Military retirement pay is being taxed at an astounding rate by the Federal Government. I don't believe that military retirement pay should be taxed by either the Federal, State or Local Governments.

In 1983 the Iranian government directed terrorists to do something "spectacular" against the Marines on a peacekeeping mission in Beirut. It resulted in the Marine Barracks bombing—killing 241 American Marines. In 2002, the survivors and families of the fallen Marines won a judgment against Iran for $2.6 billion. Recently, investigators found $1.8 billion of Iran's money in a frozen bank account in the United States. We have two choices: 1) Pass HR 4070 and S 2101 allowing these funds to settle the judgment in favor of our Marines OR 2) Send the $1.8 billion back to the Iranian government to use for more terrorism YOUR CHOICE— Sign this petition, and call your Congressman (1-202-224-3121) to pass HR 4070 and S 2101. Las Brisas wants to build a toxic waste incinerator that will increase area pollution by 80 percent. Area medical societies argued that this plant will harm the public's health, particularly that of young children and the elderly. Signing this petition to the EPA will encourage that agency to refuse Las Brisas an operating permit because it will not comply with the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

We the People wrote the U.S. Constitution, and it's time we remember we can amend it.

We are Americans and this is our nation, our home. Power has been taken away from us through money and politics. When we see such anomalies as the Citizens United decision and the equating of 'money as speech' by our highest court, we know it is time to clean house and take back control of our government. We know it is time to take money entirely out of politics.

This slowly recovering economy has left many college grads with school loans to pay, garnished wages, and bad credit reports with very little job opportunities to prevent inevitable poverty to those who were just trying to earn a better life. Lenders, like Sallie Mae, are relentless in their efforts to take anything they can and this problem is causing permanent financial hardship for individuals that deserve better than this for their efforts.

In 2007 North Carolina legislators passed Senate Bill 3 (session law 2007-397). It was hoped to be a vehicle to improve the environment and economically benefit the state. SB-3 has no provable environmental benefits, and will guarantee higher costs to NC citizens and businesses. The latter will result in a net job loss to North Carolina.

Underwater homes were caused by the bubble that the banks created. People are stuck with homes that they cannot sell for what they owe. They can't move for a better job, they can't downsize to meet the current economy. Our government is now allowing for and reimbursing banks for writing down mortgages, all except those backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. People who have jumbo loans on second homes can get their mortgage written down to the current value (conditions apply), so the government is bailing out those homeowners and their banks (again), but middle class citizens who have their primary homes underwritten by Fannie or Freddie are out of luck. This is SO wrong. No help for the middle class repeated.
