  • Tell the Senate: Protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
The House already passed the Wrong CHOICE Act. Now it heads to the Senate. After the big banks crashed the economy, people took action and won reforms to rein in the abuses of Wall Street. A big part of that was establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB is the first federal financial watchdog whose entire job is making sure Wall Street can't get away with the tricks and traps that bleed millions out of our pockets. The Bureau has recovered $12 BILLION dollars in ill-gotten gains for over 27 million people ripped off by the predatory financial industry. But here's the thing. Republicans love the campaign donations they get from Wall Street bankers, payday lenders, and hedge fund managers. They are itching to destroy the CFPB and let Wall Street go wild. That's why they've introduced an Orwellian named "CHOICE Act" that would gut the CFPB and give Wall Street more power to gamble with our economy. We know full well this bill is the WRONG CHOICE for our families. It just passed the House. Now it heads to the Senate. Sign this petition to send a message to the US Senate: You work for us, not Wall Street. We need our government to do more to rein in predatory lenders and Wall Street bankers, not give them a free pass to crash the economy again.

  • Governor Walker: No Hate in the Dairy State! No Anti-Immigrant Bill AB190/SB275!
Wisconsin Republicans have introduced AB190/SB275, a bill that would encourage discrimination and racial profiling and have Wisconsin public employees and local law enforcement act as agents of Trump’s Deportation Force. If signed into law, AB190/SB275 would require Wisconsin police to enforce federal immigration law - meaning that anyone in Wisconsin could be racially profiled and asked to show their “papers.” Furthermore, AB190/SB275 would make makes victims and witnesses of crime, including domestic violence survivors, afraid to come forward, making the state of Wisconsin less safe for everyone. This bill - a copycat of Texas SB 4 - was written by private prison corporations to profit from the separation of families and criminalize immigrants. We defeated this bill last year through the historic Day without Latinxs and Immigrants general strike of tens of thousands in Madison on February 18th, 2016. In Wisconsin, 1 in 10 jobs depend on our signature dairy industry. Immigrants harvest 60% of the milk produced in our state. If Governor Walker creates an environment hostile to immigrants and their families, workers will leave and our state's signature industry will collapse. We defeated this bill last year and we can do it again! Please sign our petition asking Governor Walker to take a stand against this discriminatory and anti-immigrant bill in Wisconsin.

  • Don't Let Trump Wreck Our Coasts
Donald Trump issued an executive order to open up our coastlines to oil and gas drilling. We can't let him do it.
We all remember the horrifying images from the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010. Seven years later, wildlife and communities on the Gulf coast are still feeling the impacts. Let's make sure that never happens again. Offshore oil and gas drilling risks immense harm to marine life, public health, and coastal tourism and fishing economies. And spills, leaks, and explosions WILL happen if we continue to pursue offshore oil and gas. It would also lock us into decades more of fossil fuel reliance, something our climate and communities cannot afford. What we need is a permanent ban on ALL oil and gas exploration, development, and production off the coasts of the United States. And that starts with passing the Clean Ocean and Safe Tourism (COAST) Anti-Drilling Act to block oil and gas drilling on the Atlantic Coast. Tell Congress to pass the COAST Anti-Drilling Act to protect our beaches, oceans, wildlife, and coastal communities!
