group" majority. The old mantra of exposure to children, illness, lewdness (sooo old fashioned and out-dated) and against mainstream religion has been taken apart, dissected by every group from social psychiatry to following the pack mentality to ignorance. In this century, in our lifetime, how absurd to deny any sect of people a denial or refusal to love and cohabit and form a family.

My son is active in the Army, and he is on his 3rd deployment. The flat rate APO boxes r nice but they dont hold very much, and when you have to send many it gets a little costly, dont get me wrong I would take my last dollar to send a package to any deployed soldier. I have 3 I know including my son that is deployed now. And about every 2 weeks i send the 5-6 boxes and at 13.45 a box! Then in between those weeks I send 1 or 2 just to keep them stocked since it takes so long to get there. I know there is many other people out there that in the same position that I am in. If they cant give free shipping at least give us a bigger box. I think our soldiers would be able to get more stuff sent from home if this was to happen.

Federal law enforcement has been raiding medical marijuana producers and dispensers, even in states where it is legal. This only hurts the sick, and forces them back into the black market to get their medicine. Its time for this abhorrent misuse of federal resources to stop, so that states who've chosen to permit the sick to use medical marijuana can administer their programs unhindered.

Let's elect congressmen/women for six years, a senator for twelve and a president for eight. They cannot stand for reelection. In any election year they can be removed from office with a 75% vote. Big money would have less influence, elected officials more lattitude to learn and shift their perspective and vote with accumulated wisdom (we hope).

Tami Fitzgerald is chairwoman of the campaign to put Amendment One into the constitution, which would prohibit North Carolina from viewing same-sex relationships as marriages or civil unions. Her opposition to acknowledging same-sex couples is grounded in the Bible. However, the Bible is much clearer about banning women from teaching or holding authority over men than it is about same-sex relationships. To be consistent in her interpretation of the Bible, we demand that Ms. Fitzgerald immediately resigns and discontinues all leadership and teaching roles.

Why should these organizations enjoy tax exempt status? In order for there to be a clear separation of church and state, they too should pay for the network of publicly funded infrastructure, they too rely on.

The federal student loan program charges interest. The low interest rate is already higher than what the government pays to borrow. Politicians and PACs should have a truth in speaking and advertising law. If they make statements which are untrue they should be subject to fines and publicly correct their mistakes. This should be applied to all ads and public speeches.

This applies to elected officials. I believe that before any congressman or senator votes on a bill, they much sign a pledge that states that they have read the bill and they understand what the bill will do. It would cut down on the size of bills being introduced.
