lower cost for insulinPeople are dying because they no longer can afford the medication they require to live. It is a horrible shame that insulin makers only care about their bank roll and disregard the many human lives being affected by their greed.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gina Reed

Remove McConnell as Senate Majority Leaderhttps://thehill.com/homenews/senate/424730-mcconnell-blocks-house-bills-to-reopen-government This government shutdown is entering its third week, and the employees who have been furloughed or working without pay since Christmas are suffering. Nevermind that this is about a nonessential “wall” or a “fence” or a “beaded curtain” that President Trump and the GOP claim will curtail illegal immigration (which it won’t, we live in the 21st century, a wall is not going to stop anyone that really wants to get through). Nevermind that this shutdown is affecting Homeland Security, including the TSA, which means our main points of entry are not properly secured and maintained (these entrypoints are where the majority of stops and arrests happen, because there are more modes of transportation than walking up to a border). Nevermind that this “wall of steel slats that is concrete but see-through” is now being described as a metaphor, and not some physical, actual, unnecessary wall (in which case, why do they need approx. 7 billion dollars?). This isn’t some “all or nothing” deal - the border security already in place is budgeted for; the democratic congressmen (and, hopefully, many republican congressmen as well) want to fund DHS and implement newer, more advanced security and have proposed funding for much-needed updates. This is not about border security or protecting the American citizens or some us-vs-them fight; this is about a supposed-leader who lets a few people on a “news” channel tell him what to do, and another man who is willing to sacrifice the stability of this country and the people within it in order to stay on the “good side” of the President. In summary, these men are weak and cowardly. Getting McConnell out of the way is the first step in getting this country back on track.221 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Jessy

Freeze Salaries of Congress and White House StaffThis budget freeze would end if all of Government were shut down, including elected officials and the White House staff. They should feel the pain that the other Federal employees feel.18,769 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Linda Robertson

Tell Trump not to use disaster relief funds to pay for the border wallTrump keeps criticizing California's forest management and blames them for wildfires. But forest management is a federal responsibility, and the funds for that keep getting cut. Then the state is forced to use remaining funds to fight the wildfires instead. It's a cycle that feeds on itself and makes it almost impossible for California to do adequate forest management. Now President Trump is threatening to cut FEMA funding, too. California citizens who lost everything in the wildfires are already dealing with unbearable stress. They don't need Trump to add to that by threatening the loss of FEMA funding that pays not just for local infrastructure repair, but for home repair, emergency housing, and groceries. Furthermore, there are reports that Trump could take money from Puerto Rico recovery efforts—after he's spread conspiracy theories to diminish the devastating, fatal impact of hurricanes to the island—to get even more money for a border wall should he declare a national emergency. In places like Puerto Rico, California, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas, people who have already been through unthinkable loss don't need the president of the United States to add to their burdens. He needs to stop abusing his power and American citizens to fuel his ego.3,838 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Susan Madrak

Honorable Mike Pompeo, please help Danni Askini come home!My goal is to help Danni Askini to safely return to the US, without being detained in a men's prison. She is a US citizen, and has supplied proof to the US State Department, who for whatever reason does not accept her proof, all because she transitioned at a young age.291 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Myralee Hayes

Who should pay for the US-Mexico Border Wall? The U.S. government is being threatened with a complete shut down by the Trump administration in order to strong-arm funding for the US-Mexico Border Wall. There is no end in sight for what is essentially a manufactured crisis. If Mr. Trump wants HIS wall SO BADLY that he is willing to hurt his constituents over it; then he should provide all the funding for it.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris D.

How many more need to die? Fix Hickory Creek Road!!Today it was discovered that two teen boys lost their lives when their vehicle drove into the creek. How many more people need to die before action is taken to make Hickory Creek Road safer? Four people have died since 2017* on this stretch of road alone. This road lacks basic safety measures such as guardrails and an inadequate amount of reflective posts. It's a road that winds along a 20-foot drop into a creek with a sharp S turn. It ends at Country Club Rd in a steep, angled hill that has seen more than a dozen incidents in the past 2 years. *Awaiting an official number from City of Denton or the County, currently official statement was "multiple fatalities" before today's incident.3,725 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Jay Rodney Stucki

2019 Chemung County Executive’s personnel and salary requestsSubject: 2019 County Executive’s personnel and salary requests The undersigned Chemung County residents urge the Chemung County Legislature to table the personnel appointments and salary requests submitted by County Executive Chris Moss until the general legislative meeting on February 12, 2019. This delay will allow the legislature the appropriate time to review the appointments and salaries requested by the Chemung County Executive. We believe that tabling the decision on appointees would be a prudent decision that would allow each member of the legislature to make an informed decision on each of the appointees and assist in making the Chemung County Legislature a more open and transparent body. Background: On December 31, 2018, Bill McCarthy (D, District 12) was removed from a personnel committee assignment and replaced with Tom Sweet (R, District 3) with no explanation. The decision to remove Mr. McCarthy from the committee facilitates the ability of the county executive to have appointees approved strictly on a party-line vote and without the opportunity for seconding any objection to an appointee. On January 7, 2019 t the personnel committee met for the first time. Prior to the meeting, none of the members of the legislature were provided any information on the proposed appointees such as a resume, vitae or summary of education and experience. Due to understandable concern about the lack of information on proposed appointees, Minority Leader Christina Sonsire ( D, District 7) asked that the appointments be tabled until February to allow the legislature adequate time to review these appointees. Minority Leader Sonsire could not get a second to her motion from any of the other members of the committee. This kind of process is neither open nor transparent, but are two themes Mr. Moss emphasized during his campaign for county executive.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Peter Keenan

Fort Hood MWR: Keep kids in the gym(s)Parents take great pride in knowing that we are accepted into the gym atmosphere with our littles in tow. It shows that we are supported in the gym and military community. Many families do not have the means to pay for childcare, have childcare readily available to them, or the ability to purchase gym memberships. Having a free gym where all of our health and fitness needs can be met especially during stressful days that are often experienced in the military community due to family separations and frequent moves has created high resilience. Applied Functional Fitness Center has been a go-to source for families to find mental and physical wellbeing, creating great morale amongst one another and a close-knit community for us to rely on in those times of need.440 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Bailey Doñez
