On September 2nd, Woods Humane Society fundraised for their dogs and cats by supporting, and taking money from, a chicken wing festival. Woods continues to hold other events that involve the killing and eating of animals other than dogs and cats. This is a horrific display of speciesism that we feel must come to an end.

To the Olive Branch community, alumni, parents, family and friends of the Olive Brach High School girls’ basketball team WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT with fighting this battle!!! Last basketball season, 2016-2017, the OBHS girls’ team won the 6A state championship making history in the Olive Branch community. On August 17, 2017, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) stripped the team of their championship title ruling there was an ineligible player. Along with stripping the title, the girls are not allowed to compete in post season of 2017-2018, the ineligible player is not allowed to play for a year, and there is a $500 fine. No rules were actually broken by the team. The ineligible player competed all season on the Olive Branch Middle School basketball team; after their season was up, she went on to play for the high school team. This young lady attended the middle school on an administrative transfer. DeSoto County School's policy states children of a full-time employees can attend the school of their parent’s choice. However, quite a few administrators failed to do their job and obtain the proper paperwork, and this is being held against the children. Both the middle school and high school are a part of the MHSAA, which means, the middle school administration should have turned in a transfer form to the District before the player could be eligible to play. This did not happen. Additionally, the high school submitted a roster to the district, state and MHSAA before playing in any tournaments with the “ineligible” player’s information. However, no one on any level of the administration disapproved this roster including MHSAA. Our girls should not be punished due to the incompetency of paid administration. These young ladies worked hard all season, and made Olive Branch history. We need the administration to be held accountable! The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is under threat of being ended. Though Donald Trump has stated he "loves the Dreamers", he is still considering ending it and the benefits it provides for over 800,000 people who were brought to the United States as young children. If DACA is ended, it would be one of the most inhumane policy decisions in the history of modern U.S. politics, and would severely harm the economy; business leaders have estimated a loss of $460.3 billion. Top Republican lawmakers, including Paul Ryan and Orrin Hatch, and an attorney general, Herbert Slatery, who previously opposed DACA, have called on Trump to defend the program. A handful of mayors from both political parties have also lent their voices to the fight to keep DACA. Members of our government want to keep this program, let's make sure they do. My goal for this petition is 50,000 signatures, and I know we can reach it and send a powerful message to this administration. Our country is built on immigrants. This nation stands on being a land of opportunity, open to all. We must hold true to the core values of the United States, stand with the Dreamers, and tell the Trump Administration to defend DACA.

We are asking Facebook to adhere to their policy of trying to make as safe a community as possible, and not inadvertently help stalkers use Facebook rules as a way to ban some members for political or personal reasons. Please, Facebook, protect your members and do not help stalkers harm them. Facebook has been banning longtime members who have never been a problem, based on stalkers who repeatedly report years' old posts and comments. These posts plainly did not violate Facebook "community standards" or else they would have been removed immediately after they were first posted. Stalkers can clone a victim's page and suffer no consequences, as has been done to Bev Jo Von Dohre. She repeatedly has asked Facebook that whoever cloned her page and whoever is reporting her from years' old posts (which she likely already removed) be blocked from seeing her, but Facebook ignores her. We've been told that it is likely a hired team is targeting a number of Facebook members so that as soon as they return after a 30-day ban, they are again reported en masse and banned. (The stalker(s) could also be people who have been removed from moderated groups for making abusive or threatening comments, and so is on a vendetta, but it seems more systematic than that.) The reported posts are often years old. No matter how many hours of work has been spent removing anything possible, going back 6 years, nothing stops the reporting of what used to be acceptable. So, in my case, I am locked out almost permanently. Soon after I return, the stalker(s) report me again and I am locked out for another 30 days. Meanwhile, I've been unable to return friends' messages or comment when a friend has died (which happened a few days ago) or otherwise participate in the community. This is happening to a lot of targeted women. I have over 900 friends and am prevented from contact with them. It's terrible that friends often don't know and so think I am ignoring them. I moderate several groups, which are now suffering from not having moderation and those asking to join again are made to feel ignored. Last year, the rules said the reported posts had to be "recent," which would eliminate this kind of stalking, but that Facebook rule is being ignored now. I have asked repeatedly for Facebook to block the stalker(s) since they know who they are, but get no direct response. When there has been a response, it's like a form letter and never about what actually is happening. I even went to Facebook headquarters, was assured there would be help, which of course did not happen, and then the stalking and false reporting continued. This is will be increasingly happening to Facebook members since stalkers and harassers have found a way to use the rules against other members as a way to almost permanently ban them. Please ask Facebook to stop helping stalkers target and ban members for no legitimate reason. (Some members have even been banned for using their own chosen name for their identity.)

If approved, the area will be rezoned to allow apartment complexes to be built on the property where we currently live. In order to build these apartments, our families will have to move our homes, so that the land can be developed for these apartments. Many of our homes are too old to move. We would have to leave them behind, losing all we have invested in them. The rest of us would have to pay thousands of dollars that we don't have to move the homes that can be moved. We are hardworking families that moved to this area, because it is affordable and most importantly the good schools for our children. This is a nice tranquil area to raise our families. We all by now have seen the video of Det. Jeff Payne placing Nurse Wubbels in handcuffs for doing her job. He was not doing his. He was in fact violating the oath he took after graduating the police academy. He violated her civil rights. He was attempting to violate the civil rights of an unconscious patient. For these egregious offenses WOW he was put on paid administrative leave. *Vox reports that he's only been suspended from the phlebotomy unit, he's still working cases. Not Acceptable! Not good enough any longer. Not good enough for Salt Lake City, New York City, or the city of Baltimore, not good enough for the United States. It is time that police officers are forced to do their duties not just to protect the citizens but to serve them too. The National Fraternal Order of Police won't stop it. It's up to MoveOn members to do it.
